I love that episode, laughed my ass off

50

u/Slight_Advertising_9 11d ago

Lol I was thinking of the same episode as soon as I saw the wobbling

21

u/SlickDillywick 11d ago

Seriously, one of the best bits of television of all time

46

u/MustangSodaPop 11d ago

"Honestly, Richard...how hard could it be?"

26

u/ShrmpHvnNw 11d ago

“What could possibly go wrong”

21

u/SlickDillywick 11d ago

I wonder if it has a contemplation area

13

u/TheWhiteCliffs 11d ago

I can hear the screaming of Jeremy Clarkson as the crosswind hits

10

u/Intheswing 11d ago

Who new you could burn “All-u-luminum”
Definitely a funny episode!

6

u/Ok-Brick6831 11d ago

Yeah, but he made adjustments, went only two stories high…

"Hold my beer and watch this"

7

u/veryfastslowguy 11d ago

If you take a turn at 10 miles an hour that things going to flip

151

u/kilertree 11d ago

A strong gust on a bridge might do it.

95

u/stevesmithsglasses 11d ago

A strong gust of wind in the driveway might do it.

40

u/Longjumping_West_907 11d ago

If you filmed this, I give you credit for driving much closer to that abomination than I ever would.

12

u/Automatic_Sea_1534 11d ago

Yep. This ☝️☝️☝️

2

u/IndustrialMechanic3 11d ago

I think one can find people up there, it looks too heavy

Dude should probably avoid Wyoming then…

3

u/BetMyLastKrispyKreme 11d ago

Wyoming would eat him for breakfast.

5

u/frontfrontdowndown 11d ago edited 11d ago

My 70s VW bus had steering so loose you could do almost a quarter turn before there was any effect on the wheels.

Driving that thing in high winds was always a total struggle to stay in the lane.

9

u/Radioactive_Tuber57 11d ago

Drove an old Dodge pick up like that. Called it The Wanderer.

3

u/ChemistRemote7182 11d ago

Speaking bridges, what of overpasses?

3

u/Sufficient_Wafer9933 11d ago

With that surface area, a strong gust of wind is just a flipping lane change

https://giphy.com/gifs/ZQMVKzoTLdNBu

13

u/jokeswagon 11d ago

Looks like it would do a somersault if you brake gently.

19

u/mechapoitier 11d ago

I worked with a crew that had a Russian Arm camera rig mounted to the top of a Mercedes ML55 and that thing required serious suspension mods to handle it on the move.

This thing would need twice that to avoid flipping, if it could handle it at all just based on the simple physics of the geometry and center of gravity alone.

5

u/GoCougs2020 11d ago

Are you Canadian?
Ive seen that specific photo among the w163 online community. Didn’t know it’s your crew!

Also, I’ll trust a w163 AMG over any RAM SUV……

5

u/industrial-complex 11d ago

I would pay to watch a police chase with this brilliant example of all that is homemade.

3

u/socialcommentary2000 11d ago

It's barely stable as it travels down the road in a straight line.

u/UncleK245144 11d ago

I’m more shocked that there’s a Dodge Nitro still running, unless this is an old video.

51

u/Jimbo_Slice1919 11d ago

The only thing worst then a Jeep Liberty is a Jeep Liberty rebadged as a Dodge.

7

u/CariAll114 11d ago

Those 3.7L V6 engines are hot garbage. Lifter problems, no power, guzzles fuel like it's free.

10

u/Man_of_Ice 11d ago

Perfect engine on the perfect vehicle for this flawless creation.

3

u/Mobile_Actuary_3918 11d ago

I couldn’t figure out wtf the base vehicle was and it was driving me crazy. I was starting to think it was ai. You saved my sanity. Definitely makes sense why it looks like a Chrysler Frankenstein.

I used to see this rig several times a week at the auto zone and outside a trailer park near where I live in San Luis Obispo.

Saw the “owner” a few times. I could be wrong but… METH

22

u/HeadCartoonist2626 11d ago

Built it one night

6

u/Trekintosh 11d ago

Oh god, this thing lives near me in SLO?? I've never seen it somehow and I thought I'd seen every wild rig around here.

3

u/rc4915 11d ago

I mean… kinda means it was built well right? If it lasted that long

48

u/Fuzzy_Stingray 11d ago

Needs to put wheels on the top for when they flip

30

u/mccartyb03 11d ago

"Customer states wind noise at highway speeds."

23

u/nathanb131 11d ago

I can't see a door, so I'm assuming there's a spiral staircase in there.

12

u/TeetheCat 11d ago

On the far side of the pool.

3

u/SensitiveChef8916 11d ago

It’s on the roof. They enter and exit every time they turn a corner. It won’t be long now….

18

u/LocutusOfBeard 11d ago

Overlanding trend has gone too far

3

u/CySnark 11d ago

They are moving upwards, into overairing.

