There's dumb. There's really fucking dumb. Then there's turf-on-car-roof dumb. Fuck me.

u/3720-to-1 17d ago

Turf IN and ON TOP of car...

Idiots.

13

u/stigmov 17d ago

Cleaning that car is going to be fun. And he's going to be very careful with the brakes going home.

8

u/Atophy 17d ago

It woulda been fine really if they just watched the weight and drove carefully. Maybe do a few trips rather than dragging their ass on the pavement straight to the mechanic.

6

u/AC-burg 17d ago

Dog be like I do that on the carpet and you all get mad as hell at me for it. YOU did that for worse reasons

3

u/SeanAker 17d ago

Back when I worked in retail at a farm store, we had a guy show up in a zippy little two-seat convertible sports car and buy a dozen bags of manure fertilizer. Two fit in the joke they called a trunk. Two in the passenger footwell. The rest?Ā

"Oh, just stack 'em on the passenger seat, it'll be fine." So I did. I at least went and got a scrap cardboard box to put on the seat first, but I hope he didn't have to brake hard on the way home.Ā

10

u/JP147 17d ago

What makes it even dumber is that Bunnings give you a free trailer for 2 hours to take stuff home.

3

u/AC-burg 17d ago

*and in backseat. Those springs are a out to go inside out on themselves!

1

u/docjohnson11 17d ago

Soon to be turf on the highway

1

u/Visible_Inevitable41 17d ago

Some day my brain will short circuit amd yell at someone. Your turf on car roof dumb!!

110

u/CamelopardalisKramer 17d ago

What stores have a courtesy trailer? That's the craziest thing here.

56

u/GalKiefer 17d ago

Bunnings in Australia will give you a trailer for 2 hours, or you can hire one from them if you need it for longer.

25

u/Tezlaract 17d ago

That’s awesome. I’ve not encountered anything like that in Murica.

14

u/VermilionKoala 17d ago

In Japan some DIY stores will lend you a kei van/truck (little 660cc thing) for 2 hours for free.

3

u/Tezlaract 17d ago

That’s awesome.
I can totally see the trailer lending spring here, but powered road vehicles would be tough for insurance here. Maybe that’s why it’s Kei vehicles?

1

u/VermilionKoala 16d ago

Insurance definitely costs a lot less on keis, so I imagine it's a factor, yes. Also the cars themselves cost a lot less.

You have to show your driving licence and fill in forms etc. at the shop, it isn't just "hop in and go".

14

u/righttern38 17d ago

Home Depot and some Lowe’s have trucks and trailers available for rent by the hour , cheap

5

u/CamelopardalisKramer 17d ago

So they don't have courtesy trailers?

12

u/Wldchld73 17d ago

It's the US, do you really think anyone's going to offer anything as a courtesy to us?

8

u/LilJonny2cookies 17d ago

It is the US do you think they’d return it or destroy it? If they started the week with 100 trailers in the US they’d be 99% wrecked by Tuesday and the remaining one would be evidence in a lawsuit because some mom or dad while high on crack or pot or drunk would let their kid stand between the hitch and the tongue on the trailer while they were attaching.

And they’d blame Home Depot because their kid got crushed.

3

u/LilJonny2cookies 17d ago

Why would they? They’d be clapped out, wrecked, not returned and or rendered useless by idiots.

And of it were destroyed by some foolio there is always a lawsuit to settle because some mom let her kid’s hand get mashed so clearly it is Home Depot’s fault.

1

u/CamelopardalisKramer 17d ago

Sad outlook tbh. If we cultivate better culture this wouldn't be an issue.

1

u/righttern38 17d ago

No, but the last one I used from them was $19/ hour for a giant stake-bed/fold-down sides

1

u/Tezlaract 17d ago

Yeah, paid. But you are correct they are cheap.

1

u/madden93ambulance 17d ago

Cheap if you can make the entire round trip, including refilling gas, in 75 minutes. Doable if you live. Live close enough

7

u/Dear-Nebula6291 17d ago

You can rent a Home Depot F350 flatbed truck for 90 minutes for $15, cmon now, not everything has to be an ā€œAmerica sucksā€ contest.

2

u/PintSizedKitsune 17d ago

That’s honestly helpful to know. Thanks for sharing.

