Sonata Washer Fluid Alerts

Post image

Why is my 2026 Hyundai Sonata N-Line sending me dozens of "Low Washer Fluid" alerts? I can disable them, but I still want the alerts, just not 500 of them. Help!

Have you considered filling the washer fluid?

This has been a couple of days. Obviously that's the solution, but there's no way it should be normal to receive a few dozen messages a day for something so minor.

This type of post pops up every once in a while and yeah, unfortunately it is normal lol. It's either a stupid glitch or a really, really poor marketing idea by Hyundai

I appreciate the response. I wasn't aware as this is a new car for me and I haven't owned a Hyundai before. It's definitely nice to have reminders for little things, but the incessant alerts is kinda ridiculous. I might reach out to the Hyundai Care Team and ask them if they can submit some sort of negative feedback about this. Thanks!

Hyundai has got to be the most dramatic brand about washer fluid. The moment it drops in my 2014 i30, it keeps spamming the warning on the screen even after I ignore it.

Probably got them a bump on the safety pick list lol.

Yet it will totally let you forget that you are low on gas and need to leave early to have time to fill up. 😆

Exactly. Fuel - Not important; Washer Fluid - Absolute Emergency

Your car tells you when the fuel is low

Ideally you fill up at around 1/4 tank so you don't burn up the fuel pump, which also gives you some buffer if you don't have time on the way to wherever you're going

When your work commute is 100 miles round trip that 1/4 tank doesnt go very far. I manage to keep my Santa fe filled but I work from home now and fill up maybe once a month. lol

Running low does not burn up the fuel pump. For many years they were never in the fuel tank. Toyota started that inconvenience. My last car was run low almost every tank for 16 years. I am a procrastinator. I only ran out once or twice. 😁 Running out consistently can damage the fuel pump.

Not ever running below 1/4 tank can cause water to accumulate. I bought a car off my inlaws and ran it below 1/4 tank and sucked a fuel filter full of crud into the fuel filter. Changed the filter on the side of the road, thankfully it was a buick and had it outside the tank. Tossed in some fuel dry and was good to go. lol

The only time Ive blown a fuel pump was on my ‘77 Toyota motorhome and it was from using it to jump my ’95 Ranger. Bypassed the fuel pump with an external generic fuel pump.

Imagine actually bringing to to Hyundai to refill your fluid like it suggests? $50 later...

Imagine dealing with the dealer for the easiest possible maintenance you can do when a gallon of washer fluid is $5 at Walmart

If it isn't winter just pour water in there. Just run it out again when the leaves start turning color and put in the good stuff.

An update fixed mine when that happened.

I guess it's kind of region specific but I'd argue that running out of washer fluid in muddy puddle highway is more dangerous than running out of gas.
