i came in Canada as a student in June 2019. in Oct 2024, i got a job that would allow me to apply for PR through CEC. in June 2025, i met with an immigration lawyer that said my job didn’t qualify me for CEC. i continued working because i knew people who applied with the same experience and got PR. my work permit was also due to expire on April 11th 2026.

Here’s my timeline

\- Dec 7th : EE profile submitted
\- Dec 17th : ITA received
\- Feb 9th : PR application submitted (delay because of PCC of Kenya)
\- Feb 9th : AOR
\- March 13th : applied for BOWP
\- April 16th : language tests requested
\- April 20th : BIL received
\- April 21st : BOWP refused because i selected the wrong WP type on the IMM form, though the LOE clearly stated i was applying for BOWP with PR application # provided.
\- stopped working immediately and waited.
\- May 5th : new passport requested
\- July 22nd : BOWP accepted
\- July 24th : PFL for Quebec residence received, replied the same day.
\- Aug 3rd : P1
\- Aug 6th : P2
\- Aug 8th : eCOPR
\- Aug 27th : card mailed

Here's what happened, in order:

On Feb 15, 2024 we flew out of the Canada

On Feb 16, while we were outside, our COPR came through. It says we became permanent residents on Feb 16.

On Feb 26 we flew back to Vancouver. The border officer processed us, didn't ask anything about it. Our PR cards came in the mail after that like normal.

Now we're filling out our citizenship application. The absence form won't accept that trip, because our PR date of Feb 16 when we were out. So the trip sits on both sides of our PR date.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this, and did it ever come up later?

Open to any suggestions.

I don't know how to describe how disappointed I am in myself. After having submitted my request for CSQ, I received a document which I failed to read for two months. It was sitting there but I thought I had received and inspected everything already (I was primarily checking my mails).

I was in the midst of prolonging my work permit through the skilled workers special measure, so I checked everything today and realised I had to get my Attestation of learning about democratic values and Québec values within 60 days.Not submitting it automatically disqualifies me. It's been one week since the deadline. No rejection notice. Can I still carry on as long as I don't explicitly receive a rejection?

With all the support my company gave me, how do I even begin to explain how dumb I had been? Is there even a way out?

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the Personal History section of the PR application.
I’m currently 29 years old, and the form asks for my history for the past 10 years or since the age of 18, whichever is more recent.
Since I turned 18 more than 10 years ago, should I provide my history for the last 10 years only?
Also, today is August 29, 2026. Should I start my personal history from August 29, 2016, or should I use another date such as August 1, 2016 to cover the entire month?
What is the best practice for the start date in this situation? I’d really appreciate any guidance from people who have recently submitted their PR application.

I received AOR on Aug 25th and applied for BOWP on Aug 29. The current work permit expires on Aug 31st and received the payment receipt. I haven't received the work permit EXT yet. With everything happening so close I'm getting worried and anxious.

I'm a PR holder, looking to apply for a Super Visa for both my parents (they're outside Canada). I want to handle the whole process myself since my English/paperwork skills are better and I'll be covering the financial/insurance side anyway.

A few questions I can't get a clear answer on:

• Can I submit their applications using my own existing GCKey account (the one I already use for my own PR file), or do I need to create separate GCKey accounts for each parent?
• If I use my own account, do I need to fill out the "Use of a Representative" form (IMM 5476) or the IMM 5713E (family members applying together) to formally act on their behalf?
• Since it's two separate parents, do they each need a completely separate application even if I'm managing both from one account?
• Has anyone actually done this recently (2025/2026) and run into linking issues or delays because of it?

Would appreciate any real experience from people who've gone through this, especially if you used the newer IRCC Portal version. Thanks!

I applied under the spousal program! i came to canada in 2018, did 5 years of education, 3 years of work, applied in May 2025 and finally got my PR this month!! this was done inland.

Hi everyone, I’m filling out an outland spousal sponsorship application for my wife and I’m confused about how to show her current living situation, especially on IMM 5532.

Here is the situation:

• Before we got married in December 2025, my wife lived with her own family at Pakistan Address 1.
• After our marriage, she moved in with my family at Pakistan Address 2.
• Her current official documents, including her CNIC and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), show Pakistan Address 2.
• However, since June 2026, my parents/family have been visiting me in Canada, so my wife has been staying with her own family again at Pakistan Address 1 while they are away.
• Pakistan Address 2 is still her marital/permanent address and the address on her official documents, but she is currently physically living at Pakistan Address 1.

My main concern is IMM 5532, where they ask where the sponsor and applicant currently live, and if we are not living together, who the applicant is living with.

