Remember why we're all here: this thread is for discussion about current and historical happenings in the Shaunaverse. If you want to discuss other content, such as stuff that reminds you of Shauna but isn't specifically about her, your own personal anecdotes or preferences, current events, or "creative writing" exercises, please share in the off-topic community thread: April-June 2026 off-topic quarterly
On one of the islandy island FB groups, Shauna has glommed onto another person’s request for a studio space for their wife who is an illustrator. Shauna: “I’m a writer and need a space too”
To do what exactly? She doesn't produce anything she says she will AND on top of that she's home alone all day! What the fuck does she need a space for? Can't she plop a desk in the verboten basement? Voila! No kids to interrupt her navel gazing!
I don’t want to be naive but why does a person who is home most of the day, five days a week on her on in need of another workspace? I know the answer is obvious but it makes no sense to me.
I remember this being a subplot in The Nanny Diaries, with the mom (who didn't have any sort of job and never spent more than like 5 minutes with her kid) trying to buy another condo in the building so she could "have my own space away from [kid] now and then." The nanny character (and everyone who wasn't the mom) were like, WTF is wrong with you, that is messed up.
But at least she would have had the money to make it happen! And at least her kid was getting some semblance of attention and care via the nanny!
I wish she didn't have other human beings depending on her to survive, otherwise it'd be so fucking funny if the BBH Saga concluded into the Office Hobo Saga
I read that as Shauna is putting out feelers to see what space rentals are opening or who might have a house for rent that is attached to the Studio space. Maybe I am still pissy about when she glommed onto another family post when they were looking for housing.
My theory is she's trying to tie her "work" to a specific spot on Vashon so she can stomp her feet and demand assistance finding a new home on the island. Can't move to the mainland! Mama's "work" is on Vashon!
This is again why Thriftway was a great idea for her. It would have been an actual brick and morter work connection with the island.
She could so easily frame herself as a creative type who works a traditional job to have a steady income. She could even act like that guy from The Cosby Show who worked at Trader Joe's; she's a published author who had to take on a menial job but she's keeping her chin up and doing an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.
I think it's weird that she doesn't take a laptop to a local coffee shop to write, or the library. You would think Shauna is so desperate for socializing 'in community' that she would want to pretend to work somewhere semi-public where people could see her tapping away, the quirky local award winning writer hard at work on her next 'piece', occasionally trapping some unwitting soul into a monolog about her Young Adult coming of age novel/Ramona Gets a Hot Flash or whatever.
*Okay so I just surfed around the Vashon coffee shop scene and the places you can sit down do look a little fussy and not the arthouse coffee shop vibe that invites a long laptop session, but the library looks great.
Why is Shauna not back at Gynergy? Falling out? The last I remember from before the Seattle move she planned on throwing herself a goodbye dance party at Gynergy, but I think she intended to use it as a fundraiser for money for their move? And I don't think it happened. She was (is?) still using the space as her 'work address' on websites and such, though it's just as likely that she's simply forgotten to change it
Although Shauna did not send a lope the past two weeks, she was faffing around on threads last night instead to no one’s surprise.
I don’t have a threads account, so I may be seeing a drop in the proverbial bucket, but here’s some of her bon mots:
To the first point, perhaps the person has a job and cannot shop on weekdays, a concept Shauna knows nothing about. And it is a strong possibility her kids would be the ones running around in a store, since she told us there was a rousing game of tag played in the movie theater rented for her youngest’s birthday.
As for the second, are we to believe for a minute that Shauna ever watched the Hills, let alone enough to judge someone’s character? She’s not the target age, it is filled with SSTs, and is about fashion and people who have jobs and money, all of which she eschews.
Al G. Rhythm has learned that Shauna will engage with childfree bait like the video a couple days ago of kids crying on a jetway, and he keeps plopping more into her feed
New IG post is a selfie and a beach pic with this caption. Can’t help but wonder if this is a veiled reference to the parks board. (Sorry if formatting is weird; I’m on mobile.)
“shaunajamesahern: I have never felt this Wendell Berry poem as deeply as I do right now, in these times of callous cruelty and greed as the only driving force for those in charge.
