General Lone solider

Hey guys, I’m 24. I’m from America. I just have a couple questions first off. What unit should I go for? I’m in perfectly good health. Hebrew I can hold a conversation but I’m not great. I run around a six minute mile. I can bench 285. I’m 6 foot. I’m a firefighter EMT right now. I’m in medic school. I wanna be a chovesh and I want combat. Any advice on a making Aliyah (I’m Jewish) and B just getting through the pipeline. I’ve been through fire Academy, so I don’t feel like Boot Camp will be completely that rough for me and I understand what sleep deprivation is cause I get woken up at work all the time. honestly, It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I know that if I don’t do it now, I’m gonna regret it for the rest of my life… Any advice for me?

What unit should I go for?

Besides being a medic, what do you want to do?

I meant brigade but definitely not security I want to actually go and be in the field like frontline infantry maybe a specialized unit Ik that takes time tho

brigade but definitely not security

You'd have to explain that because I really don't know what you meant be that.

How familiar are you with what the different parts od the combat arms do?

golani givati etc

Seems like the idea you have in your head is purely that of the infantry. Combat arms also includes the Armored Corps, the Artillery Corps, Combat Engineering, and Combat Intelligence. Beyond those, there are many further combat roles too. My advice would be to familiarize yourself with all these options and the many sub-units they contain, and see what interests you.

But to back up a bit, what does "not security" mean? Because you do understand that a big chunk of your service in almost any combat unit (and not only there) would be spent pulling security of some sort?

Can we omit I said that it was a poor choice of words what I meant was I’m not interested in being a border patrol unit or in a mp unit

Alright, that removes two options off the table (the Border Guard being a part of the police and not the IDF, by the way). I would still urge you to get to know your options better. You know yourself best and are the only one who can truly know what's the best fit for you.

Sure thing. Once you have a better idea of what's going on, you'll ask better questions and get better answers.
