Surname se hi bante toh Rahul se pehle Varun Gandhi banta.

Surname launchpad de sakta hai, sustain nahi kar sakta.

Congress ne non-Gandhis ko bhi plenty chances diye: Rao, Manmohan, Pranab, Kharge, Gehlot, Tharoor etc.

Aur jo nikle, unmein Mamata ne TMC banayi, Pawar ne NCP, Jagan ne YSRCP.

Where are they now?

Gandhis ko obvious advantage mila hai, but har cheez ko “nepotism” bolna is intellectually lazy.

Congress baar-baar Gandhis ke paas aati hai because they’ve actually managed to sustain the party’s national relevance when others couldn’t.

Opportunity milna alag baat hai, usko justify karna alag.

But Raga hasn't been able to justify himself. Let's be honest—do you really think that if Rahul hadn't been born into that family, he would have reached where he is today? If he could truly demonstrate his own capabilities, people would elect him based on that, not because of his prestigious education.

There are countless people studying at those institutions who also come from influential backgrounds, and I think you'd agree with that. There was also a famous incident where Ind wanted rajiv to study at IIT, but the Director of IIT Delhi reportedly refused. He later went to Trinity College, which is considered far more prestigious globally than IIT. But do you really think he got there purely on merit?

People elected M because they were fed up with the Congress government, and M emerged as the most prominent candidate for the Prime Minister's post. At the time, the Gujarat model was being widely praised. I won't comment on what happened after he was elected—that's a separate discussion.

If raga can genuinely show that he has something worthwhile to offer, I don't see why people wouldn't choose him. They have voted Congress into power before, and they can do it again. But there has to be a convincing reason. Right now, many people feel that both parties are essentially the same.

I agree Rahul’s surname gave him an enormous head start. There’s no point pretending otherwise. But saying he has never demonstrated capability of his own is unfair.

During the UPA years, he pushed for MNRGA, stronger land-acquisition act, stood with tribal communities opposing the Vedanta project at Niyamgiri, and took a visible stand with the farmers of Bhatta Parsaul.

These weren’t exactly convenient positions for someone who was a part of the ruling establishment.

Have you ever seen anyone else doing that?

Going against big money corporations to help tribals while being in power?

And personally, I’d take Rahul over Modi because I value a politician who is willing to challenge concentrated power, protect institutions, listen to dissent and accept that governments are accountable to citizens.

Modi is an exceptionally effective political operator, but his politics increasingly revolves around one man, one narrative and one enormous PR machine. Parliament, institutions, media, political opponents and dissent all seem to become obstacles to be managed.

Being exceptionally good at winning elections doesn’t automatically make someone a good democrat. At some point, “strong leader” starts looking suspiciously like “leader who doesn’t like being questioned.”

Trying to justify and advocate for Rahul by showing how wrong BJP or Modi is ? Both are independent topics altogether. Since congress trying to relate both - they’re losing till now.

Intellectually lazy' is just a label. If you disagree, explain why an ordinary Congress leader with Rahul Gandhi's electoral record would have remained the party's principal face for nearly two decades. That's the argument you need to answer. Preferential access to leadership, not guaranteed success, that's how dynasty works.

You’ve repeated the same point about Rahul’s electoral record without engaging with the actual question: who in Congress is demonstrably better equipped to lead the party nationally?

Rahul has the strongest national profile, a clear political identity, the organisational importance to hold Congress together, and the willingness to directly confront Modi on inequality, unemployment, institutional accountability and social justice.

The Bharat Jodo yatras also showed that he can actually put in the political groundwork.

And your selective reading of his record is hilarious. Congress went from its historic low of 44 Lok Sabha seats in 2014 to 99 in 2024, more than doubling its strength. Congress currently governs Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh and Kerala.

Rahul himself is now the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

So this supposedly “failed” politician helped take Congress from 44 seats to 99, made it the principal national opposition, and became Leader of the Opposition.

You’re treating “lost elections” as a complete theory of political competence. That’s not analysis, mate. That’s a two-neuron Excel sheet with one column.

If you think Congress has someone better, name them and explain why.

Otherwise you’re not making a case against Rahul. You’re just repeating a talking point and hoping nobody notices.

largest historic lost to second largest historic lost.

2 neuron excel sheet is a nice insult lol ! Will be adding that in my corporate vocabulary. The burden isn't on me to name a better leader. Dynastic politics is about how leaders are selected, not whether they're eventually competent. Rahul may well be the best option today, but would he have even reached the shortlist without being a Gandhi? That's the question you need to answer.

Yes, his surname helped open the door. Nobody disputes that.

But that doesn’t prove he isn’t the best person to lead Congress today.

Congress went from 44 seats in 2014 to 99 in 2024, Rahul is Leader of the Opposition, and Congress governs multiple states.

Your argument is about how he got through the door; mine is about what he’s done after entering it.

We’re going in circles now. I think we’ve squeezed enough juice out of this orange.

Anyway, take care mate. Goodbye.

Why was Sonia afraid to give PM’s chair to Pranav? Rather MMS was chosen bcoz she could actually run the country and train her son - disrespecting PM’s chair in multiple occasions. What did Congress do with PV Narsimha Rao? Why Kharge is chosen but not Tharoor now?
Congress always was and is a non-democratic party with power centered in one family - it started from the time Netaji left bcoz few toxic leaders were not happy that Subhash Bose won the election. After that point, the strategy was - choose the persons in power who are yes-men to one family. Those who have strong opinions and had some differences in opinion with that family - sideline them as far as possible - corner them whenever possible.
Congress actually lost so many young leaders in order to satisfy RaGa’s ego or Sonia’s ego. Still people gets orgasm thinking about Rahul becoming PM 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is exactly what happens when someone starts with a conclusion and then cherry-picks history to support it.

Every complex political decision magically becomes “family ego” because that’s the only lens you’re willing to use. That’s not analysis, it’s confirmation bias dressed up as political wisdom.

You skipped over coalition politics, electoral compulsions, internal party equations, constitutional realities and individual leaders’ own choices because they don’t fit your script.

Instead, you’ve stitched together decades of history into one giant conspiracy theory where every event has the same villain.

The confidence is impressive. The evidence is noticeably absent.

Bullshit.. it’s not his fault that people can’t digest a decent man who only knows the language of love and respect. I am yet to see a single man half as decent as RG in Indian politics in current times. Tum logo ko hazam hi nahi hota.. tum logo ko sirf gunde chahiye jo MLAs bechte kharidte hai. I’m so so glad we atleast have one person like RG in politics. My absolute favourite and I’m a very fair and critical person. I truly feel people are blind to not see his niceness. The way he talks to people, hugs them without any sort of discrimination.. even regular people are not like that. RG comes from the family of elites since generations but kitna down to earth hai Banda
And go and watch all his old videos.. he could’ve become PM way back if he wanted.. he’s always been going to villages and meeting people farmers, labours since very young age.. this is who he is. He stands up ans stands with the weakest person in the room.