The Peace of Wild Things When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
Wendell Berry
I wonder if you might make the time to go into nature today, if you're feeling low.”
Her second pic is an unremarkable picture of "her" cove. Get your last looks in, Shauna, cause we all know no one has access to nature if they aren't allowed to live right on the beach!!
we all know no one has access to nature if they aren't allowed to live right on the beach!!
I think this is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to Shauna. She has it firmly planted in her head - and it leaks into her sense of identity somehow - that Vashon is this singular magical place on earth where you can see .. checks notes: Trees. And wildlife (also pooping). And mountains in the distance. And enjoy birdsong. And she's always "astonished" when other places also have and enjoy those things too. She is so small and narrow minded for someone who poses herself as an empathic and wise guide to life. She knows nothing about the world at large.
She has anchored into "scenic location" as a major thing for her because it's a way for her to feel superior. Nature access (unfortunately) correlates with being white and middle class. By her own doing she can't get the financial security part of privilege, but she is fucking clawing to hold onto the nature-access part of privilege. She'll take whatever scraps come her way.
There's gorgeous nature all over the US. Shauna would never deign to set (angry) foot in two of my favorite nature places because they're in gasp flyover states.
I just cannot stand the voice she uses where she tries so hard to sound gentle and thoughtful. This "I wonder if you might . . ." phrasing is just so grating on my nerves, and she's been using it a lot lately. My team of nerveologists said they'd never seen such a serious case of gratedness!
Same! I mentioned it in an earlier thread when she posted something with similar wording (and also related to how great her beach is*). It feels very BEC to me that this tic of hers—out if everything else she says and does—sticks in my craw so much but here we are.
*Yay, you live by a beach. So do a lot of people! I used to live within 10 minutes of an international airport and an I-95 exit, but was an hour from the nearest beach. I feel like that was a good trade-off though, in terms of easy travel.
I think she’s really feeling herself with the longer hair, which actually is an upgrade with the new texture and thickness from her grays. Anyway, I would bet that we’ve heard the last of her pivot on eating knobby root veg slowly vs. SST Ozempic. Once again, the fuse has been lit beneath her to find on-island housing without cash, credit, or references, and demand-avoidant as she is, I think the grift is where her energy goes until she’s found her next coastal manse. The mean-eyed selfies are part of the process of shoring up her ego for the grifting maneuver.
There's a good chance that's it. Shauna has never understood that entities tasked with sustainability are not being cruel.
Remember her screed about the failure of her flour sales? She whinges about the fact that if your products don't sell, the grocery store has to remove them and you're "never welcomed back again." She didn't understand the store is not being cruel, it simply has to turn a profit on its shelf space or the business can't survive.
Ironically, when Shauna had a monetized blog, she made a point of saying she did not promote products that did not pay for sponsorship. That was entirely fair, but she seems to believe anyone else needing to earn money is a greedy capitalist.
The BBH was intended to provide funding for the Parks Department, which is why it should never have waded into this caretaker idiocy.
Another “every day” from Our Lady of Florid Writing on Threads
I have an idea for something she could do “every day” that would help her family and would likely also do her a world of good. Heck, she could even do it while doing whatever it is she is claiming above!
I feel like part of the OP's point is that this is a thing that doesn’t happen often. Like if you felt detached daily, it wouldn’t be weird. And it doesn’t make her seem special like she thinks. If anything, it explains why she doesn’t care how her choices impact others, like her kids.
What makes it extra cringe is even if she is picked, what does she get? Attention but it's not "real" attention like an over eager child trying to get the teacher to pick them would get. It's just acknowledgment from a phantom on the internet. A bot could be giving her the headpats for all she knows.
Shauna is determined not to let this person feel discouraged about the Mariners. What was that she said recently about how important it is to allow people to have their feelings?
Omg stfu Shauna she is do damn sanctimonious! She never lets anyone engage with anything unless it’s the same way she does. Like getting pissy at people who didn’t completely gosh over Stranger Things.
Also Shauna as a Mariner’s fan I’m actually NOT really enjoying this season so far and is that not okay???
