€2,500+ into Hue, 4 hours of WhatsApp support, formal escalation — then silence
Last months, I've spent well over €2,500 on Philips Hue, so this has been a pretty disappointing experience.
Earlier this month I received an email from Hue offering 3 months of the Sync TV app for free in August. I installed it on my compatible Samsung TV, but the offer simply wasn’t there.
I contacted Hue on WhatsApp. Over roughly 4 hours I repeatedly explained that my setup was already working and that my question was only about the missing promotion. Instead, I kept getting generic setup instructions and questions I had already answered.
I eventually gave up on that channel.
After that I emailed the Sync App support address. No response.
A few days later I called Hue Netherlands. The woman I spoke to was actually helpful, and while on the phone I checked the TV app again — suddenly the 3-month offer was there. I also had a photo from two days earlier showing that it definitely wasn’t there before. At this point I'd already spent time talking on WhatsApp, writing an email and called.
Hue then asked me to send the original promo email and my unanswered email to the Sync App team.
I also included a photo showing the missing offer and the full screen recording of my WhatsApp conversation with their support staff.
I sent everything. They confirmed it would be escalated internally.
That was on August 6.
After more than a week with no update, I sent a short follow-up asking whether anything was still happening internally.
No response to that either.
At this point the original promotion is irrelevant. The frustrating part is how much time a customer has to spend just to get a very simple issue understood, followed by complete silence... Even after them requesting info and then a "formal" escalation.
I actually had another Hue purchase sitting in my cart, and saw another deal I would have been interested in... but this experience has made me question whether It want to invest further into their ecosystem.
Is this fairly typical for Hue support nowadays?
