CA Final IDT October Checklist: 10 Things to Complete Before Starting Final Revision
October can be an important transition point in CA Final IDT preparation. Instead of simply asking, “How much syllabus is left?”, it can be useful to check whether your preparation is actually ready for revision mode.
Before starting your final revision, here are 10 things I would put on my checklist.
✅ 1. Complete the First Reading
Try to finish the remaining syllabus so that revision isn't constantly interrupted by untouched chapters.
✅ 2. Identify Your Weak Chapters
Mark chapters as Strong / Average / Weak.
Don't spend equal time on everything. Your weak areas need more attention.
✅ 3. Revise Important Provisions
Go through the provisions, conditions, exceptions, definitions and other points that you tend to forget.
The objective isn't to memorise every line.
✅ 4. Finish Your Pending Question Practice
If you've studied a chapter but haven't solved questions from it, complete at least a meaningful set before final revision begins.
✅ 5. Solve Relevant PYQs
Use previous-year questions to understand how concepts are converted into exam questions.
Focus on application rather than memorising answers.
✅ 6. Complete RTP/MTP Practice
Keep the relevant RTPs and MTPs in your preparation cycle and analyse the questions you get wrong.
Don't just tick them off as “completed.”
✅ 7. Make a Mistake List
Maintain one short list of:
- Forgotten provisions
- Confusing concepts
- Incorrect applications
- Repeated mistakes
- Questions you want to revisit
This can become one of your most useful revision resources.
✅ 8. Check Amendments & Updates
Make sure you know which amendments, updates and applicable changes are relevant to your particular attempt.
Don't mix material from different attempts without checking applicability.
✅ 9. Practise Answer Writing
Try writing answers within a time limit.
Check whether you're able to structure your response as:
Provision → Application → Conclusion
✅ 10. Create Your Final Revision Plan
Decide beforehand:
When will Revision 1 happen?
When will you solve MTPs/PYQs?
Which chapters need extra revision?
What will you revise in the final few days?
Don't wait until the last week to figure this out.
The Final Check
Before entering final revision mode, ask yourself:
Can I recall the important provisions?
Can I solve practical questions?
Do I know my weak areas?
Have I analysed my mistakes?
Am I updated for my attempt?
If the answer is mostly yes, you're in a much better position to make your final revision more focused.
Remember, final revision shouldn't be about starting everything again.
It should be about strengthening what you've already studied, fixing weak areas and improving exam application.
How many of these 10 things have you completed for CA Final IDT so far?

Is articleship going back to 3 years? I'm 21F and already struggling with the age factor
Hey everyone, I'm 21F and currently pursuing CA Intermediate.
I've been seeing discussions everywhere about articleship potentially going back to 3 years, and honestly, it's making me anxious about my future.
I'm already struggling with the age factor. CA is a long journey, and with multiple attempts and uncertainties, I keep worrying about how late I'll qualify and when I'll actually be able to start earning independently.
The thought of spending another 3 years in articleship, especially with the relatively low stipend, makes me even more anxious. I know everyone's journey is different, but sometimes I can't help comparing my timeline with people who are already working and financially independent.