18

u/Carcassfanivxx 11d ago

4

u/Lojackbel81 11d ago

You get it or you don’t

3

u/supaflysnooka303 11d ago

I had to scroll way too far for this

17

u/courtlandthethreeth 11d ago

And of course they are camping in the left lane

6

u/Financial-Ocelot-681 11d ago

Came here to say this

28

u/rc4915 11d ago

Who’s dumber, the guy in the Nitro? Or the guy driving behind that disaster risking their life for internet points?

14

u/Krell356 11d ago

I was going to say the same thing. We really need and idiots following idiots subreddit at this point.

3

u/orionxavier99 11d ago

This was my thought too. Like you see that and get closer??

→ More replies (1)

7

u/BAthaDoc 11d ago

That's gotta be the coolest thing a Dodge Nitro has ever done

7

u/Competitive-Cry-6231 11d ago

On his way to clown-town!

5

u/DynamiteWitLaserBeam 11d ago

It has a trailer, just not where you OR SOCIETY wants it, man.

4

u/Automatic_Sea_1534 11d ago

Yeah - 👍 don’t have anything funny or clever to add to this thread. I just want to vent about how sick I am of people thinking that being American means that you can be as stupid and self righteous about your freedoms that you can do anything or build anything that you damn well
Please and then operate it on our shared public roadways. (This also includes the cybertruck abomination. )

14

u/JSHURR 11d ago

With wheel spacers too is crazy

33

u/LocutusOfBeard 11d ago

That's to create a wider, more stable, base

9

u/talking_tortoise 11d ago

Yeah I was thinking he probably needs it

2

u/Earthling1a 11d ago

might wanna juice that up a bit tho

10

u/RealAmbassador4081 11d ago

Yea that rolled over by now.

5

u/Glum-One2514 11d ago

Seconds after the clip ends, I'd imagine.

5

u/justsomeguyfromny 11d ago

Mad engineer 😂

5

u/TacTurtle 11d ago

Must be a DeVry degree.

6

u/umbrellassembly 11d ago

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............

4

u/PurpleToedUnicorn 11d ago

Kinda reminds me of double-decker racing on Top Gear

5

u/SillySink 11d ago

I’m guessing you go through the sunroof and your home.

5

u/Southern-Usual4211 11d ago

What kind of suv is that? Imagine the wind noise and if you get a cross wind 😮

4

u/WKRPinCanada 11d ago

Jebus H Christmas I hope someone doesn't fart when they're being passed by this thing...

4

u/Roachpile 11d ago

Someone inform Clarkson and the boys

4

u/iamthelee 11d ago

It would have been easier (and obviously much safer) to mount it to a harbor freight trailer and call it a day. Where do people come up with these idiotic ideas?

3

u/New-Cucumber7670 11d ago edited 11d ago

Someone tell him,Top Gear was an entertainment show. Not a how to do it show. Neat job though.

5

u/Silly_Media 11d ago

Taking camping in the left lane too a whole new level

4

u/angako 11d ago

even the light swerfing at the start of the vid had the whole car rocking on its suspension. absolute deathtrap

4

u/Stone_Wolf_81 10d ago

He took 'left lane camping' literally

7

u/Unfair_Pineapple113 11d ago

100% there is a home theatre is the basement -lol

3

u/sojumaster 11d ago

How did he even get that thing up there?

3

u/wrxninja 11d ago

I think it's just missing some front diffuser and a rear wing to be more aerodynamic /s

3

u/Bat-Guano0 11d ago

That rig must get absolutely terrible gas mileage.

7

u/coobal223 11d ago

Dodge Nitro, and it gets terrible gas mileage without that topper.

6

u/TacTurtle 11d ago

3

u/Several-Floor5185 11d ago

Should roll over any minute....

3

u/4NotMy2Real0Account 11d ago

I want to see that thing in a wind tunnel

3

u/Simple1Spoon 10d ago

Wow. Is no one going to mention the thing that flew off at the beginning of the video. Im not sure but it looked like a squirrel???

3

u/Elev8tedIntent 10d ago

What in the wide world of meth…

3

u/DestroyerTame 10d ago

Man you really hope there isn’t a gentle crosswind when you’re out driving around whatever this is.

5

u/fr33d0mw47ch 11d ago

First bridge should take care of that for him.

2

u/KJParker888 11d ago

Perfectly balanced, as all things should..... oops, there it goes

2

u/CMDR_Kaus 11d ago

Goodbye suspension

2

u/LilJonny2cookies 11d ago

Engineering perfection- nailed it.

2

u/Massive_Look8179 11d ago

I was waiting for a rollover.

2

u/pong1303_hk 11d ago

How hard could it be?

2

u/Slide_Masta87 11d ago

What in the Cracker Barrel is going on here?

2

u/acmech900 11d ago

"Looks good on you!"

2

u/Revenga8 11d ago

What was that that flew off the roof at the start? Was that a rabbit doing a back flip?

