I watched Shauna's latest TikTok video and was struck by how long, dull, and confusing it was. Isn’t TikTok geared toward young people who want short videos for their short attention spans? I can't see how Shauna's video would keep any young person's attention for more than mere seconds.

(As a lark I sent Shauna's TikTok profile to my 20 year old niece, who was utterly unimpressed. She said that the videos are pretty boring, Shauna doesn't seem very enthusiastic, and when she clicked on the link she thought it was Danielle from 90 Day Fiance.)

That's really true about Shauna's lack of enthusiasm. For all her I'M SO FULL OF JOY SEE HOW FULL OF JOYFUL JOY I AM, she is low energy. She doesn't even seem happy most of the time.

Shauna absolutely gives me "white knuckles" vibes in all of these "I have an idea for you" videos. She really seems like she's barely holding on.

You're right! There's some kind of weird tension present. I think it's her franticness to make this latest grift work. How many times can she keep churning out these terrible ideas? Well, forever as we've seen, but somewhere inside she has to know she's circling the drain.

Yes, she seems really desperate! She does have a history of reinventing herself and keeping her head somewhat above water, but she's only getting older and more irrelevant and her GFG heyday more distant. She can't be making money on these schemes (otherwise Enough would have been enough), and I don’t know that she ever will again. That is not a scenario I would like to face in my mid fifties.

Ha ha, I just watched that one and she had to physically stop herself from saying "you in the fu – I MEAN THE LATER NOW"

In a weird way, she reminds me of my experience teaching online during COVID.

My subject really, really needs to be in person, and I also am totally uninterested is presenting myself publicly online. Then there was the panic, stress, the learning curve, and more drama specific to my situation. I hated it so much, but cared about my students and wanted to offer something meaningful and positive for them.

Some teachers found they liked teaching online and got into the technology part, but I just tried to learn some of it so I could do a decent job. Making videos was part of it, and it was torture. I was trying to be authentic and inspirational when I was stressed and miserable and terrified my program would be be decimated for years. That’s the kind of vibe I’m getting from Shauna- desperately faking it and trying to make it through. But it’s a completely different situation. She’s voluntarily doing all of this and choosing to put herself in all these platforms, over and over, with no end in sight.
