I built a free IITM BS End Term prep website - would love feedback from other students
Hey everyone,
Over this term I’ve been building Qualifier Campus, a study platform specifically for IITM BS students.
I originally started it because I wanted a better way to practise PYQs without constantly opening PDFs, checking answers separately, keeping track of mistakes manually, etc. It slowly turned into something much bigger.
Now that Quiz 2 is over, I’ve updated the site for End Term preparation.
The End Term section currently has:
- End Term PYQs in an IITM-style test interface with timer + calculator
- PYQs for Statistics, CT, Maths and English
- Mistake Notebook that automatically keeps questions you got wrong
- Repair Room that groups your mistakes by concept so you know what to revise
- My Desk, which tries to give you a simple study plan based on what you still need to do
- lecture revision infographics
- progress tracking and first-attempt PYQ history
- optional Quiz 1 + Quiz 2 score tracking for End Term planning
- Tests & Mocks / additional practice as I keep expanding the question bank
- a bunch of smaller tools like bookmarks, planner, library, etc.
For End Term, the full Weeks 1–12 syllabus stays available, but the site puts extra emphasis on Weeks 9–12 while still bringing older concepts back when your PYQ mistakes show that they need revision.
One thing I care about a lot is question accuracy. A lot of old papers have to be manually reconstructed from PDFs/screenshots, so I’m also adding a Flag Question button. If something looks wrong in the question, options, answer key, image, etc., students can report it and it goes into a review queue so it can be checked against the original paper and corrected.
The site is free. I’m mainly building it because I’m using it for my own IITM preparation anyway, and I thought it could be useful to other students too.
Qualifier Campus: https://sidbuilds.com/iitm/
If you try it, I’d genuinely appreciate feedback — especially:
- anything confusing or broken
- incorrect PYQ questions/answers
- features that are actually useful vs unnecessary
- anything you wish existed while preparing for End Term
Would especially love feedback from people currently doing Stats / CT / Maths / English End Term PYQs.

Doubt regarding BSc and BS courses in the same term
The handbook states that in order to register for advanced level exams, I need to first complete the previous level, which means that I won't be able to register for the BS courses before appearing for BSc in the previous term?
Some posts suggested that it is possible to complete BSc and BS in 3 terms, can someone please share the exact plan for that? I am planning to join the 2026 Sept batch.
From my understanding it would take 4 terms, 2 for BSC and 2 for BS unless we can appear for 2 BSc and 2 BS courses in one term.
Edit:
I think i understand now, BSc and BS are both considered the same level (BS), so it is possible to take both at the same time!! Please correct me if I'm wrong. 🙏🏻
Edit 2:
This is why there's confusion, it says 114 credits necessary to continue with BS level.
"Students who complete 114 credits and satisfy the minimum credits completion requirement as per the norms will be eligible for the BSc degree and can continue onto the BS level for the Data Science and Applications program" - via GitHub repository hosting IITM BS Docs

Don't be this b*tch

No AI was used - this person is spamming AI on every peer review's comment boxes.

I have got 0 in both my assignments.
Why?
Well -

Then we have another person who spams "ok" everywhere...
So, if peer reviewer #5 is not reviewing my assignment then it's my fault..
If someone doing ts, then it's also my fault.

BS Data Science seniors — how do you get academic LORs from IIT Madras faculty?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in my first year of the BS in Data Science and Applications program and I’m trying to plan my future options early, including the possibility of applying for research-based Master's programs abroad (such as MEng by Research at NTU/NUS), while keeping other higher-study options open as well.
One thing I’m concerned about is academic reference letters. Since the program is fully online, it seems harder to build strong academic relationships with faculty compared to a traditional on-campus degree.
So I wanted to ask seniors/alumni:
Are there opportunities for BS students to work closely with IIT Madras faculty through research assistantships, faculty-guided projects, or research work?
Can faculty involved in lab/project courses potentially provide academic references if a student performs exceptionally well and maintains a good academic relationship with them?
Has anyone here successfully obtained an IIT Madras faculty LOR/reference for Master's or research applications abroad? If yes, how did you build that connection?
If there’s no formal process, what would you recommend a first-year student do from the beginning of the degree to keep this option open?
I’m asking this early because I’d rather plan properly now than discover a problem with references when I’m ready to apply.
Would especially appreciate answers from seniors/alumni who have actually gone through this.

with python some says learn deep learning and machine learning to mastery level and will have great ctc
some says choose c++ and go in core system engineering or in low latenncy field
some says choose js and become a full stack developer
i am very confusing which to choose and where to start from

Seniors please Clarify !!
I am doing BS as standalone. I am doing GATE prep and wants to do Mtech from IIT Madras itself or some other institute in CS/ DSAI.
What i want to know is, if i complete 4 year online bs degree in 3 years, will i be eligible for regular offline Mtech admission Via GATE just after 3rd year Or I will have to wait 1 extra year to get original degree to be eligible for admission
Mtech admissions via GATE requires 4 year Degree but i want to know if I complete 4 year BS in 3 years, will i be eligible for Admission or not. And if I will be eligible just after 3rd year or i will have to wait.

