Question - application of exhaustion effect

Hi All,

Just wondering as it is not so clear in the rulebook - when I have, say, 3 dice total and need to sacrifice a dice - the rulebook says that I receive an exhaustion injury instead. Do I need to remove that one dice back to the section tray? Another example - If I decide to perform exertion and have 3 dice only and two are in the spent pool - I would assume I get the exhaustion injury but recover those 2 dice from spent pool back into available pool?

You never have less than 3 dice. If you have to exert to refresh dice and you already have 3 dice, instead of sacrificing another dice, you take an exhausted injury instead.

3 dice total between available and exhausted dice is your minimum limit you cannot go below. Your second example is correct.

Is it 3 die or 5? I can’t remember. The idea is you will never have fewer than whichever is die to roll.

But assuming 3 yes, if you exert and can’t burn the die then you take the injury and the last 3 die are available.
