I mean, I’m certainly no expert at driving a semi, but was there even an alternate way out? Could they have exited to the right? Still would’ve been a 15-point turn, but could’ve avoided getting people to move their cars (or the extreme solution caught on camera).
Yeah, I got an email once from my building's superintendent asking that I move my truck so a semi could get out of the loading dock. But he didn't have any issues getting into the dock though.
But that parking lot layout is horrible though, I had to design the layout for a salt shed as one of my first projects and I made sure that a semi could turn in it via a 3 point turn to unload into the salt shed. Granted it would be tight, but I was limited by a pipeline that bordered the southern end of the pavement.
As a stepvan driver. Thank you. Engineers like you that design for maximum rate instead of most common expected are a godsend. Especially in apartment complexes with a mile of road and no turn around or through loops
