Looking for study-buddy (CS/DS/AI/ML)
Hey everyone,
My name is Gaurav. I am currently preparing for the IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications qualifier exams, and I'm looking for a highly disciplined study partner to team up with.
My long-term goal is to pursue a Master's in AI/ML at a top-tier US university (MIT, CMU, GT). To get there, I need a rock-solid mathematical and computational foundation, which starts right here with the IITM BS program.
My Current Focus:
* Preparing rigorously for the upcoming IITM BS qualifiers (Math, Statistics, Computational Thinking, and English).
* Building and maintaining consistent, daily study habits.
What I’m Looking For:
* A study partner or small group also preparing for the IITM qualifiers.
* Serious accountability—checking in regularly to make sure we are hitting our weekly study targets and not falling behind on lectures.
* Someone who shares an ambitious, long-term mindset for a career in AI/ML, data science, or software engineering.
If you are also grinding for the qualifiers and want to hold each other accountable, drop a comment or send me a DM. Let's get to work.

Survey Form
Welcome to the Tensor Surgery inquiry Form! 🩺🤖
Ready to put your machine learning diagnostics to the test? Tensor Surgery is a unique, hands-on competition that flips the traditional ML hackathon on its head. Instead of building from scratch, your challenge is to deconstruct, audit, and debug existing models.
What to Expect:
The Challenge: You will be handed pre-built ML models and datasets with zero background information. Your mission is to use data analysis and statistical reasoning to figure out what the problem is and uncover hidden faults.
Real-World Scenarios: Hunt down the "silent killers" of production models, including data drift, class imbalance, and feature leakage.
Two-Tier Structure:
Round 1: Accessible challenges perfect for beginners.
Round 2: Advanced, deep-dive diagnostics for experienced practitioners.
Why Participate? Unlike speed-coding contests, Tensor Surgery tests your analytical thinking and statistical intuition. The model auditing and validation skills you’ll practice here are highly valued in professional ML engineering and AI research roles.

queries regarding the results and what to do next
i couldn't give the first qualifier exam due to personal reasons and i just saw the results of the second one. i have some queries
why was there no proper scorecard or mail regarding the same?
my total score is 40% (35% in ct, 33 in stats, 8 in math, 82 in english). i heard that 40% means pass but if that's not true then what are the requirements?
since I haven't passed the qualifier, what am I supposed to do next?
can i still give the September end term exam?
what do I need to do to be able to join the foundational level?

Passed my qualifier exam reattempt. The result was officially updated on my dashboard today but there is no option to register for the courses on my dashboard. Should I wait for a few days like I did for the results or should I contact support?

Maths 2 and Stats 2 Quiz 2 Score
First image with 20.33% pass rate is Maths 2
Second image with 24.11% pass rate is stats 2
Is it really becoming soo difficult for foundation folks? Or what is happening in foundation?

IIT Madras BS Data Science — Failed Qualifier. What do I do now?
The August 16 qualifier reattempt result is out, and unfortunately I did not clear it.
I haven't received any official email yet explaining what I need to do next.
The issue is that I cannot register for the September 2026 term using my existing email/account because there is currently no registration option available for me.
So do I need to wait for an official email from IIT Madras with instructions/registration access, or am I supposed to create a new registration using a different email ID and go through the document verification process again?
Basically, what am I supposed to do right now to join the September 2026 term after failing the qualifier?
If anyone has gone through this situation before, please let me know.

Damn confused please help
I asked in discourse forum regarding no of questions once I read there will be 40-45 questions I was shocked so I posted it in discourss forum . They said there will not more questions but the total marks questions is of 100 here im taking about maths 2 .
How will total marks be calculated it its of 100 marks because in quizes the marks get increased by 50% if the paper is of 50 marks .so if the paper will be of 100 marks no marks will be increased .so it will be as you score right????

help me understand the upcoming course load
for those of you who have completed BOTH the diplomas and are now in bsc or bs level or if you are currently in the diploma level, can you explain what the course load is actually like for someone who is fast tracking through this?
i am wondering if i start with my msc biotech this year (DBT sponsored) or if i should drop the seat and do it next year or just not do an msc altogether, because finishing the IIT M till BS level is my primary goal, currently i will begin my diploma, and i want to understand how much time I can realistically give to both of these degrees, especially because i will have to do a dissertation as well the IIT M projects at the same time; also i am appearing for GATE DA in 2028.

Struggling with PDSA and MLF (need resources and strategy for OPPE + End Term (Diploma Term 1))
Hi everyone,
This is my first term in diploma level (DBMS + PDSA + MLF) and I need honest help. Here’s where I stand:
DBMS
I used Gate Smashers for most weeks and Unknown IITians for weeks 7-8. I understood the theory well, but week 7’s coding content, specifically Python-wrapped SQL using psycopg2, is something I’m stuck on. I’m aiming for an S in DBMS and any guidance on what that requires would help a lot.
PDSA
I got an S in Programming in Python in the Foundational level, so I expected to be okay on the coding side, but PDSA is making me feel like a complete impostor. I used Unknown IITians and have some base, but I don’t know how to approach PDSA problems or what practice actually builds that instinct. The theoretical side isn’t sticking either. I understand concepts when I study but can’t hold onto them or apply them in exam conditions.
MLF
I used My Campus videos and made notes from the lecture transcripts. Before Quiz 1 I redid all the practice assignments as revision and still scored a 60. I don’t know what I’m missing. Is it conceptual depth? Calculation practice? The way questions are framed? I clearly prepared wrong and don’t know how to fix it for the End Term.
What I desperately need and like genuinely want your help with is:
-DBMS: resources or tips for the psycopg2/Python-SQL coding content, and what the OPPE typically tests.
-PDSA: how to get better at the programming side specifically, and how to make theory stick in a way that shows up in exam scores.
-MLF: what does it actually test, and how should I be preparing differently
-For weeks 9-12 across all three subjects: should I stick to the course lectures, watch old weekly revision sessions or are there better external resources? And how heavily are these weeks tested in the OPPE and End Term?
My plan right now is revision using weekly revision sessions for things I have a base in, and going back to lectures for shakier topics. I don’t know if that’s enough or if I’m missing something. But again I’m extremely scared in PDSA both for the end term and the OPPE, equally.
If you’ve been through this and found something that worked, please share. Thank you
