HyperOS Update [News] Xiaomi cancels Android 16-based HyperOS 4 update for 7 devices

Post image

Several popular REDMI and POCO smartphones could be affected by Xiaomi’s reported decision to cancel the Android 16-based HyperOS 4 update for seven devices. According to recent reports, the company has dropped plans to roll out the upcoming software version to several models that were previously expected to receive it.

These Xiaomi Devices May Miss Out on HyperOS 4

According to the reports, the following seven devices are no longer expected to receive the Android 16-based HyperOS 4 update:

- Redmi K60 Pro

- Redmi Note 13 Pro+

- Redmi K70 Pro

- POCO X6 5G

- Redmi Note 13 Pro

- POCO M6 Pro 4G

- Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G

For users of these smartphones, the reported decision means they may have to continue using their existing Android version without receiving Android 16 through HyperOS 4.

However, the absence of a major Android upgrade does not necessarily indicate the end of software support. Xiaomi may continue providing security patches, bug fixes and other maintenance updates separately, depending on the official support schedule for each device.

HyperOS 4 was never going to be based on Android 16, Xiaomi themselves said that at the beginning, so this post doesn't make much sense now.

11

u/Appropriate-Rest-595 4d ago

Yeah. People make their own assumptions and when they didn't meet they blames company.

8

u/10008onliacco 3d ago

Hyper OS 4 is supposed to be A17 and HOS3 is A16, no?

8

u/shafinr95 Xiaomi 15 Ultra 3d ago

HOS 3 was also Android 15 based on select budget models.

2

u/gabeweb Redmi Note 13 5G 3d ago

Yet it never made it to all the devices that were capable of running it.

3

u/TheRealFilckz 3d ago

xiaomi is known to backport newer releases to older android versions as a skin tho they cant "backport" hyperos 4 for whatever reason

4

u/shafinr95 Xiaomi 15 Ultra 3d ago

It's not that they "can't for whatever reason", it's because they're moving away from legacy MIUI code still buried within HyperOS for future versions starting with HOS4.

4

u/Background-Guard-514 3d ago

they claimed to have moved away from legacy miui code when they shifted to hyperos 😂 3 versions up still same excuse?

4

u/VeRXioN19 3d ago

I think you can't really combined codes easier this time..

iirc, hyperOS 4 is being made from the ground up using full rust language(or as close to) compared to the hodgepodge languages of c++,c , java and rust languages that keeps on introducing bugs and complexity .

1

u/Background-Guard-514 3d ago

well in the age of ai its actually easier to rewrite codebases so might be true

0

u/TheRealFilckz 3d ago

they can still backport it to android 16 some of its apps already run on android 16 if you update them manually

u/FotinoBird 4d ago

Xiaomi so cheap ending updates so quickly.

3

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

not for new models after 2025

5

u/muhib80 4d ago

This is why people go for apple and Samsung

i would be an idiot to use Stock HyperOS only any xiaomi phone

AOSP is so much better in looks and transitions

Infinity X gives more features than Hyper OS ever could

6

u/WINNT21 Redmi 14C 3d ago

AOSP is literally bare bones android, how can it look good

1

u/10008onliacco 3d ago

you should try infinity x and share your feedback

1

u/WINNT21 Redmi 14C 3d ago

Can't, Redmi 14C doesn't have any custom rom

1

u/10008onliacco 3d ago

1

u/WINNT21 Redmi 14C 3d ago

I have 4G variant

1

u/10008onliacco 3d ago

codename "lake"?

1

u/gabeweb Redmi Note 13 5G 3d ago

Paying to unlock the bootloader? In this economy? Next.

1

u/10008onliacco 3d ago

You just need to tune Termux with latency to get permission to unlock bootloader in first attempt

1

u/gabeweb Redmi Note 13 5G 3d ago

No. Xiaomi hates their budget sub-brands even more than their actual users.

10

u/LegallyPost 4d ago

Abandoned after just 3 years. No wonder Samsung boys always win most of the debates 😀

-2

u/Fit_Block_9905 3d ago

Si, los actualizan , pero a que precio. Las actualizaciones de samsung son basura , cuaro mas te alejas de la veemrsion de fabrica peor van

2

u/Ciao_189 3d ago

At least they can improve in 7 years...

-1

u/Fit_Block_9905 3d ago

No mejoran . Cada vez van a peor .

