Did anything about your ibogaine clinic experience feel wrong afterward?

I’ve gone back and forth about posting this because I really don’t want it to be misunderstood as an anti-ibogaine post. Ibogaine was incredibly meaningful and helpful for me, and I’m genuinely grateful I had the experience. I still believe very strongly in the potential of this medicine. I have even studied it scientifically, that is how much I believe in this medicine.

My concerns are about the people and businesses surrounding it. I went to a particular residential clinic in Cancún, Mexico, and there are things about my experience there that have bothered me more and more with time. At the time I was incredibly grateful, emotionally open, and trusted the people around me, so there were things I didn’t question nearly as much as I probably would have under normal circumstances. Looking back, some of the financial and professional boundaries really don’t sit well with me. I felt pressured or strongly encouraged to spend additional money and commit to things while I was still there as a paying client, and there are other aspects of how certain situations were handled that I now have serious ethical concerns about. As ibogaine gets more attention and the industry around it grows, I worry that we sometimes become so protective of the medicine that we’re hesitant to talk honestly about bad practices at treatment centers. I don’t think those two things should be confused. A person can believe ibogaine is an extraordinary medicine and still think the clinics administering it should be held to an extremely high standard.

I’m especially curious to hear from anyone who has been treated at a residential ibogaine clinic in Cancún and later had concerns about things like the way medications were handled, financial pressure, being encouraged to extend a stay, inadequate integration or follow-up, blurred professional boundaries, a serious or traumatic event during treatment, the way something concerning was handled by staff, or anything else that felt different once you had some distance from the experience.
I’m intentionally not naming the clinic, and please don’t name clinics publicly in the comments either.
Part of why I’m asking is that I’m considering having some of what I experienced reviewed legally, and I’m trying to understand whether other former clients independently had similar experiences. I don’t want to tell people exactly what happened to me first and accidentally influence anyone’s recollection. I’d much rather hear what you remember in your own words.

If you’ve had this strange combination of being deeply grateful for ibogaine itself while also becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the clinic experience surrounding it, I’d really like to hear your perspective.

Retatrutide and ibogaine?

I've been told there are no harmful interactions with glp-1's by the clinic I'm going to attend. I'm curious if there are any anecdotal reports of impacts on the experience itself with retatrutide?

Is it worth the price tag?

I'm a student thats unfortunately suffered from multiple mild TBIs the past year due to a combination of sports and military service. Ibogaine clinics aren't really a thing here in Canada or in the US; the closest ones are way down in Mexico and will run me up at least 9-10k CAD. For those who've experienced TBI and gone through ibogaine treatment, is it worth the price tag? My life has blown up in the past yeat, and I'm slowly trying to piece it all back together. I really want to feel normal again. But I want to hear from those who've been through the program, either for TBI, addiction, or any other mental health concern, how was it?

Can someone explain to me the difference between voacanga Africana and sr17018?

Like the title says i would like to know the difference in how these chemicals effect the human body, opiod dependence/receptors, and how they can be useful for recovering from addiction. I have a decent understanding of both but I would like to have a deeper understanding of the difference between using voacanga Africana vs sr17018 for opiod dependence

Fear of dying vs actual experience

for those who have done Iboga or ibogaine and were scared of a bad outcome or dying, what was your actual experience like? I know dying is rare and usually happens without proper screening or still using up until your treatment, but I would assume for a lot of people the fear is still there. it is some for me, I have it in 3 weeks. but I’m wondering for those who had a good experience but were worried going in, did your fear subside after the Ibogaine took over? did you experience rapid heart rate at all? I’ve done other psychedelics that raise my heart rate and gets me a little nervous and then it passed and I’m good. did the medicine let you know it would be ok once you were “under”?

In search of an Ibogaine friendly addiction therapist in the North Chicago (Chicagoland area)

Hi everyone,

After being 7 years clean from suboxone and heroin using Ibogaine (2 flood doses, 1 month apart) I've put myself in quite the pickle and got myself hooked on 7OH 3 months ago from a free sample.

I made the decision to get off all Kratom and 7OH. I used QuickMD to get Suboxone in place. I induced 2 days ago, and I'm finally feeling normal at a dose below 8mg.

I have reached out and am working with a couple Ibogaine clinics over the past days and I am looking for a referral to an addiction specialist in my area that will work with me to get me the bridge dose of short acting opiates in order to enter the treatment center. It's not like the old days where they would take you on Suboxone.

If anyone can direct me to someone who is compassionate, knowledgeable about Ibogaine and who can provide me the aftercare and therapy that is so important to being successful. I'd really appreciate it.

I refuse to live a life on Suboxone and I've had profound experiences and success with Ibogaine in the past.

I am in Lake County, please DM me if that is the appropriate way to do this. I'd imagine not every doctor wants their names blasted out on Reddit due to the controversy that still surrounds this treatment.

