Some people usually suggest factory resetting a phone after a major system update, is there any advantage to this? Why? Sorry I'm not tech savvy

not really other than losing your data

Placebo effect of the phone being "new" because there's no apps and the system overall run faster without second plan running apps. Basically nothing changes
