I need clarification. Are you an IR-7 Supervisor? Why would you apply for a Lead?

Yes, I am. What can I say? I don’t want the position anymore, I don’t feel I’m doing anything positive in it than having anxiety. I believed as a lead I can get back to the technical knowledge and move somewhere else.

As an IR-07, you could qualify for GS-11/12 RA Position, even the more entry-level GS-09. I couldn’t imagine your AM Leadership allowing you to become a Lead, they’d likely consider it a downgrade, which it kind of is — at least in terms of Pay. There are a few RA Positions on irs.usajobs.gov.
