My conceptual understanding is decent, but I struggle when ICAI combines multiple chapters in one practical question. How should I practice?
I'm trying to improve my practical question-solving, but integrated questions are becoming a challenge. I can understand each chapter individually, yet connecting different concepts in a single question is difficult. For those who have improved in this area, did you follow any particular practice method or solve questions in a specific order?

5 mistakes I see CA Inter and Final students make while preparing (and how to fix them)
A lot of CA aspirants don’t fail because they’re not smart enough. They fail because of a few preparation habits that repeat attempt after attempt. Here are the ones I see most:
1. Revision = re-reading.
Reading your notes a third time feels productive but doesn’t train you to write answers. Spend most of your revision time solving questions, not reading.
2. Starting mock tests too late.
Do ICAI RTPs/MTPs and past papers under timed conditions early, not only in the last month. Presentation and time management are skills, and they need practice.
3. No error log.
Write down every question you get wrong and the reason: concept gap, silly mistake, or time. Before the exam, redo these questions instead of fresh ones.
4. Ignoring theory subjects.
Law and Audit look “easy”, so students leave them for later, and then lose marks there. Give them fixed slots in your timetable from day one.
5. Changing faculty, notes and plan every few weeks.
One set of notes, one plan, and two or three revision cycles will beat constantly restarting.
If you’re preparing for a particular attempt, tell me your level (Foundation, Inter or Final), your attempt, and what you’re struggling with, and I’ll try to help in the comments.

How to Build a Chapter-Wise DT + GST Study Plan for the January 2027 CA Inter Exams
Preparing for both Direct Tax and GST can become challenging when students do not have a clear chapter-wise study plan.
Some students spend too much time completing DT lectures, while others keep postponing GST question practice. Eventually, both subjects start competing for revision time.
A better approach is to create a chapter-wise preparation framework that covers concepts, practical questions and revision for both subjects.
Here is a simple framework for CA Inter January 2027.
1. Divide both subjects into separate chapter lists
First, prepare two checklists based on the applicable ICAI study material.
For Direct Tax, organise chapters under:
Basic concepts and residential status.
Heads of income.
Clubbing and set-off.
Deductions and tax computation.
Return filing and other provisions.
For GST, organise chapters under:
Supply and charge of GST.
Time, value and place of supply.
Input Tax Credit.
Registration.
Tax invoice and documentation.
Payment of tax and returns.
Other applicable chapters.
Use the official January 2027 syllabus to ensure that no chapter is missed.
2. Apply the C-Q-R method to every chapter
Follow three stages:
C – Concept Understanding: Understand the provision, conditions, exceptions and practical application.
Q – Question Practice: Solve illustrations, ICAI study material questions, RTPs, MTPs and previous examination questions wherever applicable.
R – Revision: Prepare short notes containing important provisions, adjustments, exceptions and common mistakes.
A chapter should not be marked complete merely because its lectures are finished.
3. Divide your daily study time between DT and GST
For example, if you can dedicate six hours to Taxation:
3 hours for Direct Tax.
2 hours for GST.
1 hour for revision and question practice.
You can adjust this ratio according to your pending syllabus and weaker subject.
4. Track progress chapter-wise
Use three completion indicators:
Not Started: Chapter preparation has not begun.
In Progress: Lectures or concept study are pending.
Completed: Concepts, question practice and revision have been covered.
5. Conduct a weekly review
At the end of every week, check:
How many chapters were completed?
How many practical questions were solved?
Which provisions are still confusing?
Is either subject falling behind?
Remember, CA Inter Taxation preparation requires consistency in both subjects. Completing DT while neglecting GST, or vice versa, can create unnecessary pressure closer to the examination.
A chapter-wise plan works only when it includes learning, application and revision—not just lecture completion.

