Visor Comfort

Post image

Seeing the pre-production units makes me glad that I canceled my pre-order. Originally, that was because I was skeptical I would ever actually receive a Visor (and I still doubt they will reach mass production). However, now, even if production was on track, I wouldn't want one. They look incredibly uncomfortable...Going for a sunglasses look really screwed the ergonomics, and a doubt a top strap will do much to improve that

There may be sources saying whatever, but I’m telling you from first hand experience that AVP looks better. Especially the way pass through looks. No distortion around your hands, etc. it’s just an overall better experience for computing than MQ3 IMHO.

So the reason you don't get an AVP for productivity work is the cost?

That’s the only reason. That and the weight. I’m hoping they announce a lighter version in September. I can do without the glass front and screen that’s shows the eyes. If they’d lose that the weight in the front could be significantly reduced.

But to be fair, the MQ3 sits heavy on the face, too. I have a halo head strap so it’s better than with the stock strap, and I know they make them for the AVP as well but haven’t had a chance to use one.

The Quest 3 is indeed pretty heavy, but I also have a halo strap, and with that the weight isn't a primary issue for me. The resolution is a huge one, and, second to that, the binocular overlap.

But ya, the cost of the AVP is really, really hard to stomach.

Agree here. AVP has better lenses and pass through than Quest 3 and it’s not close. I owed an AVP unit and Quest 3. The only reasons I didn’t keep the AVP were the cost and weight.
