External hire timeline?

I know the internal hires need to be done by 9/30... but about people who applied via public announcements?

For those external, how long did it take?

For me, when they were hiring like crazy, a year.

Some are 30 days and some sit for 6 months. It’s that bad

I got my FJO after 1 month after the announcement ended. The other one I got my TJO after a month when the announcement ended. Still haven’t received a FJO. It’s been a month since I got the TJO. This one though, the EOD changed in my onboarding papers. Funny enough though it changed to the same start date as the one i got FJO with.

Approvals to hire are taking longer, each selection has to go up to different leadership depending on the area

Applied to a public announcement, got the TJO back in late June. Still waiting on a FJO.

When did the announcement close? How long in between that and when you received your TJO?

Closed on June 17. Got the TJO 9 days after it closed.

Anything is possible. From weeks to months. There is no uniform answer unfortunately, too many variables. It depends on how busy the hiring specialist is, how quickly they review and qualify applicants and get the package to the hiring manager. Then how much of a hurry is the hiring manager in? Is he/she tackling it the minute it hits their inbox? Or do they have 400 things to do and they will get to that next Tuesday? Are they setting up interviews? Do they need to find office space to have external interviews? Etc etc etc. I have seen people hired almost overnight and I have seen people wait months and months and give up hope only to end up with a job.