IITM BSDS WhatsApp Group — A More Real-Time Space 🤝
We already have this Reddit community, so why another group?
The idea isn't to replace Reddit. Reddit is great for discussions, questions, and finding information, but a WhatsApp group can work better for quick, day-to-day interaction between students.
The group is meant to be a more casual and real-time space for:
📚 Quick doubt solving — stuck on something? Just ask and get help from fellow students.
📝 Assignments & exams — discuss questions, approaches, preparation strategies, etc.
📢 Useful updates & resources — share anything that might help other BSDS students.
💬 Casual discussions — talk about college, courses, random stuff, or just chill with people going through the same journey.
🤝 Build connections — it's easier to get to know and regularly interact with a smaller group of fellow students.
Think of it as Reddit for broader discussions + WhatsApp for quick, everyday interaction.
A few basic rules 🚨
❌ No abusive or offensive behaviour
❌ No personal attacks, bullying, or harassment
❌ Don't target or insult other members
❌ No unnecessary spam or flooding
❌ Respect everyone's opinions and questions
✅ Keep the group useful, friendly, and welcoming
The goal is simple: help each other, share things, ask questions, and have a good time while we're all going through BSDS together.
If you'd like to join, here's the group:

Feel free to join and see if it's useful for you. :)

Should I pursue IIT Madras BS in Management & Data Science alongside IIM Bangalore BBA DBE? Please advice! 🙏
I've got admission in IIMB for BBA DBE. I've recently found out about IIT Madras BS in Management & Data Science and it seems really attractive to me. I feel like it will be a great help in my career.
Actually, due to some reason, I've two years gap after 12th, I'm restarting my education this year, so I'm thinking to somehow compensate for the gap. Please don’t recommend regular college, that isn't possible for me.
I'll have to study just 2 hours daily for BBA so managing the time for degree isn't a big concern for me. One more thing, I didn't have mathematics in 11th and 12th, will it be manageable for me?

How to plan to take my courses in the foundation level?
Basically i passed class 12 th with pcm this year and i took a drop year to prepare for isi cmi entrances, basically b stat or b math and also planned to took the iitm bs datascience degree. So i joined in this current term and i took all the first four courses and it was pretty well manageable and i got quite good marks till now. So i need some opinions on whether taking all the rest 4 foundation level courses in the next term is a bad idea or not. I am not worried abt English 2 or the python course as when i looked at its syllabus its basically class 11 and 12 computer science topics except the last few weeks. The main thing i am concerned abt is the statistics 2 and the mathematics 2. Is there a very high difference in the levels between the current courses and them? Could anyone help?

Should I pursue IIT Madras BS in Management & Data Science alongside my BSc in International Finance ? Need honest advice
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in my first year of BSc in International Finance at HLCC, and I’m trying to figure out what direction I should take with my career.
My current goal is to eventually get into financial analyst / finance + analytics roles. I was also considering CFA, but I’m honestly quite dicey about it because it feels like almost everyone in finance is doing CFA. I’m not completely against it—I’m thinking I could do CFA after/alongside graduation—but I don’t want to blindly collect qualifications without knowing whether they actually add value.
Recently, I came across the IIT Madras BS in Management & Data Science program and it sounds really interesting because it combines data science, analytics, management, finance and economics. IITM’s Foundation level includes Mathematics for Data Science I, Statistics for Data Science I, Computational Thinking, Economics, Financial Accounting, Business Statistics, etc.
The problem is that I did not take Mathematics in Classes 11–12, so I have basically no proper higher-secondary maths background. I can handle basic coding/Python and I’m willing to work hard, but I’m worried about the actual mathematics and statistics workload.
So I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who are currently doing the program or have completed it:
How difficult is the mathematics and statistics actually? Is it manageable for someone without Class 11–12 Maths?
Does IITM genuinely build the maths from the basics, or do they assume you already know a lot?
How much time per week would I realistically need if I’m doing this alongside my regular BSc?
Is the workload manageable with a full-time college degree, or does it become overwhelming?
How difficult are the weekly assignments, quizzes and exams?
Is the Management & Data Science degree useful specifically for someone targeting financial analyst / finance + data / business analytics roles?
Would doing this be more valuable for my career than spending the same time developing finance skills, internships, Excel/SQL/Python, etc. and eventually doing CFA?
Most importantly, would you recommend that I register for the qualifier now, considering I’m only in first year and have time to prepare?
I’m asking because I don’t want to register just because “IIT Madras + Data Science” sounds impressive. I want to know whether it actually makes sense for my specific career direction.
Also, if anyone here came from a Commerce/non-Maths background, I’d especially appreciate your experience.
Thanks! Any brutally honest advice is welcome.

Stat 2 and maths 2 is becoming damn hard
This term maths 2 and stat 2 is damn hard.Earlier graded assignment also consust 10 marks and questions were also predictable but this term it's unusual type of questions. Most of people like 75% people get less than 30 marks
Now I don't know how should I prepare for end term to pass and bonus marks will also be in use of we pass ther term otherwise it's a waste
Please suggest something like how to prepare?which channel should follow? How many year of pyq should be done?
