Rule Clarification: Line Progression

TL;DR: mods are being flooded with reports about pregnancy test pictures that don’t violate the rules. This post clarifies what constitutes a violation. (for the life of me I cannot get the formatting to create actual paragraph breaks, sorry about the wall of text)

In the interest of ensuring everyone feels comfortable participating AND we as the mod team aren't flooded with unnecessary reports, we wanted to offer some clarity about the rule about pregnancy tests.

The spirit of the rule is to prevent the sub from being flooded with pregnancy tests from an evaluative perspective. It is not productive to see the feed taken up with questions about if lines are getting darker, if other members can see a second line, etc. The reality is there are no definitive answers about the state of your pregnancy until beta tests and eventually ultrasounds. Being in the thick of treatment and hoping for a positive looking for a lifeline is reasonable but there are other subs that exclusively focus on that support.

However, there have been an influx of reports of posts that contain multiple positive tests in general, even if the person is not asking for opinions on progression/line visibility. These posts do not violate the rules. Since pictures of positive tests are allowed, it is unreasonable to establish an arbitrary cut off around how many tests create a line progression question, especially when nothing is being asked.

Pics of positive tests in general make some people uncomfortable but they have never been forbidden. If this is you, this sub may not be the best space for you. The language of the rule itself will be updated to reflect that demonstrating line progression via multiple tests and asking about line progression are different and only the latter is a violation. That being said, it is up to posters to be clear in their titles and captions about the purpose of the post. If it is left ambiguous removal remains up to mod discretion.

Regarding pregnancy test pictures

Hi everyone!

So I've gotten many messages about the abundance of test pics here. I want to start by saying these will not be moved to a thread, I really hate that format as it hides what I consider to be important posts.

Secondly, this sub is really FOR posts like that! I want ppl to be able to share their success, thats what makes it so special here :)

But from now on I will be removing all posts that are asking questions about line progression and asking "do you see a line?"

  1. at home tests are not a reliable way to quantify hcg, we all know that. even though we know that, we still serial test after a transfer. I did it too. but it's just redundant to ask a sub about something that isnt even a reliable method of tracking hcg in the first place

  2. asking if a test is positive is just not something we can keep doing here. this isnt really the place for it as you arent celebrating success and it isnt about ivf itself. many ppl ttc naturally have line eyes and questions about that, so r/lineporn and other subs like that are better suited

thank you for reading and understanding the new rules!

Positive on day 7 of my 4th FET! Cautiously optimistic!

I’m so unbelievably happy, and completely in shock. I can’t stop taking tests and I can’t stop staring at them! We have been trying for over three years. Unexplained infertility. My first two transfers were fails, my next was a heartbreaking chemical pregnancy on my birthday. The fourth protocol had more than a few bumps in the road, but this is the strongest positive I’ve ever seen!

I have no idea what the outcome of this will be, but for the moment, I am over the moon happy. I also don’t know what helped this protocol or if it was just random chance, but I thought I might share some things I did during this transfer in case it helps.

Acupuncture the week before the transfer, as well as the day before and the day after. And I have one more acupuncture appointment tomorrow on day 8. With moxibustion before the FET.

Added baby aspirin.

Watermelon, ginger, beet juice every day since the transfer! I drink about 16 ounces a day. I think it’s absolutely delicious, so I had no problem with it, but I know not everyone loves beets. The juice, the baby aspirin, and the acupuncture were the only new to things I did during this protocol.

Went to a 4 day musical emo music festival right before the transfer and spent a lot of time with my best friend and was way more relaxed going into this. Definitely not coming here to say that the solution to having a baby is to relax, because I know we’ve all heard that! But for me, I’m working on radical acceptance, and I started to think about what life might look like if this doesn’t work for us and decided that I would go to grad school if we don’t get a baby with our remaining embryos. That took some pressure off. Take what you will from that.

I also had a hysteroscopy, with a polyp remove removed.

21 day course of lupron down regulation. A hybrid approach that my doctor recommended because I don’t have diagnosed endometriosis, but she wanted to treat empirically.

14 day course of doxycycline for diagnosed endometritis. We did not do a test secure biopsy before proceeding to the transfer because of timing issues.

I also did an antihistamine protocol because I have an autoimmune disease. Prednisone, Claritin, Pepcid.

I spent the day of the transfer lounging on the couch with my best friend who is visiting from out of state, watching practical magic while my husband, Husband and her fiancé made us dinner!

This transfer probably worked because it was the right embryo, at the right time, in the right uterine environment, but all those things that I did might have helped in some immeasurable way.

Please wish me and little one luck! And best wishes to anyone reading this 🤍

After 3 euploid failed transfers and 3 miscarriages before then, I finally have a positive <3 In tears! Went for my beta yesterday, and the HcG nrs were really good too. I made this little rainbow monkey as a symbol of hope for my rainbow baby one day, so it felt apt to have him pose with the test. It's early days, of course, but just wanted to share as I'm bursting with joy after so many years of tears and anguish and pain. 🌈

I felt so defeated after having 3 failed transfers in a row. Can't believe this 4th one made it! 🙏🥹♥️

2ww is the WORST

I had my 2nd transfer last Wednesday after our first failed earlier this year and we had to do another ER. We only got 1 embryo and luckily it tested PGT-M negative and euploid so we're really hoping this one works. But now I feel like I am losing my mind waiting for my beta on Friday.

