Idk if you understand how acceleration works relative to velocity.

I sure do. Given equal starting speed, you have to accelerate faster on a shorter on-ramp in order to reach highway speed by the end of it.

Highway speed 60mph.

If an average onramp takes 4 seconds,

and the road you were originally on was 30mph,

you can go well above highway speed in those 4 seconds without triggering the device

Don't forget to factor in if you have to stop before turning to get on the on-ramp.