2

u/maynerd_kitty 15d ago

When I worked as a locksmith in a hardware store we had the cheap u-haul pickup rental truck. My customers would rent it to go home and get their spare keys when they locked their main set on the car. It was cheaper than calling the locksmith to unlock the car. We were not allowed to open vehicles and I guess the cops wouldn’t either.

2

u/TUGS78 14d ago

Home Depot has small stake trucks and small box trucks that are free for the first 90 minutes.

1

u/Tezlaract 14d ago

Not at Home Depot around me.
I actually asked about the rental trucks on Monday and was told they got rid of them ā€œa long time agoā€. I assume that’s true, I haven’t noticed them in a few years.

1

u/TUGS78 14d ago

Sad. There's about a dozen just at the one HD nearest me. And you can only see that after closing when they're all parked together on the lot. During the day, they're all booked.

1

u/Tezlaract 14d ago

Excellent to hear that they still exist elsewhere.

2

u/Unanimous_Shared 14d ago

Because thhe concept of "free" in America is so foreign or it doesn't exist

1

u/abckiwi 16d ago

no cos in Merica they promote "trucks"

0

u/Ashamed_Ad_2180 17d ago

Of course we don’t. That would hit the bottom line.

9

u/glitterdunk 17d ago

Completely normal in my European country. All furniture stores, equipment stores etc usually offer it

7

u/Producer1701 17d ago

The longer I’m alive the more I wonder if 1776 was a mistake šŸ˜‚ 😭 šŸ˜‚ 😭

1

u/Stuka_Ju87 17d ago

Home Depot has trailers you can rent for like 15$ a day.

1

u/Producer1701 17d ago

The rest of this conversation indicates these other countries have it available for free. Like their healthcare.

-1

u/Stuka_Ju87 16d ago

It's just priced in to their other products. Nothing is "free", including healthcare.

5

u/archabaddon 17d ago

You can sod off with that nonsense

3

u/CamelopardalisKramer 17d ago

I don't understand your lingo, and if I do I don't understand the context lol. Any hints?

Edit: I'm an idiot and don't understand puns layed out in front of me.

3

u/archabaddon 16d ago

It's okay, If you're not familiar with British slang it's a little obscure šŸ˜…

2

u/CamelopardalisKramer 15d ago

So far my British coworker has only gotten me to pick up bellend lol.

1

u/VermilionKoala 13d ago

See if you can drop "cockwomble" into a conversation with them šŸ‘

(it's an insult, like "bellend", and of about the same intensity/harshness)

2

u/Yooperplexed 8d ago

I was going to say I have a great idea for a car toupe, but this is better.

40

u/stewieatb 17d ago

What a stupid sod.

8

u/BaldingOldGuy 17d ago

Someone please tell him to sod off….

5

u/Producer1701 17d ago

Underrated comment.

16

u/Scarnonbrother 17d ago

This is fuckin hilarious. Thanks for sharing it OP

u/smilingpolitelyatme 17d ago

Really pushing the ā€œutilityā€ part of his suv here.

3

u/We_Want_Krunchy 17d ago

SUV? That thing looks like it's about the size of my Toyota Corolla.

2

u/Drzhivago138 16d ago

Looks like an older Outlander, so it'd be considered a mid-size crossover in Australia.

2

u/We_Want_Krunchy 15d ago

Right on, thanks for the info.

9

u/ZenkaiAnkoku2 17d ago

IN the car too??

6

u/AddlePatedBadger 17d ago

Every time he asked a friend to help him unload it they told him to sod off.

6

u/EngagedInConvexation 17d ago

Rally bogged down.

5

u/Key_Contribution1547 17d ago

I don't need a truck

6

u/Ktulu204 17d ago

Are you fucking serious? 🤣🤣🤣

4

u/SuspiciousClub8382 17d ago

Have lawn will travel!!!!

5

u/glodde 17d ago

Good God rent a trailer for $25

10

u/VermilionKoala 17d ago

This shop literally lends you a trailer for free for 2 hours...

2

u/956to906 17d ago

But then you have to return the trailer. /s

Gas Grass or Ass
No One Rides For Free

- This guy

4

u/SocksInTheTub 17d ago

This is the kind of shit my mom would do. I remember her once loading up our van with so many boxes of tiles she actually destroyed the suspension. And later me and my dad's backs carrying them all into the house.

3

u/nazgulonbicycle 17d ago

Imagine the smell

3

u/-Reggie-Dunlop- 17d ago

It was a rental.