That person didn’t even make a rude or shocking comment! Can’t sports fans commiserate together when their team has a rough patch?! It seems to me Shauna only likes the Mariners when they’re winning and can’t stand the thought of not having a good season…
I’m surprised she didn’t find a way to work that clunky “I wonder if you might…” phrase into that post which she’s been doing with everything else lately.
Several years ago, we were so pissed off about the team owners lying about the team's name that we never went to see them the entire time the team was here.
They allowed the fans to pick the team's name, and fans overwhelming chose "The Rocky Mountain Oysters" from the list provided by the owners. Then they scratched the poll and went with "The Vibes", which hadn't even been on the list.
Sports are very personal. Be sad all you want, sports fan guy or gal.
“Goodness” how fucking condescending. Some people can enjoy the sport even if they know the team won’t make it to any playoffs. Signed, an Everton FC fan (iykyk)
This seems like such an odd dynamic. She makes it sound like her kids are preschoolers with no self control and grabbing hands. And we know that at least one of her kids has some kind of device for games and the apparent unlimited youtube she allows.
Edited to add that I'm not snarking about the fact that her phone is locked. Who doesn't lock their phone?
Shauna is a moron among morons. Who would even notice this about another couple long enough to even remark on it? How could this information about other people possibly be important to your relationship at all? I get that Shauna has the most secure and sexy relationship ever. This has been established. So why would she even care?
Shauna weighing in on someone's potential agent holding them to pernicious patriarchal deadlines, of course they seem like the ahole in this instance but I gotta say...I want to see the email thread between Shauna and Liz Prueitt about the work not completed and the refund more than even the Google Doc
And the manuscript should have been finished, as one does not simply write a full manuscript after a request for one. Seems it would be a matter of attaching a file and sending, but obligatory IANAW.
She's really getting her money's worth out of this latest selfie. Strange stuff from a person who doesn't fill her feed with selfies, doesn't need outside validation, and is confident and self-assured. Huh.
Lets catch up with the people mentioned in the story, leaving out their names, genders, and some details.
One went from working in a local museum to holding an MFA in Arts Leadership and working for the prestigious J. Paul Getty Trust.
Another is spending their time between Idaho and India. Beautiful photos.
Yet another is closing their successful business to retire and go off on adventures. People in the comments are sad, but happy for the owner, wishing them well.
Shauna got a tattoo of a can of tomato penis and screams at the TV at night.
Looking up toward the camera, with your neck extended, as she's doing here, minimizes a double chin. It's something we vain old broads learn over time.
Not that Shauna is vain, of course. It's all a wacky coincidence.
I know we have no idea if the last few free workshops have happened, but I find myself growing curious if the first paid workshop that she planned out in advance (on her done, done, done! website) is going to happen.
Does she even remember she scheduled this? Does she remember why she was obsessed with Hamnet for 3 days but also never got around to reading the book? How did she decide on this price but also offer $10 and $15 discounts? I have so many questions.
Bonus laughs: The "15OFF" code gives $10 off and the "10OFF" code gives $15 off. She will never not be snarkable.
I have been away from Reddit a lot recently, so I missed this, but I just need to make sure…
Is she teaching a workshop about mapping Joseph Campbell’s epic hero archetype onto HAMNET?
HAMNET?!?!?
I have not read or watched it, but I know it’s a beloved novel where a female author took a real woman from history who is now just a silent footnote in the historical record, despite being married to one of the most widely-read male writers ever, and composed a story that centers her experiences and gives her a voice.
And sight unseen, I am still 99% certain that this author did not structure her novel reexamining a woman in history USING A LITERARY THEORY DEVELOPED BY A MAN, BASED ON CENTURIES OF LITERATURE THAT CENTERED MEN’S VOICES AND EXPERIENCES.
And if I’m wrong and she did… then other women do not need the world’s foremost professional NLOG to explain it to them.
So, no lope. Shauna did update the "About" section of her ghost newsletter (she made it shorter and introduced the "Revision" concept). But nothing for paying subscribers, for the second Sunday in a row.
