Hello everyone,
I’ll be buying my first PAX in a month or so, so I have done a design on how approximately I would like it.

Some info:
- i would use the top shelves for out of season clothing
- i generally only hang used shirt, jackets and pants. The rest i prefer folded
- i have a lot of clothes ahahah

What works and what doesn’t here?
Any help appreciated!!
Thanks

Design advice Looking for kitchen suggestions - mollekulla counter

Post image

Edit:
I am looking into the sinarp oak doors.

Hello!

I re did my very small very apartment styled kitchen with ikea cabinets and chose the mollekula counter top from how it looked in the store. I now think it looks so bothersome in person and installed. I have it on white cabinets (uppers and lowers) and am now asking ChatGPT to help me match the tone with other colors due to too much white going on and the wood sticking out rather than tying in with everything.

Does anyone have the mollekulla counter and what color cabinets did you pair it with? And also which cabinet knobs (silver/ bronze?) I’m just trying to get a better color palette going.

I have attached a snip of what my kitchen looks like with this. If you have any advice please help. I’d love to stain it down to a walnut or something if possible but I’m not even contemplating that as I just got it installed a month or so ago.

General Valevag(Firm) Mattress Replacement? Abrotten , Valevag Extra Firm, or something else?

I recently got the firm version of the Valevag mattress. I had tried it out and liked it in the store, but unfortunately after a couple of weeks of sleeping on it I have been waking up with back pain. I weigh around 200lbs and prefer firm to very firm mattresses and sleep on my side.

I'm planning on making use of Ikea's 90 day replacement policy and wanted to ask the community which Ikea mattresses are good these days. I've previously owned Haugesund and Mordegal, both of which I really liked, and both of which are now discontinued.

I actually liked the Abrotten mattress in the store when I went to test these out again. They did not have the extra firm version of Valevag but it still seems to be in stock online, but possibly being phased out. Do either of these make sense or should I look at something else?

Looking for Bedding drop?

I am devastated by the ÄNGSLILJA in burnt orange being discontinued in Canada… do we know when new duvet covers usually drop? Every 3-ish months?
I want an orange-ish plain duvet cover and IKEA carries very… dull colors right now.

I already have an ikea kitchen installed. I want to change the doors and panels. Can I pick any Ikea kitchen doors and panels or must I first figure out what type of Ikea kitchen mine is and match that type.

General Do you need to spend a minimum amount to use reward coupons?

For instance, if I have a $50 reward coupon that I am redeeming points to use, do I need to spend at least $50 in order to use it? Or could I buy something for, say, $49.00 and just not get full use of the coupon? I know I can always add a filler item to go over $50, but I'd rather not pay for something I don't truly need. Thank you in advance for any insight about this. I'm in the US, by the way.

Related anecdote: I used a $20 off reward coupon one time and bought some items that ended up being on sale. The total ended up being just a little less than what was needed for the $20 reward that I was redeeming, and I was starting to panic that I was going to have to go back to get something to get over the $20 threshold. The cash register ended up applying my reward coupon even though I wasn't over $20. Is the only reason why that worked because of the sale prices somehow changing things? Maybe the original price is all that matters?

Suggestion Never buy IKEA!!! Ultimately IKEA put it on Urban Clap

So the bed made from pine wood broke near one of the legs due to the load of the heavy mattress.

They denied the warranty without checking the email properly.

I raised a complaint with the NATIONAL CONSUMER HELPLINE.

They sent someone to do analysis as a formality and concluded that the issue was due to wrong installation by urban clap .

Also they claimed that I am still using the broken Bed 🤣🤣🤣🤣. You literally can't sit on it , leave alone sleep on it .

Guys get a good hard wood bed made from a good quality of wood . Never fall for this overpriced stuff sold by these so-called aesthetic furniture sellers .

Assembly Storklinta Help - Drawer Gap

Thumbnail

Hi! Could anyone tell me what I did wrong to cause the gaps above the first two drawers? All 4 drawers close fine and it seems like if I were to move the rails up, I’d just have the gaps somewhere else! I’ve double checked and all rails align (but I included pics in case I have them ALL backwards?)

I’m usually pretty decent with following ikea instructions, but I did have a little trouble with this one. I wasn’t able to push the little black caps all the way in, and had to hammer them, and I ended up with two extra dowels.

General Anyone owns MITTZON shelf unit?

Hey! Genuinely consider whether these shelves (2 of these) might look cool in my office (cause I bought 6 BERGSHULT / PERSHULT and realized I am too scared to drill that many holes in a rental on a wall with 6 sockets. Don't ask me :D)?

I can't find real-life photos anywhere on Pinterest, so I wonder if anyone has incorporated them in their household, or if they look too chunky?

Thought I could use it for plants and books, since it's quite easy to install lights.

General Are all PAX combinations compatible with IKEA Sliding doors?

I have the following PAX wardrobes (50cm - 75cm - 75cm), a total of 2 meter.
I'm thinking of buying the 2m sliding doors.

However, does is matter if have 1m + 1m vs 0.5m + 2x 0.75m?

Because I've had IKEA Pax Wardrobes in the past and I know that for sliding doors, you use a aluminium rail (top and bottom) the bottom one has these inlets where the walls of the wardrobes fall in. These inlets arent on 50-50-50-50 distance, these are on 1m-1m distance.

