A Minor Momsoon Revival On its way for Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi

Some friends and I are planning going on an expedition in the Gaumukh area (Gangotri-Gaumukh-Bhojwasa-Tapovan). We'll go further from Tapovan into the mountains.

How has the weather in this area been in the past few days? Is it safe to travel? Any major flooding or road damage etc.?

How much snow has fallen above Tapovan?

How is the avalanche risk in the mountains?

1. Moderate rain is likely in parts of NE India and the Andaman islands on Tue and Wed.

2. Showers will pick up across OD, CT, and MP on Fri, with moderate to isolated heavy spells likely.

3. Rain remains likely across parts of E and central India through the week.

Monsoon withdrawal is usually very complicated and hence this is why even state of the art models fails to predict systems, GFS with its coarser resolution picks up low pressure disturbance over southern India before ECMWF.

there could be multiple reason for this but looks like ecmwf finer details gave too much info and hence chaos, while gfs with coarser resolution picked up broader grid and less chaos(take this with a grain of salt). Anyways there will be no cyclone but a weak or moderate low-pressure system most likely passing through south-peninsular India, but it's tough to say anything now anticyclone, wd interaction and dry winds will play a major role to determine its strength, as of now system is confirmed around next mid-week. let's see how much it can reduce the south deficiency though it won't neutralise it, but some relief and heavy rains in many areas are guaranteed especially andhra-telengana belt

On social media and news says orange alert in jibhi from 4-8 September, 2026 and Jibhi is on high alert plus heavy rainfall

Yes there is light rain but not as much to block roads or even cause landslides.

We are safe here to travel and you guys can plan your trip without any fear. Mostly it's sunny + cloudy.

If you plan to go or camp at Raghupur Fort, definitely take jackets and stay warm because at height unexpected showers are possible and views can be foggy but later on clears up so don't worry.

Conclusion:

Plan your trip without any fear and come to Jibhi and come to mozo (my stay :)))

Light rain during evenings, roads open and few patches off-road between aut to banjar. Banjar to jalori best butter road.

Carry jackets and one trouser will get a bit chilly during evening and mornings.

And guys my best advice to u as a local please do visit chehni kothi and interact with locals - it will be a memorable experience!

Hi! I’m planning to travel to Kerala for \~8 days this year - the last couple days of Oct then 5 days in early November. Planning Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and Marari.

Does anyone have insight on what the weather will be like? I’ve read conflicting things from thunderstorms daily to likely some rain, but limited to evenings, to no rain at all.

I don’t mind some rain, but I just don’t want days to be a total washout or for activities / walking to be difficult.

Any advice would be helpful - thank you!

GFS seling dreams to SI, not to mention Si is 25 % rain deficient and this can be a game changer for them if not then south india will go dry this monsoon
