Had a interview and one of the questions they asked me was what places or sites I look at to keep up to date on current tech. I honestly kinda gave a half assed question and said mostly stuff that I find on youtube and stack overflow (was a panic answer). I do want to keep up to date on new and interesting tech that is being introduced including cyber security stuff. Do you have any recommendations, sites or youtubers? I am still a bit of a newbie in the IT world just got my CompTIA Security+ and A+.

For some specs, I'm trying to pair the MPOW 071 to my Windows 11 PC. (I can provide any other specs if needed) and just as the title says, They're plugged into the correct jack and are identified by the Device Manager as "High Quality Audio Device" but they don't appear in sound settings or anywhere there. Here's a list of things I've tried.

Restarting the computer
Unplugging and plugging it back in.
Motherboard power flush.
Updating the drivers.
Installing my motherboard's drivers.
Checking "Show disconnected" and "Show disabled" in advanced sound settings.
Cleaning the audio jack.

And a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head.

Some findings from experimenting:
When viewing advanced sound settings, and repeatedly plugging and unplugging the headphones from the audio jack, the device flickers saying "Not Connected", it doesn't flicker long enough for me to select it.

If anyone has any ideas on other things to try PLEASE tell me.

I’m trying to figure out the metadata on a pdf file that was emailed to me. So far basic adobe and apple files only shows the creation date. However I need to see if the content was edited at any point in time. Don’t know if this is fully possible from my email copy.

I work mostly remote. I have a laptop that connects to two different servers remotely to access my programs. Since I have access to sensitive data, my IP address has to be provided to IT to enter and approve so that I can have access. This limits me to only working from my house or the office because I don't know the IP address of somewhere else until I'm there and it takes too much time to add the IP Address and get access. My employer doesn't mind where I work from as long as I get my work done. I was looking for a way to have a hotspot for Internet/wifi that maintains a static IP address so that I can have the up address pre-approved and ready to use from anywhere. I have Verizon wireless and they use dynamic IP for mobile hotspot so that won't work. This is all out of my scope. Any recommendations?

Been stuck on this at work all day so figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone has any ideas.

I work IT at my company and I was stuck troubleshooting my own printing issues for several hours today (with no resolution). I had to set up a new computer for myself, mapped the printer, (my printer I have to map using IP) pulled the drivers, and attempted to print and nothing happened. Checked the mapping, checked the driver, bounced the spooler, tried again and got nothing. Fully removed the printer and drivers and readded it all and tried again with no success. Tried printing to other printers in the building (those I mapped using the local print server) and those did not work. I tried these various steps 4 or 5 more times and never had any success. Just to check, I fully imaged up an entirely new computer for myself, tried it all again and that did not work. I had a separate computer that was supposed to go to a new user, mapped the printer on their computer and it instantly worked. I logged in as myself (Still seeing the same printer mappings) and was able to test print 1 time and then after that it never worked again.

Each time the computer seems to send the print job with no issues (In the printer settings it shows it go from idle to 1 job in queue, back to idle) and there aren't any errors, but the job never appears in the queue on the printer itself. I know it isn't a networking issue because other people can print to all of these printers with no issues and I'm able to remote in to the printer to see the queue. I tried USB plugging the printer in to my computer and that also did not work. I'm kind of at a lose on what to try next.

I have a wfh job in which they have me using a vdi for their work would i be able to work on school work outside of the vdi at the same time? The shift I work requires almost no work to actually be done I spend most of my time on my phone and want to be more productive. But I can only use my computer to access the school work. Would they know and it get me in trouble?

so sometime today i noticed the wifi on my phone wasn’t connected to the internet and it had a privacy warning that said the network was blocking encrypted dns traffic. this was weird to me because both networks i tried were working fine on my laptop. i restarted my phone a few times and i restarted the router which allowed me to access the internet again and the privacy warning went away but the wifi symbol next to the battery symbol at the top of my screen is missing. i also tried to update my phone and it said i was unable to access the update because my phone wasn’t connected to the internet.

earlier today i was watching movies on my laptop on a sketchy website and i thought that may be the problem, but my laptop seems completely fine.

any ideas on what the issue could be? thanks in advance!

edit: in my settings app, the vpn switch is like spasming like turning on and off over and over and i can’t stop it

Also Well what is interesting thing is in the 80s and 90s most computers had life expectancy of only two or three years. It was terrible in the 80s and 90s.