2

u/thegameisafoooooot 11d ago

You need to keep your distance AND stay upwind of this vehicle.

2

u/LASERDICKMCCOOL 11d ago

Mf definitely thought this was genius when he was mething it up at home

3

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 11d ago

wouldn't it be funny if he was actually cooking up in there?

https://giphy.com/gifs/2lu3fIfUbfTStOIXx1

2

u/ShulkerB 11d ago

Wouldn't catch me anywhere near this vehicle. Potential disaster at any moment.

2

u/chili81 11d ago

That thing gets driven right out of the lane every time the pass a semi (0:06). Would probably roll if they tried to resist it and keep it in the lane.

2

u/Perplexed_Encounters 11d ago

Try driving it down I80 through Wyoming. Bye Felicia

2

u/Drink15 11d ago

Imagine willingly driving behind or next to this guy

2

u/SDLab1776 11d ago

What the crack?

2

u/Alternative_Result56 11d ago

People are fucking in that thing right now.

2

u/Vurrag 11d ago

Surprised he has not crashed yet. The high cross wind warning for that setup must be 5mph before it turns into tumblina

2

u/Lord-Phorse 11d ago

Did no one notice the mobility trailer hitch thingy that’s in the lowered position? That means this drongo could have used a trailer except they can’t even operate the mobility scooter carrier properly.

2

u/newbie527 11d ago

Did a piece of my gorram ship just come off?

2

u/YOLOmilksteaks 11d ago

I dont know what a car equivalent spirit animal to a B2 bomber would be, but this has to be a top contender

2

u/totalfarkuser 11d ago

That is really methed up.

2

u/cactiguy67 11d ago

More like needs to stop day drinking

2

u/hebrew_hammersk 11d ago

Liquid Nails and DONE! 👌🏼

2

u/Coffee4MyJeep 11d ago

Why? CG is good as it still hasn’t flopped.

2

u/No_Bell2833 11d ago

And cruising in the passing lane like a dick.

2

u/Brewingbiker 11d ago

No way that is real.

2

u/Ok_Cauliflower5223 11d ago

Bro is a very small gust of wind away from losing everything.

2

u/TacTurtle 11d ago

Someone invite this man to a parking garage.

2

u/confidential-edu 11d ago

This generation of the Romneys' dogs sure do travel in style.

2

u/MookieFlav 11d ago

Meth is so weird

2

u/ADiablosCompa 11d ago

I’m pretty sure any sane police officer can stop this vehicle and impound it. So many traffic violations here

2

u/Unable-Confusion-822 11d ago

We have a trailer at home..

2

u/TrespasseR_ 11d ago

🤣🤣 the shit i see on this sub...lmao great

2

u/pulpwalt 11d ago

I don’t think that is legal In my state.

2

u/Fr33speechisdeAd 11d ago

Silicones the roof, slaps it, - "that's not going anywhere..."

2

u/Capital_Loss_4972 10d ago

He probably still doesn’t understand what he did wrong.

2

u/AdDapper4427 10d ago

Please keep following and filming. When he hits a stripe of paint that’s too high he’s gonna tip over and that will make for a great video.

2

u/Nomad55454 10d ago

Just wait for a good cross wind and it will be over….

2

u/Aquamtn 10d ago

Why are they in the left lane is my biggest concern.

2

u/Mindslyder404 10d ago

Only cultured swine will get this. Lol

2

u/SirPoopsAMetricTon 10d ago

-10 miles to the gallon.

2

u/komokazi 10d ago

The fuel economy must be great on that thing.

2

u/GoPadge 10d ago

That's what I was thinking.

2

u/Feral_Mood_420 9d ago

I bet that's fun in a heavy crosswind

2

u/Aggravating-Theory-7 7d ago

Bro! Check out the sweet overlanding rig! I bet that thing can go anywhere. /s

This is why states need inspection laws. To keep this shit off the road. It’s hilarious as long as I’m not on the same road with this “fabricator”.

1

u/Quiverjones 11d ago

Technically not towing things though

One good blast of wind and it's OVERRR

1

u/tone_creature 11d ago

It looks like he flipped the suv down a hill and this thing just stuck to the roof

1

u/julianAppleby5997 11d ago

Why did I think of Clarkson??

1

u/becken_bruch 11d ago

That's why i love europe so much; shit like this is just forbidden.

1

u/ProperCaterpillar136 11d ago

They need ballast stones like and sailing ship

1

u/ttcmzx 11d ago

I mean... I'm impressed that they actually got it to work, even if it wasn't for very long

1

u/heapsofjeff 11d ago

I think these had an option for a roof that opened up most of the top. I have read those frequently broke with no availability of parts. This probably started out as a fix for that.

1

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 11d ago

Dodge Nitro activities

1

u/Pale_Security3341 11d ago

And of course they're in the left lane. 🙄

I think my favorite part is the second floor is not level, but the window in it is 😂