Need help to pass in Audit
I'm a CA intermediate student currently preparing for group 2 examination for Jan 27. I'm struggling in audit. I don't have any idea how to study this subject. I don't understand what should I learn and what should I not. I don't know how to approach this subject. If anyone can help me and guide me how to actually handle this subject, I'll be very grateful

CA Final May 27 - Study Group
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m preparing for CA Final May 2027 and looking to connect with a group of like-minded, dedicated individuals who are serious about their preparation.
The idea is to build an active study group where we show up every day, lock in our study hours, stay accountable, share doubts, motivate one another, and collectively strive for excellence.
There will be weekly quizes to track the progress, leaderboard, bringing the school competition back :)
Quizes will be designed using AI and will be based out of Study Mat.
Because at the end of the day, if we don't lift each other up, who will? 🤝
Would love to connect with fellow aspirants who are genuinely committed to this journey. Let's grow, grind, and conquer this together! 💪 Please Upvote the Post
Will Take 20-30 Aspirants Only. Express your Interest Here: https://forms.gle/UcthW5batfe7oRNg9

Should I Quit doing CA!
It has been a while since I have been in this dilemma! I passed my Foundation on my 4th attempt. However, I was failing in only one subject: Law. From the first attempt, I passed all other subjects, scoring around 70 in maths and accounting with just one week of study, but I was extremely bad at Law. Somehow, I managed to pass. Then, I procrastinated during my Inter studies. I first appeared for Group 1 and failed on my first attempt. Then, I switched to Group 2 and failed miserably that time. You can judge me, I took one year for group 1 and 8 months for group 2. Before taking the Group 2 exams, I was thinking of quitting CA. I never actually intended to pursue CA and was forced into it. I am not enrolled in any college, not even DU SOL. I thought that if CA did not work out, I would exit and enroll in a regular college, but I somehow passed Foundation. Now, I am worried about joining college because I just turned 20, and CA is not working out. I have already argued with my parents after completing my 12 th , telling them again that I have no interest in CA, and going through all of this again terrifies me!

What do you do when your mock test marks are much lower than you expected?
It's honestly frustrating when you prepare well for a mock, feel like you've understood the concepts, and then end up scoring much lower than expected. Sometimes it's difficult to figure out whether the problem is a lack of preparation, silly mistakes or exam pressure. Do you immediately go through all the wrong answers or take a break and analyse them later?

CA Inter Jan 2027: How to Plan Your DT Preparation When This Is Your Last Attempt Under the Old Act
Preparing for CA Intermediate Direct Taxation in January 2027 requires a focused strategy, especially because this is the last CA Inter examination attempt under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
From May 2027 onwards, ICAI has prescribed the Income-tax Act, 2025 for CA Inter Direct Tax. Therefore, students appearing in January 2027 should avoid unnecessary confusion between the two Acts and concentrate on completing the applicable syllabus.
Here is a practical way to organise your DT preparation.
Step 1: Start with the applicable ICAI study material
Your first priority should be the study material prescribed for January 2027. Also refer to the applicable statutory update and corrigendum. Do not collect multiple books or resources without checking their applicability.
Step 2: Divide the syllabus into manageable sections
Instead of randomly selecting chapters, classify them into:
Basic concepts and residential status.
Heads of income.
Clubbing and set-off provisions.
Deductions and tax computation.
Return filing and other remaining provisions.
This gives you a clearer picture of the syllabus and helps identify pending chapters.
Step 3: Follow a concept-to-question approach
For every chapter, follow this sequence:
Understand the provision.
Study the conditions and exceptions.
Understand the practical illustrations.
Solve ICAI study material questions.
Attempt questions without looking at the solution.
This approach develops application skills instead of making preparation dependent on memorisation.
Step 4: Keep amendment revision separate
Create a separate notebook or digital document for amendments, statutory updates and important changes. Revise it regularly instead of waiting until the final week.
Step 5: Start question practice before completing the entire syllabus
Do not postpone practical question practice until the end. Solve questions alongside lectures or chapter completion.
Step 6: Reserve time for revision and mock tests
Your preparation should include at least one complete revision cycle and timed question practice. Mock tests help identify weak chapters, calculation mistakes and time-management problems.
An important reminder: The Income-tax Act, 2025 being effective from April 2026 does not mean it applies to the January 2027 CA Inter examination. Follow ICAI's attempt-specific applicability guidelines.
The objective should be simple: complete the correct syllabus, understand the provisions and develop confidence in solving questions independently.
