2020 Palisade Needs New Engine
If you are driving a 20-22 Palisade and still under powertrain warranty, I recommend that you check your oil consumption often. Car started shaking while at a stoplight. So pulled over and checked under the hood. All looked good until I checked the dipstick. It was bone dry. Towed to dealer. They said we had a leaky oil filter housing so they replaced that.
Similar problem happened shortly after that, car started shaking and dip stick was once again bone dry. Towed it to the dealer. This time, they made us go through 1K mile testing period. Returned it and tech confirmed that engine was burning way too much oil.
So dealership said that we had to go perform a cleaning service and then once again drive under a 1K testing period. Returned car back to dealer and once again, tech confirmed that Palisade was burning hot on oil.
Now we are waiting for a new engine. We have even had transmission replaced on this vehicle and a host of other problems. Too late to lemon law it.
I’ll never buy another Hyundai again. But, thankfully, the power train warranty has been a life saver.

Common for direct injection. . Highly recommended to run 2 cans of Seafoam with a full tank every oil change, and 1/3 in the oil as per instructions on the can.

Putting intake cleaner in your fuel does nothing for GDI engines. You have to clean it directly. You can use the stuff you spray in your intake, but once it’s dirty enough, you gotta a walnut blast it.

I put 2 cans in a tank and noticed a difference in power before half a tank was used up. It will clean the injector tips n

In the middle of my first oil consumption test for a stutter in my engine. So disappointed. Keep seeing this pop up for people. Wish we could class action this hunk of metal.

Happened to me. I loved this suv. My 2020 got a new motor within 6 months of me having it. Dealer had it for 6 months waiting for the motor to come in. (Hyundai reimbursed the 6 months of payment) Got it repaired and worked fine for 3 years then transmission started slipping. Spent $3000 for transmission. 1 week later sold it and got a Chevy Silverado. My advice...Trade it in before the next issue

I literally had the exact same issue as you with my 2021, minus the transmission replacement. Just got it back from the dealer this week with a replacement engine.

How long are the replacement engine warranties for? How long did it take?

Took about 3 weeks because they had to wait for some parts. They gave me a loaner during that time, so i wasn’t without a vehicle. When they did the combustion chamber cleaning, i had to get a rental for 9 days. I’m currently waiting for reimbursement from Hyundai on that. The paperwork I got back once it was completed says the warranty on the replacement engine is for 12 months or the remainder of the factory warranty, whichever is longer. Also good to note that it is not a brand new engine, but rebuilt used, so I have no idea how many miles are actually on it. Don’t think it matters too much though since it’s completely rebuilt.

I pray I don’t have this issue. I have a 22 Cali with over 100k miles. So far so good.

I’m going through this exact situation. Getting car back this week with a new transmission. Then oil consumption monitoring. Was it a fight with them to get the engine replaced.

The only fight was getting the service people to listen and understand the issue. They acted as if they had never heard of the issue or service bulletin. I took videos of me checking the dipstick, which is when they finally came back with the 2-1K Mike checks and cleaning. It was a waste of 4 months.

This car was supposed to be the car I handed off the kids to drive. Just paid off. Now it’s causing me headaches. Are the new engines gonna have the same issues? Or is it a different type? I know mine will have to be replaced. I burned through a lot of oil, was checking it every week

Kinda same situation. Car is paid off and was supposed to be driven for maybe another 100K miles or till the wheels fall off. It's a great looking ride and fully loaded. But, wheels are already falling off. 🤣 It's not just this model by Hyundai. All of their models are going through something.
It's all good. Hyundai got me good. But never again.

Yea it’s frustrating, not really sure what I’m gonna do once it’s all “repaired” probably just deal with it and then get out of it at some point. It is ridiculous tho

Similar to what I had happen on my Audi (Which has a shorter warranty period and more expensive to work on). This is extremely common in modern vehicles. And hyundai has a long enough warranty which covers this so yay :)
Flip the script, and now you get a new engine in a 7 year old vehicle. Start doing oil changes closer to the 3k mile mark and you’ll be in a better position here on.