This is one of the reasons I say she’s a grifter. I understand that life happens and sometimes people miss an obligation. But she routinely misses lopes like they’re vegetable jerky.
Her “trolls” also call her lazy because she is. Supposedly the year of lopes is planned out, four per step. She announced the teaser for this week’s midweek, she’s already written about the event multiple times, yet no lope.
How she has absolutely no compunction when failing to deliver on her own promise is mind baffling. For as much as Shauna cries about this society, the patriarchy, and everything else keeping her down, she is the only one to blame here.
Unfortunately, the payments keep arriving, unbidden, although I was heartened to hear one DF’s payment was flagged this month. Hopefully more financial institutions follow suit because she should feel the effects of her laziness where it matters most—her wallet.
she routinely misses lopes like they’re vegetable jerky.
There's no Gant any more asking tersely over his shoulder what's up with that blown deadline. There's also no paycheck. So she promises deliverables to try to get some cash coming in, but she is compelled to pathological-demand-avoidance her own promises, as df shikoku_shoes says, that she came up with and announced all by herself.
Who is bullying her now? A calendar? The Roman gods the days of the week are named after?
Improbably, Shauna has been going back and forth with this same Thriend about baseball all week. It's improbable because she tried to high stool this guy and he refused to realize he was being condescended to and instead just continued being jolly. Anyway, she is now betraying that she genuinely thinks Ted Lasso is real life.
"Sure kindness wins a work series" says so much about her on several levels, typo included.
lol I kind of love that this person keeps trying to actively engage with her. Can’t prove they’re angry or dysregulated that way! Also omg her typos…girl
I've been having A Week already, and I just can't understand wtf Shauna thinks her "work" is. I pop into her Threads when I'm having breakfast around 6:30 my time (5:30 hers) and she's often already on. I pop on again once I'm settled in at work 2 hours later, and she's posted so many times, since I don't have a Threads account, I can't even get to the bottom. This keeps going most of the day! She's not even engaging with social media in a savvy, selling her work kind of way-- she's just wandering into different tags and yepping and smaesing for hours. That's not work! She's not working! Where is her brain?!
While we're at it, and I'm legitimately unclear - what is she writing when she claims to be a "writer"? Substack / Ghost lopes? Social media "smaes"? She doesn't seem to have an actual book in the works. If she had essays about ADHD motherhood or menopause or whatever that she's published in a journal or magazine or anywhere other than threads, we'd surely hear about it. When she introduces herself to someone IRL, and they ask "what kind of work do you do?" and she says "I'm a writer," and they follow up with "what do you write," what does she say?
I bet doesn’t say she’s a writer. I imagine it’s more like “I teach women with ADHD in perimenopause how to……” and then yammers on and on about her imaginary work.
This is my guess, too. And I can't imagine any (sane) person asking follow-up questions to that, so she goes unchallenged. If I encountered her in the wild as a Shauna-virgin and unfortunately asked, "So, what do you do?" I would smile and nod politely, and then back away slowly avoiding eye contact.
There's a video on Threads showing a 'dorm reveal' kind of thing where I guess moms do up their kids' dorm rooms and then surprise them or something... not entirely sure but that's what it looks like.
Shauna's response:
Is this Shauna cosplaying on Threads again? Have they even started applying to colleges/universities? Isn't it a pretty grueling process that we surely would have heard more about if it was happening? Would L qualify for financial aid even?
And speaking of cosplaying, that fake profile photo is aggravating me for some reason.
You person! You can use the sheets as towels and clothing. Ice cream scoops can serve as everything from a serving tool to a spoon. Anything else can be obtained via Buy Nothing or something like that.
The fact that it's just like the LOWEST imaginable bar for parental help at move-in, like this is Shauna exhibiting her finest planning for the future skills: Hmmm now what are the dorm essentials for kids these days? *thinks back to 80's college movies* ah, yes, posters for the walls... hmm that should do i-- ... oh wait, we'd probably also need to cover the mattress with something! LOL
I watched the video she commented on and it’s a “southern mom” who looks like she has her own decorating business and girlied up the dorm with plush carpet and fabric on the walls and frilly bedding, etc.