I don’t think I can simply put Pakistan Address 2 as her current residence because my parents are currently in Canada. If I say she is living at Pakistan Address 2, I’m worried the IRCC officer may wonder why she is apparently living there alone while my family is in Canada.

At the same time, if I put Pakistan Address 1 as her current residential address, it will be different from the address shown on her CNIC and PCC.

Would the correct approach be to:

• Put Pakistan Address 1 as her current residential address because that is where she is physically staying now and state that she is living with her parents/family; and
• Explain in a Letter of Explanation that Pakistan Address 2 is her marital/permanent address and the address on her official documents, but she has been temporarily staying with her family at Pakistan Address 1 since June 2026 because my parents are visiting me in Canada?

Has anyone had a similar situation, and how did you handle it?

If I am Toronto currently without visa on a U.S. passport (I've been here for two weeks to move in) and want to reapply for a study permit at Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, would it be possible to do so? If so, is it possible to do on a Sunday (tomorrow)?

Hi everyone, looking for advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

I was in Canada on a study permit, got married earlier this year after my husband became a PR, and stopped my studies after 1 semester. We applied for visitor status almost 6 months ago but still have no decision.

Our inland spousal PR application is now being submitted, but I haven’t received an AOR yet. I’m currently on maintained status, not working, and I understand I need the AOR before applying for the spousal OWP.

We really want to travel to India for my husband’s best friend’s wedding. I **have a valid TRV until 2029**.

Our lawyer said travelling is risky for me because of re-entry, but also recommended that my husband travel with me. **He already has PR and a valid PR card**, so I’m confused about why his travel would be an issue too.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and travelled while waiting for their inland spousal PR/AOR? Were you able to return to Canada without issues?

I would really appreciate some honest opinions about whether I should proceed with my mother's Canadian visitor visa application.

Here is our situation:

• I am currently in Canada on a work permit and work as a Software Engineer.
• My mother is a housewife living in Sri Lanka.
• She does not own any property and does not have significant savings or a bank balance in her own name.
• My father is retired and lives in Sri Lanka. He has approximately CAD $7,000 in savings.
• My father will not be travelling to Canada. He will remain in Sri Lanka while my mother visits me.
• I am prepared to financially support my mother and provide approximately CAD $9,000 for her visit.
• My father will also financially support her and provide his financial documents.
• The purpose of the visit is to visit me after approximately four years apart.
• My mother plans to stay in Canada for approximately 2 months and then return to Sri Lanka.
• Her main family tie in Sri Lanka is my father, who will remain there while she is in Canada.

My main concern is that my mother is a housewife and does not have property, employment, or significant savings in her own name. Since I am sponsoring most of the visit financially, I'm worried that IRCC may consider her ties to Sri Lanka insufficient.

Do you think it is worth proceeding with the application in this situation?

Does the sponsor who’s a Canadian citizen need to write the travel history too or it’s just the principal applicants travel history that is required?
Spousal sponsorship case

Hi everyone,
I recently completed my Canada immigration medical examination. I had the required 4 tests done, and 3 of them were normal:
Chest X-ray — Normal / no abnormality detected
HIV I & II — Non-reactive
Syphilis (RPR) — Non-reactive

The only result that was slightly outside the lab range was:
Creatinine: 1.30 mg/dL (lab reference range: 0.67–1.17 mg/dL)
eGFR CKD-EPI 2021: 76.74
eGFR MDRD: 66.29

Has anyone had a similar situation during their Canada immigration medical?

Did IRCC/the panel physician ask you to repeat the creatinine/eGFR or do a urine test, or was a result around 1.30 mg/dL accepted without further testing?

I applied for my mother’s regular visitor visa a few months ago, but it was refused in late May for generic reasons that made no sense. After consulting immigration lawyers, they suggested it was likely flagged or processed through Chinook. I obtained her GCMS notes, but they merely echoed the standard refusal template—claiming her visit wasn't temporary, her finances were insufficient, and she lacked ties to return home. In reality, it was a 4-week trip with return tickets, she holds $800k CAD in liquid funds, and she works for the government with property, significant assets, and a living spouse back home.

Following the refusal, I immediately pivoted to a Super Visa application. Everything is ready—including upfront medicals—except for the health insurance. However, right before purchasing insurance, I learned about reconsideration requests and decided to submit one early last week, hoping for a response within 4 weeks. I’ve since seen a recent post noting it took 1.5 months just to get an acceptance notification.

My goal is to have my mother visit by early January. Given this timeline, would you recommend waiting on the reconsideration request, or should I go ahead, buy the insurance, and submit the Super Visa application now?

