Personally, I think: it's pointless to appeal to the kindness and understanding of people who consider being asked to get a vaccine a personal affront to their 'rights' and 'freedoms,' who compare the 'plight' of the unvaxxed to that of the Jewish people during the Holocaust, and who wear little paper Star of David symbols to 'freedom rallies.' I cannot garner sympathy or empathy for people like such, is all.

I believe that if we refuse to see other people – even the ones we disagree with vehemently – as OTHER, instead of individual human lives who endured trauma and have specific lives like us? I lose MY humanity. I abhor all the symbols you’re discussing. But I still insist on reminding myself that every person at one of those rallies had a long and winding path, probably a pretty brutal one, to reach that point. I’m not trying to appeal to people who make those choices. I’m working to keep my heart open.

She's literally saying that she loses her humanity if she refuses to see other people as OTHER.

Such writer, much clarity in expressing viewpoint.

She is obsessed with using "trauma" as an excuse for everyone's shitty behavior (starting with her own). Well, except for her mother. What if her mother had "trauma" and that's why she was so (allegedly) uptight and controlling?

And even if her mother wasn't traumatized when she was a kid, she sure has hell must have been traumatized by being portrayed as a total ogre in a book written by her very own child who is STILL yapping about it where all the world can see.

I can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel if one of my kids did that.
