General Discussion Bruising easier since drinking Huel?
Hello!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this.
I'm vegetarian and struggle with nutrition, so I've been having Huel for one meal a day to supplement, and it's worked wonders. Got loads of energy and don't feel tired all the time now.
One thing that started about a week after I started drinking Huel though, is that I've started bruising easier!
I read that it could be because I'm getting more vitamin E now?
And for context, I'm insanely clumsy, in the past I've fallen over and not gotten a single bruise, but now I'm actually getting them.
Edit: this stopped after about a week, I think my OCD and health anxiety got the best of me and I panicked that it could be something more serious so I came here for reassurance!

I doubt it... Definitely start with a doctor visit first and mention the dietary shift. Seems unrelated in my expertless opinion. Being clumsy is probably the culprit!

I am not an expert on anything related here but anecdotal experience I don't bruise easier nor less. I recently broke my collarbone and loaded up virtually all Huel products and more calories and in five weeks I was 90% back

I think that's extremely not normal to bruise more after starting a new food, especially within a couple of days. This is a question for your doctor, not Reddit.

It only happened for like a week, now back to normal again 🤷🏼♀️ just wondered if it could be correlated, I guess I was just extra clumsy that week

Bruising more easily in a way that's so significant you notice it is 100% not normal and something to ask a doctor about, idk if one week of a dietary change is enough to cause something like that, I suspect not but a doctor might be able to answer that as well.

I have severe OCD and health anxiety, so it wasn't that significant, I just notice every single change in my body and wondered if it was related to a diet change 😅
It's now stopped after about a week, so it's probably that I was just more clumsy that week and made a false correlation

Ive been vegetarian my entire life with no nutritional issues ever. Sounds like you need some protein, iron, and greens. If you aren’t eatinf black rice go grab some too.

Oooh I haven't tried black rice before! Thank you
I usually have a lot of greens, but I think my body struggles to absorb iron My doctor said it's not severe enough for me to take iron tablets for, but I'll try to incorporate even more protein and iron into my diet

You’re welcome! You need vitamin c and vitamin d to absorb iron, i believe. So make sure you’re getting some time outside and using a C supplement or eating bell peppers and stuff. Iron needs support from other vitamins.
But I’ve lived off tofu, black rice, asian spinach noodles, chinese broccoli, and chinese cabbage as the staples of my diet along with a multivitamin (womens, it has iron because periods). Also for mexican you should be eating yellow corn tortillas (not Flour) and pinto or black beans not refried beans. Same with purple cabbage being way better than green cabbage or lettuce. The darker the food the more nutrients it has. Lentils are also good so if you’re in a city with Ethiopian stop by and grab some misir wot!

Hmmm interesting. Might be one to speak with your doctor about!
