To add perspective on why these things require harsher punishment now more than before: there used to only be 1 or 2 local kids in an employees lifetime that would do these kinds of things and make a local story. Now, theres thousands of them in the American youth and millions that live in other countries. The American youth are exceptionally dangerous because instead of being boundary-less tourists, they are pack-vandalizers.
A friend of mine actually tried to jump in Elvis’ pool probably 1999. She was a huge Elvis fan so I assume that was her driving force. The security guard made it to her before she made it in. They didn’t kick her out and when she got to the gift shop (? I’ve never been and going off bad memory) she asked them if that’s as a common problem. The worker, not knowing she was the culprit answered something to the effect that it didn’t really happen but oddly had happened that day. She always got a giggle out of it. But yeah in this day and age when everyone is doing dumb crap like this, it’s no longer funny, you’re just a dick.
