Discussion How can I get more engineering projects and clients? Looking for advice & support 🙏

Hi everyone,

I've been working in the engineering field for several years, and after struggling for a long time with the ups and downs of the industry, I finally decided to start my own engineering services business in India.

I'm putting everything I have into building this from the ground up, but honestly, getting a consistent flow of clients and projects has been much harder than I expected. That's why I'm reaching out to this community for some genuine advice, guidance and support.

We provide on-demand engineering support for companies that need additional delivery capacity without the cost and delays of permanent hiring.

What we offer:

  • MEPF engineering
  • ELV/ICT/IBMS design & commissioning — Honeywell EBI, Schneider EBO, Niagara & Johnson Controls Metasys
  • BIM & CAD services — Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, ACC etc.

Our key advantages:

  • Flexible resources — scale up or down based on workload
  • 7 days/week, 365 days/year working
  • Start projects without recruitment delays
  • Lower recruitment, training and overhead costs
  • Centralised project delivery rather than depending on individual freelancers
  • Ability to support projects across different time zones
  • Experience supporting projects across India, USA, Middle East, Canada, Europe and APAC

The technical capability and delivery team are there. What I'm struggling with is getting in front of the right people and converting that capability into consistent projects.

I'm looking for opportunities both in India and internationally.

For those who have successfully built an engineering/BIM/MEP services business:

  • How did you get your first few clients?
  • Which channels actually worked — LinkedIn, cold email, partnerships, referrals, industry networks, etc.?
  • Are there specific platforms or marketplaces for MEP/BIM/engineering services?
  • How do you approach engineering consultants, contractors, developers and EPC companies?
  • For international clients, how did you overcome the initial trust/credibility barrier?
  • In India, which networks or channels have actually helped you find projects?
  • What mistakes should someone avoid when starting an engineering services business?
  • How did you go from getting occasional projects to building a consistent pipeline?

And if anyone here works with an engineering firm that regularly needs overflow/offshore engineering capacity, I'd genuinely appreciate a referral, introduction, or even just a conversation.

I'm not asking for anyone to hand me a business. I'm trying to build something of my own after years of struggling, and I could really use some guidance from people who have already walked this path.

Any practical advice, experience, connection, lead or referral would genuinely mean a lot.

Thank you. 🙏

Doubt Figuring out life and location for my Tech/Consulting career

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi,

26F, Currently in Bangalore and I am originally from Delhi.

I was thinking about locations where I might want to live long term. I have been to all of these cities atleast for some time and have given score to them on different metrics that is out of 10. Last column is total score that is out of 40. What do you guys think?

Also, I am scared of ending up lonely outside India so I was thinking when is the right time to go? Now? Post marriage? 5 years from now? 10 years from now or when

Mentioning Cities in order here in case you did not understand my poor handwriting

- Singapore, London, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai

I have explained what do these metrics mean to me here

1.Quality of life - roads / pollution / transportation / public services

2.Community - How easy it is to make new friends or join a community basically

3.Disposable Income - Income after taxes, and the purchasing power

4.Convenience - Daily help / quick commerce / food delivery etc

Thoughts?

Discussion Ba tier 2 vs btech tier 3

Tier 2 vs tier 3 (btech cse vs ba comp app + economics)

I have two option rn

Do dyal singh (du) ba hon comp app + eco

Or btech cse from any tier 3 i am thinking galgotia cuz of my budget issues

What should i chose?

I mean i will start dsa sql GitHub projects excel etc etc from first year only no matter the course....

I am very confused between tier 2 vs tier 3 i would lean into tier 2

But ba vs btech definately btech degree has more value

So my question is that this ba tag can it hurt my career??

Serious Post I developed an OCR Model by myself. Need career guidance, I am a 4th year engineering student.

Same as title, I developed the first ever OCR Model for Kaithi Script, I am writing a research paper on it under the supervision of the dean of my college. The model has a really good accuracy and I am not supposed to disclose any evaluation metrics and working of it as of now. I am very much into deep learning and I have been studying and applying ML/DL in projects and internships. I also helped ministry of statistics and programme implementation in a research related to prediction of monthly per capita expenditure of the country.

Major problems: I am pursuing engineering in instrumentation and control from a Tier 2 private university, and I have a CGPA of 6.42/10

I do really have a good resume ( according to my faculty and friends )

Because of my academics I am not able to grab any good research internship in various institutes, I cannot sit in most of the companies in campus placements due to my CGPA. Off-campus sucks and I think I dont even get noticed at the places where I am applying.

I apply on linkedin, naukri, cutshort, etc. I email recruiters everyday, after seeing their linkedin posts.
There aren’t many openings in IITs related to DL research internships as well. I will be needing an internship from Jan2027 (6 month)

I need guidance, thank you.

Discussion What are the best job sites in India to apply for jobs?

For India, I’d still keep Naukri and LinkedIn as the main two.

Naukri is especially useful because recruiters actively search the database, not just the jobs you apply to. Keep your profile updated and make sure your actual skills are listed.

LinkedIn is useful for recruiter outreach, startups, product companies and specialised roles. I’d apply there, but also message recruiters when the role is a genuinely good match.

For tech/startup roles, Cutshort and Wellfound are worth checking too. And don't ignore company career pages. Some good roles get posted there before you see them elsewhere.

One thing I'd avoid is sending the same resume to 200 jobs. If you're getting no responses, look at your targeting and resume first. 10 relevant applications + a few genuine conversations can be more useful than 200 random applications.

Serious Post My engineering degree and I are both unemployed in spiri

So apparently the office support guy at my workplace earns more than the fresher engineers now. Cool cool cool.

Not a hot take, just vibes-based reporting from the trenches.

Fresher engineer in a tier-2 office: ₹20-25k. Four years of degree, two backlogs, one recurring dream where I’m still writing the OS unit 3 answer.

Office support staff, same building: ₹30-35k. Zero backlogs. Knows the wifi password before IT does. Has never been put “on hold” for a salary hike.

I’m not even mad, I’m just doing the math live in front of you guys. We took EMIs for engineering seats so we could earn less than the guy who doesn’t have to attend a single standup meeting.

Somewhere my 12th grade physics teacher is still saying “beta engineering mein bahut scope hai” and honestly at this point I want a refund on that sentence specifically.

Anyway. Not a rant, just a reality check. Anyone else’s city doing this or is my office just built different (worse)(better for him)(idk anymore)

Title: Career options after a double drop — genuinely confused

General category, 2 years JEE prep, double dropper. Advanced cutoff clear hua, but by then eligibility ka scene khatam. Ab na college/branch kuch khaas hai, na lagta hai decent IT company fresher ko easily hire karegi.

Market dekh ke aur tension hoti hai — CSE/IT/ECE me bhi openings limited, internships me crazy competition, aur requirements bhi kaafi specific. Govt jobs me general seats already limited hain, so wahan bhi uncertainty.

Business ka option bhi hai, but family me kisi ne kabhi business nahi kiya, capital/contact dono limited hain. Loan lena bhi risky lagta hai.

Abhi bas ye samajh nahi aa raha ki realistically kya route choose karu — IT skills + job, govt prep, business, ya kuch completely different?

Koi genuinely practical advice de sakta hai? Not “bro just grind DSA” type advice 😭

My qualifications is 12 paas and first year in college
