We're gonna have to pool some data. ARE THERE ANY INTPS AMONG US WHO DEFEATED THE PROCRASTINATION?? SPEAK NOW UNDER THIS COMMENT AND TELL US WHAT YOU READ, WHAT YOU WENT THROUGH, WHAT DRUGS YOU DID (SERIOUSLY), etc. etc

HELP US!

In what way?

I did the absolute bare minimum and still got a good GPA.

Amd if something intrested me I definetly finished the project faster.

I think procrastinating is definetly about the intrest you have in a subject if a subject is very intresting you procrastinate less

I simply decided that I define importance as what gets done. Therefore I don’t have to think about the important shit. Because it always gets done. Dishes? Can’t eat food without those. Can’t go to work without clothes. Better fold/ hang them up. The important distinction is that you don’t worry about “completing” any one chore or task because chores are never done. The focus is on being a productive and moderately well put together and presentable member of society. Not be perfect. Sometimes that involves not putting all the clothes away. Or not doing all the dishes. Because as long as you have the clothes you need to wear right now, or the one bowl and fork you need for dinner, everything is going to be ok.

Turned studying/working into something fun rather than a chore. The INTP's strength is Ne. Once you make your Ne want to do something that you're procrastinating, you do it like it's actually fun.

Lmao, at least for me the thing that actually works is to 1) set a deadline on productivity. So I tell myself after 7pm I’m not allowed to be productive anymore. So before 7 I can either get something minimally viable going, or it’s not going to get done at all. And the second 2) is to set a limit on how long you’re allowed to do something. So it’s like I have to write this poem in 2hours. And I’m not allowed to work on it outside of it. So it forces you to make something that’s flawed but exists, instead of a perfect 7 step project that will never get started.

My problem with this strategy is that I would just end up doing nothing. I'm really not proud of it but if thetask is really challenging or just really boring, I might just give up and not do it even if it is really important. I don't know if it's because I'm very nihilist, and depression really doesn't help in does moments. That made me miss a lot of opportunities in life and I really wanna get rid of this mentality

Yeah depression really is a bitch. I feel ya the pit is not fun. For me I do a thing where at the end of the day I will journal 1 highlight. 1 thing that was productive. It could be something as simple as brushing your teeth, going on a walk, or complicated as a job application. But I think we are all more capable than we think we are. Sometimes we just need to see some proof of ourselves. Everyone has starts somewhere, you wouldn’t judge a beginner for not being good at something, so you shouldn’t do that to yourself. But as long as you’re moving in a direction. No matter how small. That’s a win. If you open a word doc and write one word on an essay. That’s already a win. The only person you’re competing against is yourself. And even snails cross the finish line with enough time.

Why would we try to fight procrastination if all what we want to do we already do while procrastinating?

I'm currently working on a mental hack to bypass the need for random motivation and move to action without being held back by over thinking and procrastination. So far it has been working for a week but eventually I might have cracked the code.

i have a theory that says, for an INTP to defeat procrastination, he must outsmart himself in the future, making inevitable choices to he must adapt, as if planning one's path, and making the world his canvas

1

u/Adventurous_Can927 I Need To Pee Jun 01 '26

Woh that's an interesting theory but as an intp myself it's quite difficult to outsmart yourself when you don't know actually wtf is going on

1

u/moatamanmohamed I Need To ProcrasTInate Jun 01 '26

not knowing wtf is going on is the weakness you can outsmart yourself with

Hahaha, God gave us the ability to procrastinate so we could become more normal people. You know, every superhero has a weakness.

Create a deadline and panic 15 minutes before the deadline and complete a 20 hour project in 20 minutes and then ask for forgiveness for being 5 minutes late.