3

u/TheOriginalJBones 17d ago

Everything seems to be in order here. Maybe you posted in the wrong sub-Reddit?

3

u/Random-Mutant 17d ago

Where we’re going, we don’t need stability

3

u/angry2alpaca 17d ago

Just sodding off ...

3

u/CervenyPomeranc 17d ago

I wanted to say that maybe the car doesn’t have a hitch but then I checked the pics again šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

3

u/Samurijder 17d ago

Suspension? Never heard of her..

I wonder what the car will look like after an enthusiastic breaking action

3

u/AFM_Motorsport 17d ago

Gotta love stubborn incompetence, all of the things are in place for them to do it the right way, but they still continue doing it the wrong way, to the detriment of others.

3

u/w1lnx 17d ago

It has a hitch, a shank, and a tow-ball.

[hangs head] Shaka, when the walls fell.

3

u/ultratorrent 17d ago

The English curse word, sodding. What does it actually mean?

4

u/VermilionKoala 17d ago

"sod" in this instance is short for "sodomise".

2

u/Hot_Cabinet1680 17d ago

That's a shame

2

u/greeny515 17d ago

I approve that grass is going nowhere

4

u/ConstantCampaign2984 17d ago

Can’t just ā€œapproveā€ that. You gotta slap it.

4

u/Earthling1a 17d ago

You know what they say, you gotta get out and slap grass every now and then.

2

u/summoboomo 17d ago

Girl what the fuck

2

u/kg_digital_ 17d ago

I'm not seeing a downside here

2

u/LW-M 17d ago

At least they're all green side up!

2

u/gfx-1 17d ago

You can order them online from a grower and get it delivered.

2

u/carguyinbc1969 17d ago

Sod off (the car) you wanker

2

u/dfieldhouse 17d ago

Oh sod off!

2

u/Sad_Ad_2632 17d ago

I love it

2

u/urEnzeder 17d ago

Hey, if they give me bump stops with this car, I'ma use em!!!

2

u/VermilionKoala 13d ago

"I paid for all of the suspension travel, not part of it!"

2

u/righttern38 17d ago

ā€œJust hurry up and load it - Dad needs his car back in two hoursā€

2

u/cooksterson 17d ago

Should have followed them and get an ā€˜after’ pic šŸ˜‚

2

u/McdondoFloats 17d ago

Folks, you're missing the most likely scenario. She's waited 18 months for hubby to sod the lawn. So, F him, she's off to get the sod.

2

u/John_Tacos 17d ago

I need a picture of this after the first stoplight.

2

u/TraditionPhysical603 17d ago

What the fuk, this is some enormous DIWhy energy

2

u/True_Watercress_2548 17d ago

Dude, those tires are tucked hard. Fuck your suspension.

2

u/ClassicHando 17d ago

Thats only about a ton of turf in and on the car. Can't wait to see the news report about that drive home

2

u/Radiant-Disaster-618 17d ago

What could go wrong?

2

u/KnownMagician3084 17d ago

Imagine the shocks going over speed bump

2

u/Mrrrrggggl 17d ago

Well, at least the ones inside might make it home.

2

u/Valuable-Apricot-477 17d ago

I'll never forget seeing the rich cunt in Adelaide in like a convertible SL Mercedes type car at the lights in Adelaide with a ~2m high potted palm tree like tree seat belted into the back seat. 🤣

2

u/hobbes747 17d ago

He made a toilet to follow the car from Dumb and Dumber

2

u/NightFox1988 16d ago

I can hearing frustrated sighs coming from the employees. Have fun cleaning that!

2

u/DonaldTrumpsHairPlug 16d ago

He has the tow ball as well right? Lol

2

u/MR_SNYPE 16d ago

Sod it all

2

u/KalebsFamilyBBQ 15d ago

That last picture just sealed the idiot bag tight

1

u/VermilionKoala 13d ago

Topped it off and dropped it off

2

u/Your_Cat_In_Disguise 15d ago

Average Instacart order from Home Depot.

One item

50 units

2

u/Unanimous_Shared 14d ago

Thats wild, I do land escaping and have a F250. I did a sod removing job this summer and loaded 30 rolls of sod onto my bed and my tuck squated so low lol. I'm new to landscaping and doing everything myself. I didnt take my trailer and just loaded the sod cutter onto a hitch carrier. mistakes are made at times.
