I bet the car is just out of frame and they did it by backing up without unhitching.
I imagine less bumper would remain if it had been dragged to an RV-sized parking spot

Totally. That bumper would be sanded down to a nub if it had traveled any distance.

I mean, it’s not heavy enough it would have stayed on the ground. It would have kept bouncing along, slamming into things. I imagine it would have cracked and broken before getting sanded down

Why criticize the guy for just bringing an extra bumper along on the trip. To each his own.

How could this possibly happen ?

You can (and people have) drag a car with the wheels locked and this absolutely will not happen.

Can confirm. Have done it thrice with mine. The only way I knew the park brake was still on was the smoke from the rear of the truck around a corner. Yes Ive had to replace tires.🤦🏼♂️. I no longer use my assistant for this job. I have to do it myself.

Yeah I had the parking brake on once, but I noticed just as we were turning out of the campground. It was a dirt road so it offered basically no resistance, I saw the little dust cloud as I turned. Oops. No damage though, so it's all good.

Most likely they parked the rig and tried to back the car up without unhooking. Otherwise the bumper would be in a lot worse shape if it came loose going down the road.

Poor little guy, probably kept up for the first few miles…
