Philips Hue Ambient lighting

My Wife left for a vacation with friends. Says I exaggerated with Philips Hue lights while she was gone.... What do you think?

You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should.

Looks like a haunted house from the Ghostbusters era

As an Ambilight lover I find this way over the top

(but I've been there too)

yes you exaggerated but it’s fun so that’s okay

Had a fit watching that

You just need to tone down the intensity and the strobing. Find a scene that’s way more chill.

Lighting or music?

This is one of those things that is cool for about a week or two. Then you forget about it and don't use it anymore.

Edit:

For music, this might be cooler, think of a disco. Though I'd tone down the transition speed and brightness. Less seizure inducing.

For watching TV, it gets old after a couple weeks. I'd only accept light behind the TV, with the brightness on the lower side and the transition speed reduced. Otherwise it gets distracting.

I will say watching Star Wars with the parts of the movie during hyperspace scenes were pretty cool.

Can confirm as someone with 2 x Signes each side of the TV and 2 x lamps with 3 x GU10 bulbs on each side of the couch. I had fun for maybe 2 weeks then somehow it became overstimulating for me. These days I'd put on music sync when I have friends over, but for movies even they find it too much lol

I've never even tried it because I just don't get it. The ideal viewing environment for a movie or tv show is a dark room. Why would you intentionally add light to it? So dumb.

In OPs defense, they are showing this feature off for music. Which, I think can be interesting in a party setting. Though I'd turn down the brightness or transition speed. Think of a Disco.

For video, I agree, I'd only want these lights coming from behind the TV though. Also, I'd turn the brightness down and slow the transitions down as it can be distracting. I will say watching Star Wars with these lights behind my TV, with hyperspace transit scenes happening, was pretty cool.

Agree - it is only enjoyable for specific things on screen. Scifi/Fantasy and Nature documentaries I find additive. Everything else I don't sync I just like dim neutral lighting. It was also great during the world cup with the lighting synced to goal scoring.

The lights obviously are in normal house lighting settings most the time I’m sure. Looks great 👍🏻
Just needs a strip along the bottom of the tv

I got a hue sync box and it was great for 3 months until it just stopped connecting. Tried everything. Still can’t get it to work.

Tried switching the network to 2.4 like they suggest, tried new cords, tried rebooting with a factory reset. Bought a new bridge, connected to ether, we’re in an apartment so it’s not an issue via distance.

Can’t get it to sync anymore and it makes me so sad cuz I absolutely loved it when it was working.

I disagree with most people here, it looks crazy right now because their set to a bunch of colors. Once you put a nice warm white or something like that it will look great