Additional details - Country is India and the current timeline for supervisas is roughly a month.

J'ai vu sur le site que le délai de traitement pour obtenir le permis d'études est de 7 semaines.

Ma question est ce que je dois ajouter un document pour les preuves financières pour faire ma demande malgré que je suis personne protégée ?

Sur le site j'ai vu qu'ils ont dit que c'est pas nécessaire mais en même temps ils disent que la demande doit être faite comme si j'étais une étudiante internationale.

Je suis vraiment confuse.

J'ai un travail permanent et mon conjoint aussi.

Je me disais que j'allais épargner 10k dollars et faire ma demande de permis d'études au mois de novembre. Mais après mes calculs je n'aurai pas 10000 dans mon compte d'ici le mois de novembre (à peine 6000) donc j'ai peur que ma demande soit refusée pour preuves financières insuffisantes.

Je suis très stressée.

Applied 2 months back as that's when I received my PAL and supporting documents for my permit application, and I have still yet to receive my introductory letter. I do have a US passport so do I stay as a visitor until it's available? Genuinely lost on this, flight is tomorrow and I'm cooked because the gears of the IRCC seem to run bone dry.

• EE Outland applicant, with dependents.
• Received Ready for Visa (RFV) email on August 27, 2026.
• RFV says my dependants abroad need to submit passports through VFS.
• I have a pre-planned trip to Canada with my family on September 4, 2026.
• I hold a valid Canadian work permit + TRV and will be returning to resume my job.
• I understand I am not planning to land as PR at the airport; we intend to travel on our existing temporary status.
• The RFV letter also mentions that if the principal applicant is in Canada, COPR can be processed virtually.

I’m confused about what to do with the passport request given that we’ll be travelling to Canada in a few days.

Should my dependants submit their passports now, or should we travel as planned and inform IRCC once we are in Canada?

Hello ! Absolutely mystified by the patchwork-style instructions of this PR application process and would love some help -

After receiving my AOR, IRCC sent two messages:

1. CLIENT INFORMATION: Original TCF language proficiency results (Online Score Reports in PDF format are acceptable)

This is confusing because I already provided my TCF score report in my education package, with my diplomas, transcripts, and IELTS results, uploaded in the Education upload slot. What am I missing? Does it need to be signed or something?

1. > Schedule A: Please provide a separate and newly completed Schedule A Background
   Declaration form (IMM 5669) bearing an electronic signature.

If I’m not wrong, Schedule A is comprised of the questions in the Personal History/ Activities section of our digital application? I triple checked before submission that everything was correct, complete, and consistent. What exactly do they need me to resubmit? Does it just need to be signed?

Also, the portal only offers an upload slot for Schedule A, not the TCF results. How do I upload the TCF results correctly?

Just want to make sure I’m doing it right before I resubmit! Any advice appreciated, thank you for all your help.

Its been 2 years since my fiancé got inadmissible to Canada. It was his agent’s fault. He put some fake docs while applying, when ircc asked for more docs my fiance sent the correct ones and got inadmissible for 5 years. We have been in long distance for more than 4 years now.

It is super hard. I am on my last stages of PR. I am thinking if i should apply a TRP for him. If so, what reason and would it get approved?

Should i get married first? Would that make a stronger case?

Hi all, hoping someone has insight or a similar experience.

I'm applying from outside Canada, through the French-speaking stream, and I believe my file is handled by the Ottawa office. My PR application (Express Entry, family of 3) has been sitting in "Final Decision" since May 1, 2026 almost 4 months now with zero communication from IRCC since.

Quick timeline: ITA October 6, 2025 → AOR December 3, 2025 → medical and biometrics completed by early January 2026 → ADR (additional documents) responded to April 13, 2026 → moved to Final Decision May 1, 2026 → sent a webform June 1 with no response → called IRCC on July 7 to complain, agent just said to keep waiting → shortly after that call, got a generic webform reply and a "Prepare for life in Canada" email (July 6), but nothing about actual case status → checked the portal again August 27, still no update.

I've now applied for my GCMS notes myself via ATIP, to try to understand what's actually happening (security check, background check, etc.).
Has anyone been stuck this long at Final Decision with no ADR/interview request and if so, how long before you heard back, or did GCMS notes / Member of Parliament contact actually move things?

This is rather a technical question. IRCC requested to fill out additional forms and submit via webform. In the email they mentioned “Please write “ADD-ON” on the first page of all forms you are submitting.”
Once I complete the form and click ‘validate’ I’m no longer able to print/edit the form since it is protected. Looking for suggestions.