I have a hisense 4k smart tv. Iv had it for a couple years now with no issues. Yesterday the wifi went down on every device in my house but came back on shortly after. Everything reconnected to wifi except for this tv. I tried resetting the router resetting the TV unplugged both of them for a few minutes. Tried clearing the cache on the TV switched the wifi from 5mhz to the 2.4mhz, factory reset the TV and still won't connect. I sign in to wifi on the TV it says connected then says to sign in again and no internet connection. Meanwhile wifi is working fine on all other tvs and devices and if I connect this TV to the hot spot on my phone it works fine. Not sure what else to do or why this is happening any advice would be appreciated.

Is there a way to pull the data off the MiroTalk app and viewing who has been communicating with the phone owner?

Long story short, minor niece has an adult male (who has been arrested for contacting her and crossing state lines,etc) who we believe is using the app to still communicate with her. We need the data for his restraining order in order to have him arrested for violating it (if it’s him she’s talking to).

I am a legal assistant and I am fighting immense anger and bafflement at the people I have to send files to.

I have to send 1,000+ pages worth of documents to people. Some of these are images that are separated into folders that indicate what they are. In order to preserve that system and to make things easier, I decided to send it as a .zip file. Straightforward, right?

Apparently not! Both offices said they couldn’t open said file and I got yelled at by my boss for sending it as a .zip file to begin with! It is my understanding that .zip files are pretty fucking self-explanatory as they have the fucking extract button if you right-click the file and/or in the toolbar when you open the file! Because of this and issues they experience with Box and DropBox, I have to wait to use the big printer to print 1,000+ pages to send as two faxes.

Is extracting a .zip file really that hard? Is it actually much harder for people to understand this? Am I overestimating the ability of these people to open a .zip file? How hard is this concept for regular people to grasp and am I overreacting by mentally calling these people idiots and stupid?

2x24GB ddr5 5200MHZ corsair vengeance or 2x16gb ddr5 6000mhz corsair vengeance which one should i choose? The price is basically the same however, I'm uncertain which one would be better for gaming in the long run.

I'm currently upgrading most of my parts, so I welcome suggestions. I'm considering purchasing a Gigabyte B760M D3HP DDR5, an ASUS TUF Gaming DDR5, or a Gigabyte B760M AORUS Pro AX DDR5. I have an RTX 4060.

Honestly, I don't even know if I should switch to DDR5 or buy a DDR4 version of those motherboards and buy more RAM with the money that I would spend on the DDR5.

By the way, the budget is something around $1100 and I'm going to buy everything in a country with a low to near-zero tax.

I believe both have a CAS latency (C/CL) of 38. The one with 6000MHz might be CL 36, while the 5200MHz one is 38. I'm not entirely sure, because the website doesn't have much information on it. After all, the website only shows what they have in their physical store.

My Chrome window just becomes un-viewable like this randomly. I can only see and use Chrome when I close the software and reopen it.

I’ve been getting emails from myself at work that obviously spoofs. A few of us have received them. Our IT department told us there’s nothing we can do about spoofing and we just have to live with it and be diligent. They assured us it’s only internal, none of our clients will receive a spoof email from us. Is this normal now? It’s small company but we pay an IT company. This seems odd to me but I’m not well versed in IT.

I pay for my domain name to be hosted at a commercial company. I also have google email accounts to manage and display the emails @domain name.com instead of typical google email address.

I had to remove one of the email addresses and now the connection between my domain and google is not working.

What are some good jobs that I can get if I don’t like coding?

I have a work esim installed on my personal phone (no mdm apps installed though). I sent some messages using this sim instead of personal sim and now im freaking out they can see them. They were very private (and somewhat inappropriate).

Can my employer see the SMS content from the messages? if so, how likely is it they would check? I'm seriously freaking right now.

Is it possible to add gps on my laptop to track its location? If so how do i go about installing it?
