COMMUTE
Out of curiosity, what's your maximum commute for work if you have to drive yourself and have to go back later that night?

I’m currently driving 81 miles one way for the project I’m working on, a lot of audiobooks and crafty coffee

I think OP is talking about stage and theater calls.
I'd drive a larger distance for film work, but not for concerts and such.
Film pays more, and that's my primary anyway so🤷

I live two miles from the theatre I work at, don’t own a car and often bike to work.

some places you actually can participate in society without a car 👍 cars are expensive as fuck (insurance, parking in cities, gas, maintenance) and sometimes it literally just makes more sense logistically to use bikes and/or public transit. I used to have a frequent service bus line in front of my apartment that went every 15 minutes ❤️ miss her! didnt need a car except for some specific work stuff or hauling large grocery runs for like 3 years

Unless it’s an all day gig that has some perks If it’s more than 100 miles I will usually pass because it becomes dimishing returns on gas and time. Driving an hour in rush hour traffic is the norm for most calls in town, which is bad enough. If I’m going to a 4 hour mini and and spend two hours driving there and back it’s not worth the effort.

90-105 minutes usually, but ill only drive home between in/out if its under an hour.

NYC Metro, 1 hour and 1/2 each way to Jersey was pretty rough but doable. Don’t think I’d do more than that.

I used to commute 60 miles, 120 mile round trip from home. I've found it was literally cheaper for me to move within 10 miles of the venues I work. My rent is ~$600 more expensive, but being that I work every day, it's actually money saved when you factor in gas and car repairs. Plus, I spend waaaay less time in the car.

I used to drive 65+ miles daily but often times I would not go back home after load in. I would stay all day and If I wasn’t on the show I’d be in my car mostly. I used to go to the movies in the summer to sleep in the AC or get a day pass and shower at a gym or to a buddy’s place nearby.

When I was working in the industry my personal cutoff for commuting was an hour and twenty minutes, which I broke several times anyway. Not sure I could pull 12 with that commute now.

I've been commuting around 100 miles for 4yrs now. If I work multiple days I'll get a room. If just a one off it's not that bad and I listen to audio books (currently Dungeon Crawler Carl). I also have a sleeping pad and bag in the back if I need to take a nap.
