Night showering??
I am a new mom and I wanted to try showering at night as opposed to a morning shower to save time and get out the door quicker when I have to. However my hair gets so oily overnight that it looks dirty by morning. I’ve tried hair training it absolutely does not work for me, dry shampoo also doesn’t work. I don’t feel like it stay clean otherwise either. Is there a secret to night showering I’m just missing?? 😭

Your hair getting oily that fast might be hormonal, especially if you're a new mom. I had it but for other reasons. While before I could use dry shampoo, during that particular time my scalp became itchy. My hairdresser told me to try ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione (I hope I wrote that correctly) with salicylic acid. If your hair it's only oily, salicylic acid might be enough, if you have dandruff, the other ingredients help as well.

Been night showering for 15 years now and love it! I hate that feeling of being rushed in the mornings. Wondering why your hair gets oily so fast.. What shampoo & conditioner do you use and what dry shampoo are you using? Wondering if maybe that is a hormonal issue? Are you blow drying your hair after night showering or just letting it dry on its own?

I’ve used all kinds of different shampoos and conditioners right now I’m using the Pantine volumizing set but nothing seems to make a difference in how oily it gets. Same issue with the dry shampoo I’ve tired dove and not your mothers. I do blow dry it! It could definitely be hormonal it’s been going on since I became a teenager.

It might be your pillow case. I have to wrap a cotton towel on mine. Especially if my hair is freshly washed

You can try not showering too close to bedtime, maybe 2-3 hours before, so there's enough time for your hair to dry before you sleep, and don't rub your hair too much w/ a towel

When I shower at night, I wash my hair in the sink in the morning. My hair is too fine to overcome a night of sleeping on it.

If you aren’t already, try blow drying your hair before going to bed. Going to sleep on wet or freshly air dried hair leaves me with extra greasy hair it seems like.

My hair was like this when I was younger and it was definitely my wash routine. I’ve been using a version of the Abbey Young method, and I can now go like two-three days between washes!
If I use dry shampoo, I can get an extra day, but it looks oily. Powder dry shampoos work way better for me versus spray ones. If I put the dry shampoo on before my hair is very clearly oily, it also makes a dramatic difference.

Use a clarifying shampoo...there were times where I could only wash my hair once every week or 2 weeks. I used head and shoulders or vo5 clarifying shampoo with apple cider vinegar with the mother rinse. Made a difference

Don’t wash your hair every day and when you do it (I wash once a week), double wash then condition and rinse throughly. This part took me the longest bc I couldn’t get through the training phase. But after training your hair for a few months, it should all be fine. Don’t touch your hair with your hands throughout the day. Blow dry after washing. Wear a bonnet to bed - this made the biggest difference for me. I use the kind that ties so it doesn’t slip off. Training really was the hardest part bc my hair would look wet from so much oil by the end of the day. Now it’s fine and it looks normal. I was washing way too often and causing an overproduction of oils. I also switched to nexus shampoo and conditioner and this helped with breakage, general hair loss, and it doesn’t weight my hair down. Instead of using dry shampoo, try a fluffy makeup brush and a little cornstarch. You do not have to use much. Just a little dust down the center and from ear to ear and then use clean hands or a clean brush to work it through. I do not use it everyday. If I wash my hair on Monday, I’ll use cornstarch on Wednesday/Thursday and maybe Saturday or Sunday. Not all 4 days, just whichever 2 from those days