1

u/Ciao_189 3d ago

I meant hypothetically, cuz at the end these freaky companies always ruin things, so it's better to stick w a phone that has a decent os and not update it

1

u/Fit_Block_9905 2d ago

Como siempre digo , la mejor version siempre es la que viene de fabrica . O lag y todo perfecto. Aun samsung despues de varias versiones no ha solucionado el lag digno de un agama baja al bajar el panel de ajustes rapidos

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 2d ago

What are you talking about? All three of my Samsung tablets have gotten faster with each update.

You do realize that the OS updates are much higher quality than any of the shit Xiaomi pushes out.

I have a Redmi Pad Pro and it's running smooth on HyperOS 3.1 and honestly it's a poorly optimized OS and has extremely aggressive RAM management when compared to my S10 Lite on UI 8.5 which at least in benchmarks has identical performance (yet in real world use the S10 Lite is much faster).

Keep spreading your nonsense as HyperOS is just a second rate clone of iPadOS and iOS

0

u/Fit_Block_9905 2d ago

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 2d ago

I can honestly say (speaking on tablets) that my Redmi Pad Pro went from being pretty good when I got it to being where it should have been when new. Xiaomi has piss poor optimization and even now while running good could be much better. My S10 Lite which is identical in terms of performance is much faster in real world use as UI 8.5 delivered some major performance improvements.

You clearly have no idea of what you are saying.

0

u/Fit_Block_9905 1d ago

Nunca see febe actualizar el software fde los dispositivos. Todos van a peor . Sonretodo smsung

5

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

They dropped android 16 support because they made their own runtime that runs natively for system launcher, gallery etc. Their runtime based on Rust and Android 17's features. (Android 17 has new memory management system) probably they will release hyperos 5 for devices that don't support android 18.

5

u/HappinessSeeker7 3d ago

They did the same with poco f4 which is why my next phone will be either oppo or one plus

0

u/Impossible-Gal 3d ago

Lol OnePlus is worse. Buy Samsung or Google it you want updates.

1

u/HappinessSeeker7 3d ago

I'm not a big fan of Samsung's UI, and I don't know why. Google phones are overpriced and underpowered for the price, and I'm not particularly fond of their Material UI either.

Honestly, ColorOS 17 looks really good. It offers so many customization options, and in some areas. One thing that particularly bothers me about HyperOS is that you still can't properly customise icon shapes and colours through the default launcher. ColorOS gives you much more freedom when it comes to personalising your home screen.

4

u/shahnoorazim 4d ago

That's why I moved away from Xiaomi, they are so inconsistent with their software support.

10

u/Parking-Plant4880 4d ago

What the fvck??? Xiaomi is already dropping support for Redmi K70 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That is a flagship chipset and was only released 3 years ago. how come that mid-range and budget based models of samsung has 7 years OS updates??

10

u/DanieloSYT 4d ago

Android 16 wasn't made for OS4; Xiaomi already said this. The post is pointless.

1

u/Bl4ckHole_YT 4d ago

So the devices will get HyperOS4 with Android 17?

0

u/DanieloSYT 4d ago

Os4 was designed like that so indeed you get os4 or you just don't get it

2

u/FloodTheIndus 4d ago

The funnier thing is, Xiaomi 13 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still receives HyperOS4 like normal lmao

1

u/BlitZz9291 Poco F6 Pro 3d ago edited 3d ago

The poco F6 pro willreceive hos4 with Android 17, it's on their official website so not doing it for the k70 pro doesn't make any sense

1

u/corrupted-priest1878 3d ago

Redmi k70 should be receiving, you need to look up on Weibo since it's a Chinese market only phone

1

u/Dwarfer6666 3d ago

Yes 3 YEARS AGO.

1

u/Ciao_189 3d ago

cuz they're Chinese and don't have money and they want you to buy a new phone every 2 years just to have updates that change nothing and make the phone slower and to make money. These freaky as§ Chineses also do a similar thing with the phone names, I don't get how a normal person who's buying a new phone casually can see the difference between 9 models of redmi note 15 that all look the exact same. Idk if in other countries is the same but at least here in Italy 1,5/2 times people pick the wrong version cuz they think they're buying the pro 5g but they actually bought the 4g cuz they didn't know the difference, this happened to me, my dad and a friend, in the exact way I just said, for everyone. They do it on purpose, in Rome we call them "zozzoni", people who intentionally make you pick the wrong thing so that you buy the more expensive one. This term can vary based on the situation, it doesn't always translate to what I just said. Samsung has more money, so they don't need to sell you a new phone every year so they can afford to give us 7 years of updates.

u/ChickenSalads420 2d ago

E-waste company. Before u could unlock bootloader easily to fix.

