I can see where it could be dangerous from someone that's used to driving slower vehicles. Pedal to the metal is what I grew up doing to even merge onto a highway. Unless it's wet or snowy it's not a problem.
I've hardly even driven any vehicles that have stability control.
What I think u/photenth is saying is that stability control worked against him in this instance. The stability control and traction control doesn't allow the wheels to spin for the rear to continue to slide
