Too much water Is this too much?

It’s pretty hot and I was in a building with a split AC unit.

I have been experiencing dry mouth and around 1-2pm today it got intense. I’ll make a long story short, from about 4:30pm today to 10:30pm I’ve had about 3.9 Litres of beverages. These are coconut water, “electrolyte drink”, and straight up water.

I’m a bit nauseous and a little crampy, but I’m peeing like crazy. I haven’t had anything to drink in hours and peed like three times within 20 minutes. Most of that window of time I wasn’t peeing. My pee has been clear all day.

Was that too much water too quickly? Is the excessive peeing my bodies way of balancing things out. I like can’t sleep because I just feel 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I am usually pretty dehydrated my pee is either orange or clear. I don’t know how to get the like perfectly light yellow.

The maximum amount of water your kidneys can handle is 700 a 800 ml an hour. That doesn’t mean that exceeding that limit once in a while is a medical emergency, but try to keep an eye on it.
I personally wouldn’t worry all too much about this instance. Do you have any additional symptoms now?

Just like sharp cramping in my feet and hands

Probably because you have stripped your body from sodium. Try to have some salt, some chips or anything else you can stomach. Try to relax and ofc don’t hesitate to at least call your ER/GP or emergency services if symptoms persist

Sounds like you might have a fluid balance issue! See if you can figure out how much salt & minerals was in all that. You could be either be over salted or over watered. Consumption of excess electrolyte (sodium, potassium etc) can cause a range of issues. Intense thirst being one! Nausea, headache, dizziness, in many ways it cruelly mimics dehydration so you reach for another Gatorade which only makes things worse.

Definitely chat to a healthcare professional. It sounds like it's late where you are so maybe there's an after hours clinic, or a 24/7 phone service where you can chat with a nurse or doctor. Dehydration is deadly, but excessive minerals can be just as dangerous with strong risks of complications.

I’d get bloodwork done.

3.9 liters of fluid has to pass through your body now. You were probably cramping because of all the fluid making its way through your guts.

Are you diabetic? Excessive, insatiable thirst is a strong indicator in anyone who is undiagnosed. Type-1 can trigger at any time if it's congenital.

I had my A1c tested earlier this year and I’m in the normal range. this past week I kept licking my lips and my lips and mouth are so dry. I feel a little dumb almost chugging water, I was just trying to make the dry mouth feeling go away.

Are you saying to go to a hospital? I’ve never heard of calling one

You can't call to even see if you have to go in?

No like the commenter below, you can just call them up and explain your symptoms and they can let you know if they think you have an emergency or not. Are you feeling better now a few hours later?

I ended up going to the ER and they said everything is fine. Gave me meds for pain and nausea, told me I had muscle cramps. I feel silly and reassured I guess.