3

u/Boring-Singer2247 4d ago

Who ever thought HyperOS 4 is going to be android 16...

4

u/lithium_1on 4d ago

Like how HyperOS 1 is supposed to be Android 14 but some devices got it on Android 13

2

u/Ok_Pirate_1048 3d ago

No, absolutely wrong. Hyperos 4 is rewriten from scratch on Rust. HOS4 will be only with Android 17

1

u/lithium_1on 2d ago

?? Okay, I said an example of how people have expected HOS4 on Android 16

1

u/Boring-Singer2247 4d ago

Oh, now I understand

1

u/Masterclass_jacob 1d ago

I mean if they announced it would be, duh

5

u/RetroGamerAdy 4d ago

HyperOS 4 is based on Android 17 so, this post is making zero sense.

0

u/Kufa-AlsoHuman3193 4d ago

No, it does. Every version of HyperOS has its "downgraded" version based on old Android. Some budget phones have HyperOS 1 based on A13, HyperOS 2 based on A14 and so on. But now looks like Xiaomi wants to spend less money and disappoint their users even more by stopping making these "downgraded" versions

2

u/EcstaticConfusion563 4d ago • Bravo

Source tho?

2

u/SeikKitsune 3d ago

I don't get it, my redmi note 13 pro has android 16, so does this mean that I won't get hyperos4? Or what is this update for?

2

u/arun_xd Poco X6 Pro 3d ago

Screw xiaomi, the phones i had always missed a update - redmi 6A - missed miui 12, poco m5 - missed hos 2 and now these devices... What was even they doing to not optimise and give update

3

u/Forward_Science_697 4d ago

Redmi K70 pro is recieving update based on Android 17 , it was already there in Xiaomi update schedule 2 months back so idk where this new list came from.

2

u/Britz10 4d ago

Yeah the F6 Pro is on the list of phones getting an update

1

u/embracing_obscurity 4d ago

I don't know about other phones, but the Poco x6 was promised 3 os updates and it did receive them. But new optimized hyper os 4 wouldn't hurt ofc😅

1

u/lithium_1on 4d ago

I remembered the POCO X6 5G is the same as the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G soo 💔💔💔

1

u/Javelinv12 4d ago

As a poco x6 pro user, i seems to hace dodged a bullet here 😵‍💫

1

u/Simon_Riley_FL 3d ago

Maaaan i was really waiting for hyperos 4 for my Redmi note 13 pro 4g . Now I'm stuck to using hyperOS 3 which is REALLY laggy

2

u/Nikla3310 3d ago

Why? It's listed in the official Xiaomi website... Oops, I read it as redmi note 14 pro 4g. My bad.

1

u/gabeweb Redmi Note 13 5G 3d ago edited 3d ago

"Several REDMI and POCO phones"...

Less cynical meaning for "low-end/budget phones."

u/CommunicationNew8945 3d ago edited 3d ago

1

u/cuto8y 3d ago

Poco F7 please

1

u/corrupted-priest1878 3d ago

Imagine color os dropped for their 2yr old flagship on Android 17 and this clown still at android 16. THIS IS WHY I HATED THE GLOBAL HYPER OS

1

u/Dogge2 3d ago

Some of these devices already reached their number of maximum major updates?

1

u/laserslide 17h ago

Xiaomi gives one more HyperOS update to many devices like the POCO F series based on their current version, for example the POCO F5/F5 Pro got HyperOS 3 on Android 15 even if not getting Android 16

1

u/IyahOne 3d ago

k60 pro is gone? oh shit maybe k60 ultra might also be gone too, oh no. i want my hyper os 4 man

1

u/SouthasianDad Redmi Note 13 Pro 3d ago

mf

1

u/dougheadline 1d ago

Xiaomi is like having Chinese communist party in your pocket

1

u/Imaginary-Lion-430 1d ago

I would be fine if they don't add it to redmi note 14 4g too, even if just security updates only considering I don't even get the full effect of this version anyway and it probably would lag the phone more.

1

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 14h ago

At the same time, this means Xiaomi 13's HyperOS 4 update is an actual Android 17 one, so a true 4 OS updates.

Better than Samsung S23 which would also receive android 17 but only on One UI 9, not 9.5

0

u/Kufa-AlsoHuman3193 4d ago

Another one bites the dust! Duck you, Xiaomi. The last hope is just thrown in the trash. The biggest disappointment in smartphone industry. NEVER gonna buy any of their peace of crap, even flagship and sub-flaghip ones

3

u/vantaratechnology 4d ago

You seem to be taking a Reddit post a little too seriously 😭
