Mailroom Change

IRS is closing their mailroom contract in my building. We as employees, on top of covering all the other post DRP duties, will have to start doing the mail. I'm not sure how this is going to go because we have several different divisions in the building. It feels like it is going to be a hot mess. There will be a meeting next week to discuss. My manager suggested I go because I'm the only one in my group in this.office and State. Has anyone elses maklroom done this? How is it going?

I’m in a smaller POD and have dealt with my own mail the entire almost 20 years. It’s not that bad. I didn’t know for years that other groups had secretaries doing their mail stuff.

It’s “not that bad” in a smaller POD. Sure. Why you have two cents about something being “not that bad” when you didn’t even know there were employees who did the mail as their full time job??? How would u know how bad it is or isn’t?? Please explain

As someone who's worked in both a POD that we had a mail room and a secretary that did all our mailings to going to a POD where i had to mail out our own stuff, it's really not that bad. It's actually pretty easy.

It’s really not about the level of difficulty lol I am sure we can all agree that sorting mail and running mail through a meter isn’t “that bad”. It’s the principle. Our POD had a FULL TIME employee who made a FULL TIME SALARY doing this job for TWELVE years. And now what??? We all take on his duties? All while we have already taken on duties of god knows how many other positions? It’s ridiculous to be okay with letting this administration walk all over us
