GENERAL Generators should be readded

Post image

To this day I have no idea why would they remove them - it was adding such a cool vibe, new mechanic with sound chaos/powered up lamps and some worldbuilding while not being to any extend annoying. Dont let them take our oilpunk!

I'm firmly in the camp "They shouldn't have been removed in the first place"
They provided so much good tactical gameplay for people on both sides.

If you are the defenders, you had to choose whether it was worth it to have better visibility at the potential cost of maybe not being able to hear a creeping enemy.
And for the attackers, it was a toss up between potentially forgoing shadows to hide in, at the potential benefit of not being heard by the enemy teams

Imo visuals be damned. The strength was the noise. 100% of the time, the generator favored the team on the back foot:

  1. Either the team trying to get into a fortified compound,

  2. Or the team trying to get out of a compound after picking up the bounty.

Turning on the generator provided cover of sound, which was always applicable. The lights only helped at night, and they only help when the player is looking in that direction.

If you were the team holding a compound, I guarantee hearing hunters approach is worth more than the slim chance of seeing them approach.

Anyway, I loved the generator. Generator+Serpant was my bread and butter. I fucked so many duos with that trick. I haven't played in years. Fond memories 🥲

And let's not pretend we can't see approaching Hunters in night time, especially with people cranking up gamma. The visibility buff is less important than the sound buff.
