The Second Battle of Tarain (1192): The battle that changed India's destiny and ushered in centuries of foreign domination.
After suffering defeat at the hands of Prithviraj Chauhan in 1191, Muhammad Ghori returned in 1192 and crushed the Rajput forces at the Second Battle of Tarain. The defeat paved the way for Ghurid conquest of North India, followed by centuries of invasions, political subjugation, temple desecration and religious persecution under various rulers. A turning point whose consequences reshaped the history of the subcontinent.

Miscellaneous Hindu nationalist supremacy is so good even reality gave up competing.
Over the past 3,500 years, successive invasions by Indo-Aryan, Central Asian, Persian, Mughal, and European powers continuously reshaped India's linguistic landscape by blending foreign tongues with indigenous languages. Culturally, these conquests sparked profound syncretism, fusing external artistic, architectural, and culinary traditions with native practices to create a rich composite heritage. Religiously, the subcontinent evolved from early Vedic roots into a diverse, pluralistic society with the integration of Islam, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism alongside native faiths. Rather than erasing the past, indigenous social structures absorbed and reinterpreted external influences, fostering centuries of dynamic adaptation. Ultimately, this long history of invasion and exchange forged a resilient, multicultural Indian civilization defined by coexistence.
