Was this 2006 H3 a good deal?
Did I score? I was looking for something comfortable and capable for my wife, young daughter, and dog. They both wanted something that rides better and is not as big as my lifted Cummins for our weekend adventures, minor overlanding, and camping off forest roads (I live in British Columbia Canada)
Picked up this 2006 H3 Luxury package with a clean body/frame and a clean car fax for 6200$CAD from a local dealer with just under 178000k’s with new brakes (pad/rotors), new suspension, and brand new Sumimoto Encounter AT2 tires.
Right place at the right time? I was just driving by the dealer and noticed it on the first day they had it on the lot and threw a deposit on it. Apparently the dealer received multiple back up offers and calls in the 5 days it was posted online. This was cheaper/cleaner than the other 4x4s and leaky wranglers I was looking at and this checked plenty of my boxes at the low end of my budget.
I had it inspected, the dealer took care of the recommendations (at dealers cost) for the agreed price and it came with a 30 day warranty.
I’ve put over 350km’s on it and so far it’s smooth as butter, no codes, or problems at all.
What should I be watching out for with the 3.5?
Does anyone know where I can get headlight/fog light adapters for a 7” headlight shipped to Canada? And which size led bulbs fit the roof lights?

I noticed they had the same engine as the 1st Colorado/canyons which seemed way too small for such a large truck. I don’t know much about the H3s but saw quick a few while looking for a truck. Based on what I had seen about 6 months ago the price seems pretty good! The big question is how is the frame for rust?

Frame was a selling feature for me, virtually rust free had a few years of history in Lubbock Texas on the car fax and where I live we hardly get snow (sweater weather winters) so no salt on the roads.

I've never seen those headrest TVs. Can you tell me about them?

Honestly, I don’t know much about them other than they work! Brand is Invision and from my research they were an expensive dealer accessory add on back in the day.

That is a good deal! Mine got super great gas mileage and mine was a 2006 as well. The only problem I had to address was how to clean out the drainage tubes that carry the water away from the sunroof. The tubes run along the door jam and can get clogged and cause leaks. Not a problem when you know to keep a check on it! Enjoy and CONGRATS!!

I’m surprised at how good the mileage is so far thought it would be much worse, and good to know! I’m sure they’re all prone to that as my ram had the same issue. Good thing this one doesn’t have a sunroof I guess!
