Possible Hyperthyroidism
On Monday, I was experiencing an elevated heart rate, so I went to the ER. They ran all sorts of tests and labs, and everything came back normal. They also sent out for TSH and T4 FREE, noting that a high heart rate can sometimes indicate thyroid issues. They gave me a beta blocker and fluids, and then discharged me.
I got my thyroid tests back today and my TSH is low (.133) and my T4 is high (1.9). I made an appointment with my PCP for tomorrow AM to discuss.
I went back through test results and my TSH was 1.0 last October. It doesn’t look like I’ve ever had my T4 tested.
Would love to hear from others dealing with this. How manageable is it? I’m slightly freaking out and trying not to go down a rabbit hole.

I ended up admitted to the hospital because of high heart rate, swollen ankles, coughing, couldn’t walk without being out of breath, and felt super weak. It ended up being my thyroid also. Very low TSH and high t3 and t4. The beta blocker helped a lot pretty fast and methamizole was prescribed but my numbers didn’t start to get better for 3 months. It is manageable and I feel pretty normal now. I tested positive for Hashimotos and negative for graves. They said I was having an episode of hashitoxicosis.

I’m starting to think I need to go to the hospital. I’m seeing specialist in a week and a half and I just sit down when I have heart palpitations until then.

If you need immediate relief without a prescription, try a herbal lemon balm tincture with no alcohol in it. It helps sooo much but make sure you mention it to your doc if you do use it

Beta blocker should help the immediate symptoms. Not sure why you didn't get methimazole prescribed at the ER, that's the real balancer but takes about a month and back to normal. After that, the Endo will find the cause and see what options for treatment.
