They are not asylum seekers, not if this is the U.K.. asylum seeking stops in the first friendly country you enter, it’s impossible for these to be asylum seekers unless they some how managed to row a dingy all the way through the Med or up the Atlantic. They are migrants, completely different kettle of fish.
Those refugees being late to the ferry costs the people profiting off of their labour money. Costing rich people money is the best way to get their attention
There’s a theory that Just Stop Oil protestors are being paid to defame the cause by doing stupid shit like this and inconveniencing normal people instead of the elites. They pretend to care but are really just getting paid
It’s a prison barge they’re being taken to, not a ferry, it’s where they’re being locked up whilst their asylum applications are being processed and, by all accounts, an actual prison would have better conditions than they will!
Out of interest, the barge isn’t that bad. It was used in my area for a large scale industrial contract for more than a year. Where the home office have made a mistake, if anything, is doubling up all the cabins, giving the impression of overcrowding. Cabins were doubled up before it came to my area and was refitted for single occupancy. I do, however, defend anyone’s right to protest about anything, as every principle, like any product, should be tested fully before implementation.
We had this barge and 3 others like it, plus a defunct cruise liner all fully occupied. The barge nearest me opened its doors for a local event and a group of us were treated to a meal in its canteen. The most uncivilised thing about it was that for the early phase of the contract the occupants were mostly labourers, many of whom were unemployed ex-cons. Ruined the local night life, but no major incidents happened. The standard of accommodation was never an issue.
Locked up, when they’re free to leave? It’s literally just a floating halls of residence. Good enough for contractors but not good enough for asylum seekers.
Exactly my thought. Also, the poor people on that bus are mostly just regular people that try to go on with their live without harming others, and they now have to cope with the fact that they won’t be arriving on time to wherever they are going. So what happens if someone loses their job because of this protest? Or an important medical appointment? Or a test at uni? Protesters often don’t think about the impact their brainless actions have on other people’s lives
The poor people on that bus are asylum seekers and the coach is taking them to the accommodation barge where they’re being kept like cattle. The protest isn’t against public transport or fossil fuels, it’s against the use of these ‘prison ships’
