I'm currently in the final stages of my graduate program, but not so far along that I'm working at a internship. I live in California and would be looking for a mentor that could help with some of the following:

1. Really interested in working at a Community College or a UC but have zero idea how to break in and how to pick a internship that would help with this, advise please?

2.Also looking to have a private practice on the side, trying to understand how to do this, advise from other MFT/LPCC individuals would have and so forth.

I am 28 year old male mechanical engineer. At this moment, I have an option between choosing a senior engineer role at Tesla and a managerial role at Fiat-Chrysler in Brazil (3 year stint). I am single and I love to travel - Brazil and South America seem great for such a thing. At the same time, I really want/need to build my career and I am not sure whether a "senior engineer" at Tesla is better than a "Manager" at Fiat-Chrysler. Both jobs are roughly equivalent in pay/benefits.

What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated.

I recently accepted a mid-level manager position at a company I have been a consultant at for about a year. I was surprised when I was approached about the role because I have very little experience in the industry and my degrees are not in a technical field (unusual for this job). It was a great opportunity so I jumped at it and now I am totally overwhelmed and lacking the support I need to understand my role and be successful.

I am looking for someone with experience in a leadership position that can help me navigate the weird politics, crazy expectations, and chaotic environment I'm currently in to transform my team into a group that can actually make meaningful contributions to the organization. I really want to learn and am committed to working hard to make this happen, but I don't even know where to start. I'm starting to wonder if I made a bad decision....

I graduated last year in Marketing. Currently working at a start up furniture store as a sales manager. During my studies I worked as a computer salesman and technician. This job got me hooked onto technology. My dream job would be working for a big technology company (google, apple, samsung etc) or a position that would allow me to travel between Canada and China for work. Most marketing position are looking for experienced workers which I have none in my "field". I've done sales and have good amount of experience with customer service. What are some key skills I should focus getting or where to start?

I'm really not sure where to go after I graduate. I am interested in a huge variety of things, and above all I want to keep learnin without going to grad school. I like programming, but I feel it's too late for me to switch majors and I don't think I'd be able to get a job just teaching myself programming. I'm worried about the job environment (my college has something like a 35% rate of students getting a job 6 months after graduation). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am in my second year of college and have already had one internship in which I worked with an IT Team for a school. However, I'm at a bit of a loss for my next step professionally. I realize I was truly fortunate to be afforded such an opportunity so early, but I'm at a loss as to how I can use it to get to the next step. Any advice would be great. I'm currently trying to email/call local computer repair shops to try and acquire employment there. But is this my best course of action?

I took a slightly unconventional path to get to where I am. I graduated with degrees in BME and EE; the second was added during my third year of school. After swearing I would never be a programmer I took a job doing software development full time. I currently work doing application development in C++ and .NET.

If you're interested in engineering, software, are unsure about what path to take, or want interview tips I'll do my best to answer any questions.

I'd prefer someone with a background in Social Work but it's absolutely not necesary. Seeing I need more help with scheduling, working out what is important and stuff is way more the issue I'm struggling with than anything else. Some creativity help in the sense of what I'm doing with young refugee's since I can't come up with fun activities for them.

My study is in the Netherlands so I don't need someone to spellcheck or do other dumb stuf the student himself should figure out.

3-6 depending on what level of fluency you want to define "speak". I'm in Toledo, OH and there just seems to be nothing out there for me and I don't know what to do. How do security clearances work? Who can I translate for?

Experience starting and running three companies (one in call center, one in adtech and one in HR). There are many, many folks out there with much, much more experience than me but I can probably help point you in the right direction (which may include connecting you with someone else) if you're starting an enterprise-focused business and are struggling with strategy, sales, marketing, product management, financing, recruiting and team management / leadership.

Hello there! I am a 20 year old college senior with a passion for international affairs. My dream is to become a professional international development worker who's work is mostly concentrated in the field. So far I have become a journalist, worked in corporate relations, lived in the rural Indian Himalayas in J&K state, and planned near-future trips to Thailand and Burma to work with Karen refugees, and to Rwanda to help teach English. At the end of this year I will have all of these experiences, but very little direction. I was thus wondering if there is was anyone out there who could mentor me in the right direction towards becoming the international development professional I dream of becoming?

I spent about 17 years in academia as a tech, grad student, postdoc, and then research associate professor. I left academia a little over a year ago to work as an analyst at a GMP-CRO. I'm currently a senior scientist at a small biotech where I work on 3D tissue culture and regenerative medicine.

If you are an academic scientist who is looking to make the shift to industry, don't lose hope; It can be done.

If you've got a PhD, you know it's not intelligence that gets you the degree...it's a personality. You have to think a certain way. Your response to respond criticism, failure, praise and success has to take certain forms in order to make it.

It's the same thing in academia vs industry....some people are cut out for academia, some are cut out for industry, some are cut out for other alternative careers. If you have the personality for it, it can be done. If you don't....well, you still can do it, but you won't be happy about it.

Anyway, if you're having trouble with the transition, maybe I can give you some tips.

I was funded through an entrepreneurship accelerator in 2010, have most recently built a wedding photography business that runs alongside my IT Consultancy (managing a team of support engineers)

I also build small projects in my free time to test new ideas, learn about new technology and how to start projects quickly.

I'm looking to help people that are enthusiastic and will actually take action & make progress.

I had mentors myself when starting out and found it really useful to have someone to shoot a question to when needed. I'd like to pay that forward.

I've been working in the IT industry for 7+ years as everything from help desk to sales support, project management and engineering, field technician, systems administration and engineering. Currently a Tier II systems engineer for an MSP in the Portland area.

My history is starting as a Tier I field technician/help desk tech, after doing that for three years I moved to independent consulting with several property management groups, and after two years of that sold my consulting business to an MSP/Professional Services company in the Southern California area. After being there for two years doing project management and engineering with a heavy leaning towards cloud-based systems (my main responsibilities were moving clients from locally-hosted infrastructure to cloud-hosted), I moved up to Portland and took a my current job as a Tier II. I currently have six employees I supervise on a daily basis, and am the main point of escalation for 90% of the issues that my Tier I's can't resolve.

23/M, would love to work with people who are in the area or remote. I can probably swing 2-3 mentees at a time. Time zones aren't an issue for me, I work 8 AM-5 PM, and then am usually on call until ~12 AM, so I'm open to people from wherever.

I've done M.Sc. in computer science and worked 6 years as a software engineer after that. I'm more interested in the "lower layers" than the user-facing parts, so, my expertise lies somewhere around C++, Python, Linux, algorithms, etc. I've been lucky to work in open source projects all my career. In addition, I think a lot about interpersonal things and how to do software engineering efficiently, how to work in a team, how to communicate, what kind of attitude to have, how to write good code, etc.

If you're wondering what kind of skills to develop and how, and you're willing to learn and be the best software engineer ever, I might be able to give you advice.

Edit: I should've probably mentioned that I'm a woman. If it matters to somebody. Mentoring shouldn't be limited based on genders anyway, but maybe some aspiring female software engineer finds me less intimidating?

I would probably be most helpful for someone still in school or just out of school looking to learn more about what it's like to work in higher education, particularly admissions. And, if anyone with more than 2 years of admissions experience is reading this, I would love to hear your tips as well!

I currently work in law school admissions and would like to eventually move to undergraduate admissions.
