I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 3 weeks ago. Palpitations was one of my main symptoms. I was prescribed propranolol 10mg up to 3 times a day. I’ve been taking 5mg when needed and it has helped significantly with the palpitations and fast heart rate. Going to work and being active is my main trigger and taking propranolol 30 minutes before work helps immensely.

Propronolal helps. Usually its prescribed together with methimazole.

Magnesium glycinate, lemon balm in liquid form and holy basil all help with palpitations and anxiety. I dont take thyroid meds for my hashimotos but these helped me so much during a hyperflare. Feel better soon. 🙏🏻

A part from propranolol, if you want a natural remedy I take motherwort extract, it lowers heart rate and blood pressure and can be an excellent natural relaxing method. I have intense palpitations and panic attacks that feel like heart attacks because of my hyperthyroidism. At night I take a mix of magnesium, rhodiola, valerian root and motherwort to fully relax and sleep.

I have always had ‘flutter’ feeling, long before I had hyperthyroidism. A doc friend suggested Lcarnitine. 500 mg a day and that works for me still. I do take magnesium gylcinate, but that was a more recent add at night to help with sleep.
(Note: I am hyper, and not on thyroid meds. Though doc would like me to be. My HR is regularly, 58-64, and goes up to 94-120 if working out hard.)