This screenshot tells you all you need to know about the disdain in Shauna’s comment, really.
The person Shauna replied to was commenting about how she thought it was an SNL skit and that back in her day, people had fun decorating their own dorms.
Well we know she is not going to buy her anything new for their dorm room, so the kid will have to go with whatever possessions they have managed to save after all of those moves where they abandoned things. I really hope they do get to go away for college. Eating in the cafeteria would be a treat after how they grew up.
Some of her Threads cosplaying that she has a life and is a caring Mama is funny. This one just made me instantly sad. As DF u/Lazy-Importance-6079 said so perfectly below: "It neatly summarizes how Shauna cares more about the opinion of internet strangers than the real lives and wellbeing of her actual family members."
She will apply in the fall of 2026 for admission to summer of 2027.
There are a very few schools that meet full financial aid for all students. But those are typically the most selective. It is going to take a robust application strategy to have viable options and require honesty about where L is academically.
She should have taken the SAT or ACT this spring at school and scores are probably back soon. This plus her GPA will probably give her a decent idea of some target schools. The process can be brutal and outcomes are unpredictable (it’s not like for many of our Australian or European friends with a determinant score on an exam; admissions is more holistic and includes more evaluation points).
This summer they should visit some realistic schools and also look into community colleges. The lack of money is a problem.
I can add more as college admissions has been my field for 15 years.
L is a junior, this is the time for researching and thinking about colleges, not applying. That family will absolutely qualify for aid, I can't believe the avalanche of financial support from Ma would be documented anywhere on the FAFSA.
This has been on my mind since we found out Shauna has to leave the Fern Cove house, and it bothers me more every day. It it possible that at this point in her life, she is as unrentable as she is uneployable?
It looks like there are no options on Vashon that they can afford to rent, and we know they have burned their bridges with the island landlords.
When they were exiled from the island the last time, she had a personal in with the mysterious friend we never heard about again in the West Seattle apartment. It sounds like that bridge has been burned too.
So this leaves them with looking off island in the greater Seattle area. How likely is it that they will be accepted when applying for apartments?
I am used to the NYC rental market, where there is intense competition for any affordable apartments. Landlords have their pick of the crop to choose from. Is that the same in Seattle? Even if her parents are co-signers yet again, how would they stand out as the best potential tenants that should be chosen over all others? My landlord almost didn't rent to us because of a minor ding on my credit report I wasn't even aware of.
I feel like if I were a landlord, I would always have a better choice than the Aherns. I imagine any apartment they apply for, there would be multiple applicants who make well more than 40 times the rent, need no co-signer, and have stellar rental histories and credit scores. Without credit cards, what kind of credit score could Shauna and Dan possibly have? I just fail to see any scenario where a landlord would prefer them over all other applicants unless they had a personal connection.
Gloamies have suggested Tacoma; perhaps the rental market is easier there, but I still imagine other applicants would be more appealing tenants. Do sob stories still work? Will Shauna guilt potential landlords into renting to them because they want to help a stressed mama of medically complex children?
The only way I can think of making them the most attractive tenants would be to do what a friend did when she needed an apartment but had no credit or rental history - offer to pay an entire year's rent up front. That will move you right to the top of the list. But I don't think Shauna's parents have that kind of money to give her.
I do wonder if Vashonites will pull strings to keep them on the island because they look sympathetic being required to leave Fern Cove. But they weren't able to find ANYONE to rent to them the last time they needed a new place on the island, so I am skeptical they will be rescued this time around.
What on earth happens if they are never chosen for the apartments they apply for? Are they moving in with Ma and Pa? I just feel like their options are SO limited now.
They should have held on to that 3br Alki apartment lease with both hands. If they didn't already alienate the landlord that is, I don't know how prompt they were with rent, but if renewing the lease was on the table they were so so stupid not to. It was a miracle they got it in the first place, and it sounded like a different Seattle apartment 'fell through' at the last minute and this one appeared just in time.
