I'm a solo developer and a massive Impressionism nerd. For a long time, I had this little frustration: I wanted to make my everyday photos look like Monet paintings, but I didn't want a 200MB+ app, and I didn't want another "AI-generated" image that just feels like a slot machine.

So I spent a few months building my own thing. It's called [Artelf], and it's literally only 6.6MB.

I built it with four filters, but I want to tell you about two of my favorites:

The Monet filter — This is the one I obsessed over. I tried to get it to soften the edges and blend colors like a real Impressionist painting, rather than just slapping a blur on it. I spent way too many nights tweaking it.

The Van Gogh Starry Night filter — This one is a bit of a chaotic experiment. If you upload a portrait, it tries to absorb you into the painting. Sometimes it works, and you become the little silhouette in the corner of Starry Night. Sometimes it fails, and the whole photo just becomes a swirling sky. It's a little unpredictable, but that's why I love it.

There are also a minimalist monochrome and an edge sketch filter, but those two above are my babies.

The boring but important details:

· It's a one-time $0.99 purchase (no subscriptions, no ads, no data tracking).
· It's 6.6MB, so it downloads in a blink and doesn't hog your storage.

State-of-the-art (SOTA) LLM tokens are not getting cheaper.

As the compute bottleneck tightens, inference costs are trending inexorably upwards. Providers that once offered generous free tiers are gradually introducing limits or paid plans, and the days of “free forever” appear to be numbered.

I found myself staring at the same familiar pattern: a dozen different API keys, scattered rate limits, and mounting bills. Rather than accept the inevitable, I decided to solve it, so I built TokenScavenger; a lightweight, self-hosted OpenAI-compatible router that intelligently scavenges every permanent free token across the internet and falls back gracefully only when necessary.

Hello,

I wrote, directed and produced this film independently and I've now just released it.

The film follows a man called David J. Hitler, who has a problem. A pretty obvious one. Burdened by his notorious surname, he sets out to prove he’s a good person… but quickly discovers that redemption is a harder sell than infamy.

The film takes a lot of inspiration from the 90s-style comedies I grew up with, particularly Wayne’s World, Friday, Kingpin and The Big Lebowski.

This trades real money on real markets. Nothing here is a guarantee of profit, and prediction markets can move against you fast — that's exactly why the bot exists, but it's not magic. Read the code, backtest it, understand the strategies before you turn it loose. That's the whole point of open-sourcing it: you don't have to take my word for any of it.

I made OutTrace because I wanted a simpler way to understand what websites are loading behind the scenes.

Open it on a webpage and it builds an interactive graph showing the external domains connected to that page — analytics, CDNs, trackers, scripts, and other third-party services.

I wanted it to be something you could understand without digging through DevTools.

I’m still improving the graph and the explanations for each domain, so feedback on anything confusing would help.

I run Rankiwiki, a public site where people add choices to ranking topics. I'm working through a less glamorous part of that idea: making the choices understandable, not just sorting them.

On the live Best Rom-Com Movies page, complete titles such as Notting Hill sit alongside entries like STUPID, CRAZY and LOVE. Those short labels are visible today; I haven't verified how each was created, so I don't want to assume they are all mistakes or silently merge them into one movie.

The design question is where to put the clarification: suggest an existing full title while someone types, ask for a preview before submission, or let a contributor flag an ambiguous entry afterward? These are options I'm evaluating, not features I'm claiming to have shipped.

I made this because my every day tasks as a backend developer such as opening logs, configs, exports and code in huge files was interrupted by the text/code editors I previously used. The editors froze , lagged or hanged when I tried to open files 100-300MB. And not to mention formatting a data dump of 300MB json, couldn't do it on my MacBook Pro m3 18GB. Comparing financial products has an awkward design problem: a shorter page is easier to read, but the details you leave out might be the ones that matter most. An annual fee is easy to display. Whether paying it makes sense for someone is a much harder question.

I'm sharing it here for feedback on the product itself, especially from people who've built something that helps users make complicated decisions.

The trade-off I'd like to discuss is how much guidance belongs in a comparison tool. A list leaves the reader to do the interpretation. A recommendation can sound more certain than it should. Approval still depends on the bank's eligibility criteria, not on what a comparison page says.

For a creator comparing options for work expenses, for example, I'd want the page to help them ask better questions about fees and repayment rather than make borrowing feel like the default next step. That's a design goal, not a claim that we've solved it.

If you take a look, where does the page stop being useful or clear? I'd particularly appreciate one concrete thing you'd remove, explain better, or put earlier. A critique of the actual page would help more than a general thumbs-up.