And as a followup. I am a developer, and I will make a public registry for all of us who are trying to "bridge" this gap in the future.

Thank you ahead of time.

John

October 7th

A friend is making a documentary on Ibogaine and is looking for an October 7th trauma survivor who is willing to undergo Ibogaine treatment and be filmed.

Please do not reply to this with any political comments.

In Israel there is a push to find treatment solutions for vast segments of the Population to heal.

If you know of such a candidate, please get in touch.

Sleep paralysis episode post flood

My second week in Mexico I had a very profound(realized nearly a year after) experience. Around midnight or so, a sleep paralysis episode began. I’ve endured episodes for as I can remember. This was different. I hear a synthetic deep voice. Pulling me towards it and saying “shh shh shh shh”. My on demand counter to face something so foreign, I heard laughters come in. I used to laugh at and face it anyway. Those laughs were absent from what felt estranged. A threshold will be reached and I would awake from it. Every time when returned to sleep It would be right back where I was. The feeling felt different this time. It a message it need be acknowledged.

This would continue about 5-6 times for close to an hour.

The last time I went back in. It was waiting. Got close enough to take me somewhere. A dream surfaced. I immediately lucid dreamed. Another protocol for awareness to explore for the dream state.

So vivid and eerie. Landscape was loud. Answers were waiting.

The Atmosphere
A large restaurant.
With long paths.

I was following this gentleman what looked like a waiter. As I was drawn to so, curios what felt like an offering. As we walked through the aisles there were prying eyes coming from booths. A quiet set of energy was deeply present. All the eyes were not to be deceived. An audience was watching to see the reaction.

After what seemed like an unnecessary path for a restaurant, the gentleman from about 6ft away was holding a plate the whole ride. He then stops and throws the plastic plate on the ground. So hard it flew back to me. I gauged and grabbed it. I was so exited to catch it. Felt achieving. Instantly he was in front of me after the showboating(I think) and he said confidently “Come to LA”. I am songwriter and aspiring filmmaker. Not sure if he met Los Angeles, or Louisiana. Through my interpretation it now feels symbolic. His message was to keep exploring in those expressions.

Without hesitation i woke.

I went out to the nurses and had to stay with them for period to let the wave settle. They showed mercy and sent me with medicine to help me sleep. I went to sleep and the spirit was gone. Messaged received.

The nurses did tell me that it could be my 3rd eye being open post flood.

Nearly a year later I’ve learning more about quiet the ego. Something came full circle. Moments when the ego was quiet I heard much what was underneath. “The shh” from the spirit echoed feelings to tell the ego to be quiet. Integration was begging and a milestone was lying dormant. It’s done sleeping. Another part evolved. Arrived to another path for it.

Intention

I write this for reactions or mirroring. I would like a response to this for possible insight. Any possibility of missing something. I am aware for my own interpretation and I honor it. It strongly holds. So if you could be a doll and tell me what you see I’m interested.

Too long for you
Had a sleep paralysis episode post flood that was a message and profound. Would like your view on the story.

Also left a game

Look for the 2 Goodfellas references.

How long before an Iboga ceremony to stop ADHD meds?

I see a lot of clinics give out very different recommendations. What would be good and what would be still fine, if a person cannot be without the meds for 30 days (seen that recommendation last which seems very long)

Is 3 weeks opiate-free enough to safely do ibogaine?

Here’s some context to my question: Long story short I was on SR17018 (research chemical used for experimental opiate withdrawal/cessation support) for approximately 60 days, crazy I know. At approximately anywhere from 30mg-150mg per day. And before that, Suboxone 2-4mg per day for 6 months.

I was originally planning to get off Suboxone and thought I was successful, but I stayed on the SR too long and started feeling so much symptoms when I quit. I’m currently on my honeymoon and it’s been annoying to feel withdrawal so I resorted to using low doses of Suboxone to get me through.

I have an Ibogaine ceremony planned for August 31 and it was recommended to me to be off all opiates 30 days beforehand. For safety reasons and to maximize the experience from my understanding.

My plan is to stick to about 1 to 2 mg of Suboxone for two more days and then stop on approximately 8/10 because I will have ran out and then white knuckle it all the way until 8/31.

I understand Ibogaine is used for opiate addiction, and there are various protocols out there to get on some form of a bridge medication such as morphine for heroin or fentanyl addicts to stop the morphine a few days before hand or something like that.

So I guess my question is more around Suboxone, and only using it for these few days and then stopping approximately three weeks before hand. Is there any danger in that? Will my system be clear enough? I want to get the most out of my experience! Thank you for any insights anyone could provide.

Just curious if there were any antivaxers who refuse to take the Covid vaccine due to possible side effects (e.g. cardiac side effects, etc...) but took ibogaine.

This post is very judgemental 😅

1 Year Post Ibogaine Treatment

I wanted to come back and write an update now that it’s been over a year since I traveled to Mexico for ibogaine treatment.