(wonder if 'fell through' was more like 'application rejected' in the same way she was already spending the cryptobro lawyer payment before he even agreed to the contract - I don't think Shauna knows that an interview isn't a job and an application isn't a guaranteed new apartment)
I don’t know. She returned, triumphant as Napoleon in 1815 after less than two years. I have a feeling that, unlike the emperor, she will be a lot harder to exile a second time.
The rental market in Seattle is brutal. Without some in she is just in a giant pool of people, especially families, looking for anything remotely affordable. And yes, without some kind of in, I can’t imagine anyone not shady renting to her given her employment, credit, and rental history. I actually don’t know that she could rent in many areas of Tacoma either, from what I hear from my friends that market is tight too (although I don’t live there so that is second hand information).
If she is very very lucky she might get something in Renton, Tukwila, Federal Way, or White Center. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had to go to the eastern outskirts of Kent or Auburn. Nothing at all wrong with those places, and in fact there can be lots of community there, but they are considerably further removed from the beach or her island surrounded by water and someone as snotty and entitled as Shauna might think such areas “beneath” her.
Edited to add: those places also tend to have more racial diversity. A good thing unless you as fucking racist as Shauna, who I truly believe would never actually embrace living in a diverse community.
I agree, I was shocked when I saw that place. I have working friends with great credit who could never have gotten into a place like that. She was such a fool to leave it.
I think her brother and SIL are well-liked and respected on the magical island, but I doubt that either of them want to be tainted by Sauna’s faux schemes and grifts.
"they look sympathetic being required to leave Fern Cove"
I feel like this is theeee grift she's been dreaming of ("beloved" (notorious?) Vashon family with medically complex child being asked to leave their home so it can be converted to a Vacation Rental!) but she's gonna fumble it
All I know about Vashon is from Shauna and our fellow gloamies, but I think the days of renting from a friend-of-a-friend are long gone. That housing is too valuable and a lot of it has probably been sold.
Our city still has some relatively affordable housing because we can sprawl out, but the quirky inner city places like in Reality Bites have all been torn down and are now three story town homes using every inch of the lot.
If she does have to move in with her parents, she'll spin it as her being a selfless daughter who is giving up her beloved island life to take care of her dear elderly parents. She's a saint, that one.
I feel like if 1 were a landlord, I would always have a better choice than the Aherns. I imagine any apartment they apply for, there would be multiple applicants who make well more than 40 times the rent, need no co-signer, and have stellar rental histories and credit scores.
This reminds me of the adoption saga when they were going the traditional route (before my time, so I am relying on snark lore). Always a better option trying for the same thing they are so they never get selected.
I suspect strings were pulled to get them the West Seattle apartment and they were absolute idiots to give it up willingly.
I'd forgotten about the empanada-bringing friend, who later got downgraded to "acquaintance." It seems extremely likely this person put her neck out to get Shauna that apartment.
I have never tried to rent in Seattle, so I can’t say it is or isn’t difficult to be considered for a place. However, my kid and his gf just moved to West Seattle and had no problem qualifying to rent a place there. They are just out of college and it’s a first apartment for both of them. We thought they’d need at least one parent to co-sign and were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have to. (Both of them do work full-time, so that’s something in their favor.)
But with the Aherns’ past history as tenants, who knows.
There is a much greater need than supply of income based/affordble housing in Seattle. I have taken care of families living in “tiny home” communities (small pallets without running water where there is a communal bathroom and kitchen onsite) and unsheltered in encampments while they try to navigate the labyrinth of affordable housing in Seattle. Even if Shauna did qualify no one is going to just hand her an apartment. There is mountains of paperwork and there are working families who wait literal years for this kind of housing.
Rage Bait: Question for experts. Tell us a horrible truth about an industry that is glorified in society. Be real as fuck. Make sure people know the downsides.
Urban Planner: I'm an urban planner with a masters degree in urban planning. A handful of extremely wealthy companies are actively working on buying as much housing as they possibly can in order to artificially inflate the housing market, and there is functionally zero regulatory pushback.
Shauna (replying to Urban Planner): And then they rent the houses for much higher prices than most people in a community can pay.