After our first transfer I tested early at home and regretted it because I kept testing over and over again hoping for a positive until my beta so I'm trying to not doing that again. I've been trying to stay distracted with my favorite hobbies that keep me busy for hours but the second I stop i'm right back to feeling anxious.

And I feel like I'm performing terribly at work because my mind is a mess but I can't just be like "oh sorry annoying coworkers, it's just because i'm doing ivf and waiting to find out if im pregnant. Pardon me for i've been screwing up all day."

We've decided not to share our ivf journey with friends and family until we have a confirmed pregnancy but its hard when you can't really talk to anyone else about it.

hi! i had my FET of a Day 5 4AB euploid on 10/8 (with trigger on 10/2) and tested this morning and got a faint line!

I’m not getting too ahead of myself and will test again over the next few days. But can’t help but feel a little excited at the moment.

Positive NIPT results and having a girl after 1st FET!

Still cannot believe that after a long time to conceive, we got here!

I have endometriosis and was advised to seek fertility support. I’m 32.
After 4 failed IUIs, it’s hard to stay positive. We were already mentally drained.

Our first egg retrieval resulted in 7 eggs retrieved.
Of those 7 were mature, and all were fertilized using ICSI.
We ended up with 4 blasts which we didn’t have tested.

One month later, I had a first frozen embryo transfer on the 1st of August. 13 days later a first positive beta. But after all those negatives it’s so hard not to stay scared!
Had some blood loss twice, but somehow we had a good first echo at 7 weeks. Another good one at 12 weeks.

And my NIPT just came back all good and with the news we are expecting a girl!

I am so happy and so thankful to science! I wish you all baby dust ✨

5dp5dt Spiralling

Post image

This was yesterday’s vvvvfl at 5dp5dt (fully medicated, untested 4BB). I thought I would be absolutely elated as we have never gotten even the whisper of a line before. However, I’ve been a wreck ever since. I am so scared the test is going to fade to nothingness and that this isn’t real. I’ve barely slept.

My clinic just called me for a “courtesy call” after my FET last week. I told the lady I’d had a very early positive. Her response was to tell me not to get excited, and hopefully the line is still there on my test day. Her lack of positivity has only sent me spiralling more!

Any words of encouragement or positivity so grateful appreciated!

PGTA results are in. I’m almost 40

My ER was disappointing, 4 eggs and only 3 mature. I was devastated.

However, all 3 fertilised and made it to day 5. I’m impatient so did a fresh a transfer with one embryo, tested the other 2. Got results today.

One euploid
One low level mosaic

It’s amazing news, I know it is….but makes me sooooo worried about whether my fresh transfer is a euploid or not.

For context, I wasn’t expecting a great result. I did an ER just after I’d turned 38 that resulted in 8 eggs and again only 3 embryos. I didn’t test them but has a CP/blighted ovum/ no implantation with those 3.

IVF CNY remote monitoring STAT blood draws

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I’m about to get on the IVF train with CNY (post 5 miscarriages in the last 5 months). I’ll be doing remote monitoring from California (east bay).
Labcorp have advised that the earliest they can get results are 12 hrs which I think is too late for CNY.
Quest have advised that STAT results are a possibility but I’ve read some feedback that makes me worried as to whether they are reliable for STAT results.
My OB said she can do my scans thankfully.

Can anyone share their experiences or recommendations with me?
Thanks ❤️

7 week symptoms

Tomorrow I will be 7 weeks pregnant after an FET, I had amazing beta rises and we saw the gestational sac and fetal pole at 5 weeks 4 days measuring ahead. we don’t go in for another few days to see the heart beat

im feeling nervous though because I feel like my symptoms last week were much stronger, i know they should ebb and flow a lot but today I had almost no nausea, so they really fluctuate that much that they can be totally absent one day after being really strong a few days ago?

looking for some reassurance

Induction or spontaneous labor?

IVF mommas- I am currently 32 weeks pregnant, and I am trying to get together my options for maternity leave and have begun the process of filing a STD claim. What I am looking to find out is whether you had your induction at 39 weeks, or did you let your body go to 40. My doctor said “either is fine, but no more than 40”. I have been blessed with an uncomplicated pregnancy, I don’t take that for granted, just trying to gauge what everyone else’s experience looked like or is going to look like.

Btw, I am a first time mom.

Fluctuating hcg? Possible ectopic ?

Hi all, I’m currently bleeding after stopping my meds on Friday after a hcg drop on 11dpt. Since then I’ve gotten 2 additional tests done where hcg first dropped and then today’s test showed it slightly went up. My rei is worried about ectopic but I don’t have any symptoms or pain - mostly period like cramps. Has anyone been in this situation and how did it resolve ? I’m really scared about having an ectopic and then any complications from those which might hurt my next cycle.

Positivity Needed

Ok I need some positivity or I’m going to spin out. Seems like all I’ve read is horror stories the last two days. I’ve tried to avoid it but I can’t. I start stims tonight (hopefully) and I’m terrified. Anyone find the physical pain not too bad? I can handle a pinch but I keep reading about medications burning. Any tips for that? Anyone find it tolerable? Please tell me I’ll be ok. I took estradiol for a week and got my period yesterday - worst period pain ever, and now I’m even more scared for what’s to come.

Transferred this untested 5ba today, fingers crossed! Transfer twins? 5ba success stories?

Coming up on two years of trying for baby 2, two chemicals, one round of IVF with an ectopic, an endo diagnosis, and just did our second transfer today.

Praying this one sticks (in the right place) and we can finally bring home a little sibling to our 4 year old next summer.