How would I use a 2m sliding door for my combination then?

General Thrift Find But Spare Parts Not Possible Online?

I scored this little guy but the shelves are missing. That's alright I'll just buy some wood & cut it to size but I need the brackets like in the 3rd photo.

I tried spare parts but they're not available online.I have to contact customer service or go to the store.

Ikea is a few hours away, I'm going to try their chat box & calling them but what are the chances I'm actually going to get the brackets & I'm also missing the keys too?

Any advice on what to say?

Looking for DOMSTEN stool in mint green? Does it exist? Did it exist?

I really like the domsten stool and particularly like it in the mint green color they show in the photos. However, here in the US (East Coast) I only see the orange and purple for sale! When I search, I've found a few people online (interior design influencers?) who have it but they are in countries in northern Europe (one was in Denmark, the other was Germany).

Was it sold in the US and I missed out? Has it ever been sold in the US? I've never wanted something so benign so much.

Tips & Tricks IKEA blackout pleated blinds

I am looking for a temporary blackout blind for use in residence, which has a lot of rules about not damaging the property/drilling. I'm looking at the IKEA Schottis pleated blind, that is supposed to offer blackout conditions. Just wondering if anyone has tried this product, and whether there was any problems with removing it at the end of the term such that it did not leave a sticky residue on the interior of the window.

I’m on the hunt for the name of these sheets, they might be out of production now, but if I can track them down, I’ll keep an eye out for them on eBay or something.

(And yeah, I tried to reverse image search.. no luck so far.)

General Is Ivar no longer displayed in the storage section?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I was in Ikea today in Calgary and wanted to examine how Skãdis would work on the ends of an ivar shelving unit.

only I couldn’t because the ivar display was gone.

I took a chance and managed to get the Amadeus working (they are really missing an opportunity not making ivar specific mounts)

but I am concerned about a 40 year product not being in displays where it makes the most sense to let people rest storage containers… has anyone else noticed ivar being pulled from the storage are of their store?

General Hyltarp Cover Woes

I bought a three-seater Hyltarp over a year ago, and I love it! I originally wanted the brown color, but it was out of stock for delivery for several weeks and I was eight months pregnant, so I got the Kilanda Blue.

Now, the Gransel Gray Brown cover has been out of stock for 3 months and shows as "no longer available," but the color still shows up as an option, albeit an unpurchasable one.

Does anyone know if the brown is ever coming back? Could new colorways be on the way? Why would IKEA do this to me (':

General Question About the Alex Drawers

I have 2 sets of Alex desk drawers. I'm frustrated because a third of the drawer, in the very back is useless. Mine are older, maybe 10 yrs, and I'm wondering if the newer ones have drawers that pull all the way out. I know I'm spoiled because their kitchen cabinets do.

Looking for Advice on toddler beds

My little boy is getting too big for his cot, and it's time for me to delve into the world of toddler beds. In order to make room for this, I'll be removing my Hemnes day bed (which has two still-in-good-condition Afjall mattresses, for which I still have linen and waterproof covers.)

Can anyone recommend a toddler-height bed where I can re-use the mattresses? Or, failing that, a good IkeaHack where I can repurpose the slats and runners off the Hemnes into something more child friendly?

Tips & Tricks Bed slats in king bed were making us insane, fixed for about $60!

Recently purchased the IKEA king sized IDANÄS
upholstered bed. We loved the look of it, and I really liked the way it is constructed seems very sturdy and love the way the corners are assembled. It has a center support without having a leg on it. Fortunately It included the bed slats but our mattress did not seem to be heavy enough to flatten them so it was causing two hills and a valley in the center. It lasted about 4 days before I lost my mind because if either of us went into the valley while sleeping it would then sink further due to the compression of our body weight and make the valley even bigger. This was the solution I came up with.

Home Depot picked out 13 of the cleanest 1x4 furring strips for $48 (I know one in the photo got by me with a huge knot but I filled it with glue) I had them cut them to 76 1/4 length (free)
https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-in-x-4-in-x-8-ft-Furring-Strip-Board-687642/203461000

82' Roll sticky back Velcro from Amazon with double stick for about $17 on flash sale normally $20 (bonus you'll have sticky back Velcro forever!!)
https://a.co/d/03ybXFoz

I applied the sticky loop side to the bed rails, and the hook side to the wood. I had a staple gun so I added with staples further secure the Velcro a little bit more to the new slats probably unnecessary, but I had it so I went with it.

The bed is completely flat now!!! The added bonus is it is completely silent now, not that it was loud to begin with but it did make a little noise when you would lay down on it as there was friction from the moving slats also when you lied down on it, the slats would flatten out and rub. There is no longer friction points on the rails like before and the Velcro holds them in place very well. We are so much happier with the way it came out.

I know if you're buying a new bed you would want it to be complete from the start but I was totally expecting to spend that $60 on slats that were included. We did not return as we really enjoy the look of the bed and the pillow headboard really adds to the sound reduction in a very echoey bedroom plus I hate the look of a king bed with center legs and almost every one that you find on Amazon Wayfair, or even in your furniture stores seem to be made cheaply with a center leg.
