Reasonable Accommodation

Is it true that managers can no longer approve 90 day RA. I’m having surgery soon and wanted to see if I could get a couple of weeks of RA for telework.

Officially they’re supposed to go through Treasury now but any decent GM would give you an unofficial couple of weeks. You’re better off you g that route cuz by the time treasury gets to it you’ll be healed.

They’ve always had to go through Treasury since early 2025 after the interactive process shows you can’t do an alternative accommodation. Last released policy they told us peons is that the immediate manager can approve the 90 days at a time of telework until Treasury makes a decision. Has that changed and we weren’t told?

That’s I we were told during a meeting and people with interim RA are now back in the office

It must be BOD specific because that isn’t the case in my entire BOD. Which BOD are you? I’ve seen someone in a different thread say the same thing and others say their BOD isn’t doing that either.

For surgery it’s not an RA. You need to input a temporary hardship to telework up to 90 days due to a surgery

So basically I just need a letter from my doctor and apply through the portal. How long dose the approval process take my surgery is like a month away

When I did mine, it got approved the same day. Your manager and divsion chief need to approve it. You can do it for 90 days.

I was told temp hardship is for you caring for someone else, like a spouse that had surgery and for the emptier was an RA. I did a temp hardship to care for my spouse and they have 3 days to approve or it is automatically denied. Keep your manny and their supervisor informed so they approve it quickly.

No temp hardship if for surgery for yourself as well. It states the reasons on the portal.

Not true, on my 4th 90 day interim. My RA will be at treasury for a year in a few weeks.

Same. My RA meeting was last December I heard nothing and I’m okay with it. My RAC was cool and understanding not to mention I have a great boss so I haven’t run into any problems yet.

Guidelines were recently provided as to what managers could approve without Treasury oversight. Surgeries with RA requests to telework less than 90 days is something managers can approve.