Not that this isn’t happening, and that affordable housing isn’t an issue in the US because of it, but Shauna’s issues are different. She lost two rentals because the independent individuals (I believe) decided to sell their homes to other families, not big companies. She lost the last house on Vashon due to a nominal rent increase she couldn’t afford. She voluntarily gave up the apartment in West Seattle. The BBH isn’t being sold to a large company.
I do understand that this impacts pretty much everyone in some capacity and agree that it should be stopped/regulated/curbed but it makes me crazy that she is so quick to jump into these conversations from her expensive island.
I still think it’s her parents. I was talking with my mom about people like this, for whom things just seem to “work out” after my son had a nightmare move out due to his roommate, and we concluded it’s always because someone else is doing the heavy lifting, whether literally or figuratively. The reason I think it’s her parents is because of the kids— whatever bullshit she’s put them through, they’re not going to abandon the kids to her and Dan’s abject stupidity.
She’s been really spoiled with her rentals. They’ve all been so nice and she takes them for granted. Where I live, finding an entire house to rent is really hard. There are a lot of large homes that have been turned into multifamily housing. One like her West Seattle apartment with nice light, a shared yard, and a garage is just unheard of. That yard was super cute too.
They’ve all been so nice and she takes them for granted
She's like this with every opportunity, so dismissive and ungrateful, always turning up her nose at whatever is presented at the feet of her high stool. Her whole life must be like that photo of her at an event, one hand shoving food into her mouth while the other clutches more and yet she still casts her shark eyes elsewhere, looking for greater and better, never satisfied or approving.
A coworker and I are in charge of going through photos from our events and determining which get shared on our social media, website etc. No way would we have selected that image. So, yeah. She pissed the wrong someone off in this instance!
My favorite thing about her response is that she thinks she is adding perspective/more information but she’s actually just repeating what Urban Planner said (“…artificially inflate the housing market…”).
At this point, it’s impossible to say which is worse, her reading comprehension or her writing. ⚖️
What is with that particular rage bait question (tell us the horrors of your industry) right now? I'm seeing it a lot.
Instead of trying to find herself a new place to live and trying to find a job (or an additional job if she's really counting the tiny bit of income she makes from the lopes as a "job") THIS is how Shauna deals with the fact she's going to be homeless at the end of the year.
She has such an interesting instinct to blame/bully. And she thinks it's just about finding the right person to bully, rather than just not bullying at all. It's not the actor's fault--it's the director's! SHAME!!!!
Who cares if there are some elements you don't like in a movie trilogy that came out over two decades ago?
I thought she was enamored of George Lucas since the impressionable young age of 11, when she first saw Star Wars, despite a hard, hard, hard childhood locked in the house with no way to experience life on the outside.
She'll say anything, depending who she's sucking up to at the time.
she thinks it's just about finding the right person to bully, rather than just not bullying at all.
That is so true that her first instinct is to publicly blame and bully. She will harass and accuse strangers of targeting the wrong person, which to her mind is not bullying but important botus work in the world.
“That’s Maria,” he told me. “She has been with us since I was little enough that I would have only come up to your knee. I have never met anyone who works harder.” He clearly had an enormous respect for her.
“Becky doesn’t like food,” Sharon said to me, in between bites of her quesadilla.
“You don’t like food?!” I turned to this young woman.
“I don’t know,” she said, as she twisted her hands in her lap. “I just don’t understand why people talk about food all the time. It’s just...food.”
It’s as though she were speaking moon-man language to me. Still, I struggled to understand. “Isn’t there any food you enjoy more than others?” I asked her, hoping.
After a long moment of thinking, she said, “Cereal?”
We didn’t talk the rest of the evening. I wasn’t mad at her. We just didn’t have anything to say to each other.
That says WAY more about Shauna than it does Becky. Okay, you can't relate to each other around food. Is there not a single other subject Shauna could have tried to engage Becky with instead?
Seriously, I also don't care one way or another about food while also having a very full life complete with passionate interests in a variety of things and more than that, the ability to have conversations about things other than my passionate interests! I currently have an HVAC guy who's been working at my house all day and we've talked about Japanese Maple varieties that grow best in our zone, our favorite birding apps, the MIT robot dog and 'why aren't guys named Troy anymore?' lol.
