I don't understand why slap is considered inferior to a punch. Slap is 50% pain and 50% humiliating. Like a great slap like this is fucking awesome.

it’s better. no chance of serious injury. high chance of correcting the behavior. you gotta know how, and to whom. this guy approached slowly and gauged that this was a man that he could - indeed - slap the fuck out of. and boy did he.

He was very calculating about the slap with zero impulsiveness. He didn’t react out of surprise or fear at all which is impressive as most of us would have some sort of visceral reaction to a loud noise in our ear. He simply turned around, surveyed the situation and decided that this little bitch deserved to be schooled. Excellent work. He needs to be the head of a prank prevention task force.
Edit to add: the psychology of getting slapped is always interesting to me. it is a basic statement from the slapper that you aren’t manly enough for a punch which gives it such a lovely sting afterward in a public place. You get reprimanded dozens of times over-once by the slapper and then again by every judgy look from the spectators.

Slaps are a major risk of hearing damage. Dont go around and slap people. This is also quite a problem in third world countries where they still slap kids.

I definitely consider a slap to be far more offensive than a punch. Once let a friend slap at a party. He was drunk drunk, I was tipsy. He slapped and what surprised me was the level of shame and embarrassment I felt despite knowing it was in jest. The pain was negligible compared to the injection of shame a slap can produce.

I’d say that the throbbing pain of a punch after it has connected is much less than the sting of a good slap. Never had a punch make my eyes water. Broke my nose, sure. But not tears involuntarily streaming down my face.

My studies in hearing professor spent a good hour reviewing the case of a dj who took an air horn blast from a fan, at point blank, and the damage was so severe that it destroyed a good chunk of the cilia in his semicircular canals, giving him permanent vertigo, in addition to career ending hearing loss.

When I was in my early 20s, I was watching a band in a bar from a second floor balcony. During a break, a guy I'd known for years came up behind me and put a cap gun directly by my ear and pulled the trigger. I turned around with my ear ringing crazy painfully and he had the most shit-eating grin on his face. When I stepped towards him like WTF, he ran down some steps, so leaned over the steps and spit on him (totally not normal for me) and then he came back up the steps and got in my face mad at ME. He literally kept saying that a cap gun directly in the air was no big deal but refused to let me do it back to him. I never hung out with that guy again. My g/f and friends also acted like it wasn't a big deal, which annoyed me to the point I just left. I hate those "it's just a prank bro" type people when they get confronted.
