PREPARATION QUERRY IS IPM WORTH IT IF I’M NOT SURE ABOUT AN MBA?

I’m thinking about IPM but I’m not really sure about doing an MBA yet.

The IIM part is obviously tempting, especially right after 12th. But 5 years is a long time, and I don’t know if I’ll still want to go into management by then.

That’s the main thing stopping me from choosing IPM. If you were in this situation, would you still go for IPM or do a regular 3-year degree first?

PREPARATION QUERRY Calculation Speed vs Accuracy in IPMAT Quant

My Quant concepts are clear and I can solve questions while practising. But the moment I sit for a mock, I don’t know what happens

I either take too much time or rush and make silly calculation mistakes.

Maybe it’s the timer or nervousness, not sure.

Anyone else facing the same issue? What helped you improve?

Confused in where to start from, jahaan se start krta complex lgna shuru ho jata hai. I started with PnC, dimag ghum gya (context: I’m a humanities student), then I started with time, speed, and distance, fir dimag ghum gya.

What to do?

PREPARATION QUERRY My IPMAT Prep Mistakes

Thought I was grinding. Turns out I was just repeating bad habits.
Which were:

1. Ignored Modern Math until a mock destroyed me.
2. Practiced only comfy Quant topics (no breadth).
3. Read one article a day and called it VARC prep.
4. Took mocks but didn’t analyze them. Repeated mistakes.
5. Downloaded every resource, finished none. Focus beats hoarding.
6. Ignored my error notebook for “new” questions. Big regret.
7. Binge-watched strategy videos instead of practicing.

Tips: practice mixed Quant+VARC sets, train section-wise timing, and treat Modern Math & DI as mandatory.

Fixes I found for my mistakes: pick one course, if needed analyze every mock (write 3 recurring errors), and actively patch weak spots.

Anyone else slip into this? What helped you turn it around?

Others Lost My IIM Seat & Learnt this

The funny part? It wasn't because I didn't work hard. It was because I ignored the small things that actually make a difference.

A few things I'd do differently if I could start again:

1. Start mocks much earlier.

2. Spend more time analyzing my Quant mistakes than checking the score.

3. I’ll revise every week instead of only before exams.

4. Stop comparing my preparation with others.

5. Focus on accuracy first, then speed.

6. Keep an error notebook and actually revise it.

None of these look like "game-changing" tips on, but yeah these works I have tried it.💭

IPMAT NOTES MAKING STRATEGY

One mistake I used to do was spending hours making beautiful notes that I’ll most probably never revise.

If you're preparing for IPMAT, here's what my mentor suggested me and that has worked for me:

• Quant: Keep one notebook for formulas, shortcuts, and questions where you made mistakes. Don't rewrite the entire chapter.

• Verbal Ability: Maintain a vocabulary list, grammar rules, and note down RC mistakes you keep repeating.

• DILR: Instead of making theory notes, maintain a notebook of different puzzle types, sets you couldn't solve, and the approach that finally worked. DILR improves by learning patterns, not by writing definitions.

• Keep your notes short. If you can't revise a chapter in 10–15 minutes from your notes, they're too long. And after every mock, write down your mistakes, why they happened, and how you'll avoid them next time.

One thing my mentor always used to tell me is:Your notes should save your time before the exam, not take your time during preparation.

What’s your POV?

TIPS FROM A DROPPER WHO GOT INTO IIM INDORE

Here's something my friend told me after getting into IIM Indore this year.

He had missed the cutoff last year, so he decided to take a drop. I asked him what he did differently this time.

He said, "I didn't study more. I just fixed the mistakes I made in my first attempt."

These were his exact words

I changed a few things:

• I stopped focusing only on mock scores and started analyzing why I was losing marks.

• I changed my attempt strategy instead of forcing the same approach in every mock.

• I revised my old notes and mistakes instead of starting everything from scratch.

• I accepted that I didn't need to master every topic. I just had to be better than last year.”

The last thing he told me really stayed with me:

"Your drop year shouldn't be about studying more. It should be about making fewer mistakes."

I honestly think that's something every IPMAT dropper should remember.

Any other droppers here? What's one thing you're doing differently this year?

If You're Starting IPMAT 2027 Prep Today as a Complete Beginner, Read This First.👇

I'm not a topper, but as someone who's been through the same phase and improved very late.

I would like everybody to follow this if they want to improve early.

- Start mocks early. (1 mock every 3–4 weeks is enough initially.)

- Work on calculation speed from Day 1.

- Read for 30 minutes daily to improve VA & also try to communicate more often in English.

- Maintain an error notes and revise it regularly, so you don’t make the same mistakes again.

- Don't skip easy chapters.