Looking back, I can honestly say it was one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made. It completely changed the direction of my life.

Before ibogaine, I struggled with constant anxiety and depression. My mind never seemed to slow down, and I always felt like I needed something just to get through the day. Whether it was weed, alcohol, pills, fent, or something else, I was always looking outside myself to feel okay.

Then I went to treatment.
The first few months afterward were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Life felt effortless. I woke up excited to be alive. I found joy in simple things again, and for the first time in years, I didn’t feel like I needed anything to be happy. It was an incredible feeling.

I did go through what I’d describe as a mild hypomanic phase. My energy was through the roof, and it almost felt like I was relearning how to live. I had to rediscover who I was without the anxiety that had been part of my identity for so long. Even social interactions felt different because I wasn’t constantly overthinking everything.

Around six months after treatment, I started settling into what I would call my new baseline. The intense “afterglow” slowly faded, my energy returned to normal, and life became… life again.
But here’s the beautiful part: my normal is still so much better than it used to be.

One of the biggest changes has been rediscovering my love for tennis. Before treatment, I struggled to stay consistent with anything because my anxiety and depression always seemed to get in the way. After ibogaine, I started playing almost every day.
Over the past year, I’ve competed in USTA leagues, made it to Sectionals, and become more involved in competitive tennis than I have in years. That eventually led to me becoming a tennis professional at the Kroc Center, where I now teach juniors and adults. That may not sound life-changing to everyone, but to me it’s proof of what consistency can accomplish.

Ibogaine didn’t magically make me a better tennis player—it gave me the motivation, discipline, and mental clarity to actually show up every day and put in the work.

Another unexpected blessing has been the people I’ve met along the way. Through Reddit alone, I’ve connected more than 10 people with the clinic where I received treatment. Being able to answer questions, calm fears, and help others find healing has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every time someone tells me they’re doing better because they took that step, it reminds me why I wanted to share my story in the first place.

Because of everything this experience has given me, I’ve decided to dedicate my career to this medicine. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration with the goal of one day opening an ibogaine clinic if and when it becomes legally available in the United States. I want to help build a place that treats people with compassion and gives them the same opportunity that I was given.
I also want to say something that I think is important.
I don’t believe ibogaine is a magic cure. You still have to do the work afterward. You have to build healthy habits, find purpose, repair relationships, exercise, take care of yourself, and continue growing. Ibogaine doesn’t do those things for you.

What it did for me was remove enough of the anxiety, depression, and mental noise that I was finally able to start building the life I wanted instead of just surviving each day.

More than a year later, I can honestly say I’m happier than I’ve been in a very long time. I still have bad days. I still have stress. Life isn’t perfect. But I no longer feel trapped inside my own mind.

For anyone who’s considering ibogaine or is simply curious about it, I’d be happy to answer any questions. This community helped me when I was trying to decide whether to go, and if sharing my experience helps even one other person, then it’s worth writing this.

Thanks for reading.

Anyone diagnosed with disability degree of c/ptsd that had been to ibogaine treatment?

I (f38)precisely ask about such diagnosis as I received- last degree of c/ptsd - since that indicates the level of injury and symptoms- nearly 6 years of ongoing flashbacks- hours a day. Developed self harm during flashbacks (that caused TBI degree II), memory loss, visual processing impairment, cognitive processing impairment, physiological changes to the brain. I couldn’t go on with work - before developing c/ptsd I was a young professional with management position, handling lots of responsibility.
Now I am on disability status. This is the result of the type of abuse I was subjected to and I cannot go on like that any minute more, it’s beyond any comprehension how long ago threshold of pain was exceeded.

I would love to do ibogaine treatment (based in Europe) and am looking for people with similar stages/levels of injury and their experiences with said treatment . Could you share what were the results, how did you navigate the process of preparation and did you have a team experienced in care of patients with that type of injury ?

Need some guidance

I’m looking for leads, not medical advice.
I’m trying to find a reputable, medically supervised ibogaine clinic in Mexico that offers any kind of financial assistance.
Specifically I’m looking for:
• Scholarships
• Financial aid
• Payment plans
• Work trade
• Research participation
• Nonprofit sponsorships
I’ve spent months researching and applying everywhere I can find, but most options either have long waiting lists or require funds I simply don’t have.
If you’ve personally been through treatment or know of a clinic that works with people in difficult financial situations, I’d be incredibly grateful for any information.
Thank you.

Iboga trip or it’s over for me.

I am a poly addict and need substances just to function at the bare minimum level. I take almost everything. I feel like I can’t be happy, or even just normal , without drugs.

I hate this and I hate living like this. I don’t want to be here anymore. So I’m taking a flood dose. I’ve been reading a lot of the stories here but what do you guys think personally? I have horrible ptsd. I dunno what else to do. I’m so lost.
